Back in town
Re: Back in town
Viktor holds his hands up in a disarming manner. "Whoa, whoa there, Minter! No one said nothin about gettin them soldiers and Sentinels involved with our thing. Me personally? I'd be havin nothin ta do with them if'n I can avoid it," he admits in all seriousness, looking over to see which of his friends feel the same way.
"Look, we be on your side and Rashtan's. But we need a plan. Say we activate that there amulet, then what? Serg wasn't kiddin around this thing bein too big for us. We got lucky in how we acquired them there hairs. And even after we made a clean getaway, we was somehow marked by them Death Mongers. They knew were we was and were even able to use their magics ta make snakes and spiders come at us. Heck, we even had one them Death Monger-Centipede men attack our camp when his snakes and bugs couldn't get it done. We barely got 'em and it darn near killed Osric!" he explains, feeling despair creeping back in.
Vik takes another deep breath. "We need a plan. And we're hoping you can tell us how them bastards were able to track us in the dark through the rain. Plus, I'm thinkin that once we figure out what's what, we let the sheriff know what we do. His loyalties should lie with Rashtan and all of us, yeah? What say you on that, Minter?"

Re: Back in town
His eyes grow wide as you tell him of your encounters.
I knew nothing of this. 1/2 Centepede mongers, control over spider and snakes. This smacks of a dark twisted magic more powerful than I thought they would posses.
I will assume here you related the entire sory to him
The mutated monger you saw grab the displacer beats hairs and run away can only mean the mongers have an amulet of their own, perhaps several.
if they have one already active then they may be able to use it to detect any other amulets near by. It is likely they could have tracked you that way.
And yes talon, Korec, and harold can all be trusted. In fact they are the only ones i would truly trust with this knowledge and think they should be brought up to speed. One thing is for sure, I would not let Janos Featherwind know of any of this
he says with a frown

Scythius provides the confirmation Vik seeks.Argennian wrote:"Whoa, whoa there, Minter! No one said nothin about gettin them soldiers and Sentinels involved with our thing. Me personally? I'd be havin nothin ta do with them if'n I can avoid it,"
"The amulet can be tracked even if it's not activated?" Scythius wonders aloud. "If so, it would make sense to activate ours as well." He reaches into his pack and withdraws the third displacer beast hair. "Here, have this one, too." he says. "If there's no advantage to leaving it deactivated, by all means, make it active."wolfpack wrote:"...if they have one already active then they may be able to use it to detect any other amulets near by. Re: Back in town
I only need 1 hair to activate it. If I can figure out how to use the amulet to trace others then it would be wise to save your extra hairs until we have more amulets.
The ceremony to activate it has to happen under moonloight at midnight. I will prepare everything needed and we will meet tonight, outside of town at the ruins of the old mill.

Re: Back in town
Cillian nods, "That sounds good. I'll keep this other hair safe until we might need it again, then." He tucks the envelope away in the folds of his robes.
"Sounds like we have time to rest before we need to meet. I suggest we all do so; we'll need our energy, if tonight goes as smoothly as the last few days have gone," he adds, a touch of sarcasm noted in the last few words.

Re: Back in town
Sergius will go get some rest, but not before agreeing with the others on the time and place to reassemble.
Re: Back in town
With much excitement certainly ahead of them, Scythius will look to retire for some rest as well.

Re: Back in town
"Alright then, Minter. Before midnight it is then. We'll be needing to call a meeting with Talon, Korec and Harold, straight away. All of us got to be on the same page, and the sooner the better. I don't want to see any more people here suffer than already has. Should me and Tub go tell them to meet with us tonight?" Vik queries of Minter before turning to address his friends. "What about Osric, guys? And Hanna for that matter? They should be with us tonight too, right?"

Tub had the amulet
Perhaps meet here at 10 pm with korec and talon so we have plenty of time to fill them in

Re: Back in town
The group disperses to get some rest before the evening happenings.
later that night you meet back up at wayfarers place and head to Minters at 10 pm to meet with Korec and talon.
Minter fills the two in on everything that he has discovered.
neither are pleased with the news, but agree that at this point informing the greater athority could be bad for rashtan.
If you have any specific dialouge or questions for Minter, talon, or korec post them before I move to the ceremony.

Enough rest time to memorize a new spell? Or no?

Re: Back in town
Vik nods his agreement and understanding. He will head home after the meeting's over to check in with his parents and try to get some shut-eye. He won't tell his parents anything detail-wise but will tell them that he and the others are helping Talon and Korec with town stuff. He asks to be woken up no later than 9:00pm, just to be sure he isn't late for the pre-ceremony meeting with the others!wolfpack wrote:Perhaps meet here at 10 pm with Korec and Talon so we have plenty of time to fill them in
Vik is happy to know that Korec and Talon are both "on the team", so to speak. He suggests that Minter conduct the ceremony first and then we'll see what's what after that, in regards to a plan moving forward.wolfpack wrote:The group disperses to get some rest before the evening happenings.

Re: Back in town
The group heads out of town under the cover of darkness to the old flour mill. The mill is on property owned by Cillians family.
It was once a place of employment for the village where grain was made into flour and sold cheaply to the town. It was built by Cilians grandfather, but once he passed and Cillians father took over as head of the family he shut it down becuase it was losing money.
You all enter the ruins of the mill so as not to be seen by prying eyes.
In my research I have discovered how to activate the homing power of the amulet. When activated it should be able to lead you to the 3 Qullion shrines it is tied to. I also suspect that there is a latent ability that will allow an amulet to hone in on the location of other amulets. I do not know