Saracen considers. The magic of Pholtus isn’t just healing. I have strength enough for only one more of each of the Blinding Lights blessings, and if we meet something like a Minotaur or worse, magic might give us more of an advantage than swords and axes and bows alone. No one is severely injured. If there are faithful of the lord of light amongst us I have a new remedy that can provide some of the healing magic of Pholtus, but will only work on those who truly worship my lord.

The half-orc shrugs and moves about the place to the snake pit. He will take out one of his candles, light it, and then as gently as possibly drop it into the snake pit to see if he can clear a space down there.

Maag

Maag, seeing that the group is split between staying and leaving, considers the options again. "Well, since it's bin pointed out dat we've only bin 'ere a few hours, an' we're all fairly fit, stayin' a bit longer makes sense."

"On der other hand, if we stay in 'ere, an' get beat up, den try to leave, we might run into der walkin' trees out der. Den we'll really be stuck".

"Maybe we should try an' leave now. See what der trees do. If dey let us go, we can circle round an' come back in. If dey try an' stop us, we can fight our way out while we're still healthy"

Alordan likes that prudence that Maag suggests. "Yes, let's do that. We can come back tomorrow and continue. We can prepare a little better for a return visit and think how to trap a minotaur or a brutus."

Sir Crestbrook

The paladin nods in agreement with Alordan and Maag and prepares to move out

Lerrick

Lerrick casts her remaining healing spell on Maag. There you go Maag. No telling what we'll face on the way back to town.. She smiles and prepares to leave as well.

Return To Cat Turd Beach
Freeday, 12th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Warm, Humid, Damp

Saracen drops a lit candle down into the snake pit. The many serpents avoid its tiny flame, but there is no discernible reaction from the majority of the slithering mass below. He clears a small area of the snakes, but only in about a 12 inch wide circle.

After Maag's sound advice, the group intends to head back out of the caves so they can return to Beachtown for some rest. Lerrick casts her final prayer for the day, healing Maag's bum ankle back to full health.

Crestbrook raises his half burnt torch and leads the party into the altar room again

Actions?

I will need the route you intend to take back out. I also need to know who is carrying Cora's amulet.

Alordan glances at the Altar and asks the holy men, "if this was intended as an altar of good, but was corrupted in someway.. do we need do anything out of respect and return it to it's rightful state?"

Saracen shrugs, searching the altar for holy symbols of goodness. Things of that nature rightly require time and potentially magic we don’t have to spare. Perhaps we can come back when the danger is sure to have passed and deconsecrated the altar!

The holy champion takes his place in the marching order, searching for the marks he and Maags made as they traversed the tunnels to find their way back out.

There may be other things pairing down here, for there are still passages we haven’t explored yet. For another day perhaps.

Maag

Maag does a little jig to test his ankle. "Cheers Lerrick! Just wot der cleric ordered!" He laughs and slaps her on the shoulder.

"Right, back out der way we came in. Watch out for der signs folks. An' don't forget, der might be sumfin' out der dat is makin' all dese tunnels so clean. So keep yer eyes open!"

"Oi! Cresty! 'ow about I carry der torch an' you take my big pole to poke around?"

Sir Crestbrook the Mighty

The paladin swaps the torch for the pole with Maag. Holding the pole with his left hand and his sword in his right hand he then leads the party forward prodding with the pole and searching for the markers left by Saracen and Maag.

Lerrick

The cleric grabs her new mace and steps in line with the party ready to go.

Gramble follows the others out.

From the words in that journal I got a pretty strong feeling the things on this Island aren't letting us leave with that amulet.

Return To Cat Turd Beach
Freeday, 12th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Warm, Humid, Damp

Trading his half spent torch for Maag's big bamboo pole again, Crestbrook begins leading the group back through the caves the same way they came in. Walking past Cora's pool of clean water and all of her tattered rags hung out to dry, Maag reminds the group that there is still something inside these caves that is keeping them so clean.

Following their own directional markers to find the way out, the group makes slow progress past all of the minotaur statues and back to the entrance cave without any further incident, though they cant shake the feeling that they've forgotten something. Once back in the main cave area, still splattered with crazed graffiti, they see the other two tunnels, the strange arcane platform on the floor of the cave, and the main cave opening into this chamber again. Everything looks much like it did when they first entered only a couple of hours ago.

My last records show Alordan carrying the amulet, so that is what I will go with unless someone speaks up.

Alordan has a feeling that they should have paid more respect to the priest of Athena and disposed of the body with more dignity. "Should we go back and get her - i think we have overlooked that....."

Alordan has the amulet stowed away, yes.

Maag

Maag shrugs. "I'm not bovvered either way. But we can't bury 'er inside or outside, we got no tools for dat. If we leave, we can take 'er in der boat an' bury 'er back in town. Or at least weigh 'er down an' bury 'er out der". He points out to sea.

"Now den, are we dead set on goin' all der way back to town? We're not all dat banged up, we could keep lookin' around 'ere.

Maag once again explains his idea to see if the party can return to the boats unmolested by the strange moving trees. If they leave the party alone, the group could return to the caves for a few more hours of exploration. "Den we could leave a bit later in der afternoon".

Saracen frowns at that. It was your insistence on keeping going when we were all out of magic the last time in that spider Warren that got the party crushed by a trap with no means to heal the damage if you remember rightly Maag. Let’s not repeat the same mistake again. I agree trying to head for the boats to see if we can get there safely is a good plan, but coming back to explore without resting up and recovering our magic seems like a fools errand. I am not suggesting we go all the way to Beachtown yet, but we should try and find a defendable position and bunker down for six hours or so.

Maag

Maag arches an eyebrow. "Der reason we carried on goin' was because nobody 'crept you wanted to sit around forever until we woz all complete 'ealthy and everyone wot could use magic 'ad every single spell dey could cast ready to go".

"We could sit around for 6 hours an' wait for monsters to find us. Or we could go an' find dem, an' maybe find some loot into der bargain".

"An' if you really want to hunker down, der first cave is probably better dan sittin' in der middle of all der trees. At least we can't be attacked from all sides in der".

Saracen rolls his eyes. Yes and twenty minutes later you all came hobbling back to rest and get healed from the near fatal wounds anyway. Fools rush in unprepared and reap what they sow after all.

He looks around at the cave. I think seeing if we can get back to the shore safely is a great plan, before we use up all our magical resources completely.

Alordan listens to the sense spoken by Saracen. "You guys okay if we go get her and bring her back to beachtown for a proper burial - I'd feel a whole lot better about that. Might be some good we can do here, ya know? We can then rest and come back tomorrow and keep going when we're fresh."

Maag

"Well, I don't know if dat makes us more foolish dan you. Tryin' to 'ike back to town rather dan go with us... All we lost was a couple o' dogs. You got dat 'alflin' druid killed".

Maag turns to Alordan. "Yeah, no problem 'ere mate. As long as everybody is fine wiv riskin' der lives in der again, for a dead body, wivvout der chance to rest an' recoo...rest, before'and, yer can count me in" He grins a big toothy grin.
