Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Saracen rushes over to the fallen Paladin. He kneels down beside the bloody body and raises his hand high and brings it down hard over the crazy man’s face.
We don’t have time for this foolishness. Pull yourself together man. Forcing us to waste resources on your idiocy. He gets the ranger to hold the Paladin down whilst he performs a spell of healing over the knight.
Cure light wounds [1d8] = 7
Pholtus be praised he found the beneficence to save you, Crestbrook. Now behave yourself and watch the door. Can you be trusted with a sword again? If you are going to kill yourself again, at least have the decency to use your healing powers to tend to our trap springer or ranger here first, Hmmmm.

Maag
Maag looks on wide-eyed as Sir Crestbrook attempts to end it all. Once the others have rushed in to help the paladin, he throws in his own two-coppers worth of comment.
"Bloody 'ell Cresty! Dat was a bit drastic. Der's enough stuff around 'ere tryin' to kill yer without doin' it yerself." After a few moments, Maag's tone softens a bit. "Look mate, if yer dat upset about it, try and make it up to 'er a bit later by doin' sumfin' good for sombody else".
He walks over to the paladin and puts his arm around his shoulder. "By der way, while we're on der subject, if sumfin bad 'appens to yer....can I ave yer stuff?"

Sir Crestbrook the Mighty
The paladin looks up blinking his eyes repeatedly until he sees the face of Sarecan come into view. He slowly gets to his feet and begins to put back on his armor. Thank you Sarecan. I...I had a momentary lapse of judgement After equipping his final piece of armor he turns everyone. From this point on...I vow...(tears coming to his eyes now) to avenge the loss of this poor cleric in some way and to continue provide protection to this party as long as we adventure together. My accurate and lethal blade is yours! . He then collects hisself. I would like to keep her holy symbol with me as a constant reminder of my purpose!
Lerrick
The cleric shakes her head at the paladin's ranting. Does anyone have interest in the hammer? I'd like to have it there are no objections.

Alordan doesn't need the hammer and happy to see Lerrick make use of it. He'll start to search more of the walls and statues in the room for anything hidden. As he does, "keeping a reminder of purpose is a good thing. You'll be tested again on that on this island I am sure of..."

Welcome, To The Cave, On Minotaur Island
Freeday, 12th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Warm, Humid, Damp
After the astonishing actions of the groups paladin, his friends spring into action, vocally and physically. Using the power bestowed onto him from Pholtus, Saracen heals the human back to full health with a stern warning and some good advice. He suggests that he use his powers of healing upon Maag, to see if he still can.
Maag agrees, also comforting the man that his gear wont go to waste, in case he wants to try that stunt again sometime. Lerrick shows interest in Cora's owl headed mace, which nobody objects to. She swings it around through the air a few times, finding that it feels good in her hand.
Now in tears, the knight of the many circles thanks his friends, proclaiming that he will take their advice by avenging this horrible accident. He asks for the dead woman's holy symbol so he can wear it as a reminder of what happened here. The paladin feels a bit empty after the affair is all over, as if he has lost part of himself, somehow.
Alordan checks around the walls and statues again, but the outdoorsman doesn't find any other hidden secrets.

Alordan suggests "If we've searched this room completely, should we continue exploring these caves a bit longer?" He'll rummage through the rest of the rags and the bed if that hasn't been searched yet.

The paladin laughs. At that point I will have no use for it. He then moves up to Alordan. Hold still for a moment. Let me cure some of your wounds. The paladin grabs Alordan's shoulder, then closes his eyes and prays to his god. Healing energy flows into the Alordan. After the act the paladin still holds Alordan's should for a few more uncomfortable moments for dramatic effect. Even after an attempted suicide the paladin is back to his old flamboyant self. It didn't take long.
Lay hands on Alordan
Lerrick
The cleric smiles as she swings the hammer couple times. She then scans the walls looking to see if they are scoured clean like the passageways that led to this room.

It doesn’t matter how many times you call it a hammer. It’s still a MACE!!!

"If nobody fancies goin' down der pit, dere's not much left to do in 'ere," says Maag. "Except for dis". He flips over the bed, intent on seeing what is in or under it.
"We'll 'ave to go back der way we came".

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Saracen thinks on it or a while. I have spells left that might help discover if there’s anything down there, but I wonder what could possibly be there. The poor cleric here doesn’t seem to have been that powerful, so I am not convinced she had anything valuable to save. If there was a pile of coins down there wouldn’t we hear them clinking as the snakes move over them? A spell to sense magic might be good to check to see if there’s anything enchanted below, or I could talk to the snakes about it. I am running low on magic however and that would be me done for the day. Is it worth it? Am not convinced. the holy warrior says calmly.
He will look into the pool once more, asking to borrow his blood kin’s ten foot pole and stir around in it to see if there’s anything at the bottom.

Welcome, To The Cave, On Minotaur Island
Freeday, 12th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Warm, Humid, Damp
Saracen stirs the snakes in the pit around with Maags long pole but that doesn’t reveal anything new to the group. Some of the more skittish serpents exit through the tiny holes in the base of the walls, but that still leaves hundreds more slithering around at the bottom of the pit. He then stirs the water in the small pool next, finding nothing in the bottom of that basin.
Lerrick checks over the floor and walls of this chamber carefully with her new MACE in hand, finding them all very clean. In fact, other than the area where the walls and floor are splattered with the blood of the innocent, this is the cleanest place you’ve seen in here so far. Sir Crestbrook lays his hands upon Alordans shoulder, letting his minor healing powers aid the fighter. healed 2 At least the Gallant hasn’t lost the ability to do so.........yet.
The ranger finds nothing interesting in the hanging rags. They all look rather ragged and threadbare, as if they have been used extensively for cleaning very rough surfaces. Alordan and Maag search the bedding next, flipping the bad over to check underneath. Once the bedding is tossed, they find Cora’s nest egg. A mix of coins and tiny gems are found in a small leather bag worth a total of 120 gold coins. The chest contains other clothing and a few more personal belongings, but nothing of monetary value.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Alordan hands off the treasure for Maag to hold. Will be helpful for the group and the town in the long run.
"Anything left to do here or should we explore a little more of this cave system? We have plenty of time before the sailors leave us for the day.."

Sir Crestbrook the Mighty
The paladin walks up to Gramble and gives him bear hug. Brave Gramble...thank you for you compassion and your support. May my blade be there for you if you are ever in a state of peril. He then releases him and turns to the others. I am ready to proceed in our quest to cleanse this place of evil.
Lerrick
Lerrick finishes a few more practice swings with her new MACE, feeling confident that she be able to defend herself with it if needed. She finds a loop on her belt to stow it and then turns to the group. Any chance we could use this place to rest for a bit. I'd feel it best to continue if we all had our full capacity of spells.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
If we are resting here we need to burn that snake pit. I don't trust the slithering bastards.
Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Saracen is agreeable to resting. If we are inclined to do so, perhaps we should heal as many wounds as we can before we settle in to recover our powers. I need to cast another spell before I settle as well. Are we agreed to this plan?

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Alordan asks more about what the group has in mind about resting. "I agree that having your magical powers at full is important. If we're gonna rest - we head out now and row back to town to rest - otherwise we'll be stuck here at night. Who knows where Brutus is? We have some extra coin to help pay for passage tomorrow. Yes?"
Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Maag
Maag does a double-take when Alordan hands him the money, not being accustomed to people voluntarily handing their money over to him. Once he hears the plan to row back to Beachtow, he nods his head. "Yeah, dat makes sense. Safer over der dan in 'ere, an' now we're flush, it's not a big deal. Der money-grabbin' gits might even give us a discount for tomorrow"
Maag points over at the body on the floor. "Wot we gonna do wiv...er..."Maag considers making a joke at Sir Crestbrook's expense for a moment, then has a moment of conscience. He realizes the paladin has been through a lot today, so decides to let it go. "...der lady over der. Wot we gonna do wiv 'er?"

Gramble watches as the money is handed to Maag.
We do know the total of the loot.
Well we could take her out and bury her, although I have a feeling whatever these things are outside that drive people into the caves because of the cursed amulet won;t let us leave willingly with it. so whatever healing you have you might want to use now.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Suggestions Anyone?
Freeday, 12th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Warm, Humid, Damp
After only about an hour or so of searching inside the cave so far, Alordan hands the new found loot to Maag and suggests the group continue. Crestbrook agrees. Lerrick secures her new mace and suggests taking a rest in here so she can reclaim her magic. Gramble suggests burning the snakes if the party is to rest in here. Saracen suggests the wounded be healed before resting. Maag questions what to do with poor Cora, while Gramble suggests taking her outside so she can be properly buried.
Alordan listens to all the suggestions, and in return, suggests they return to town to rest. Gramble suggests they heal up before heading back outside, in case whatever chased Cora in here is still out there.
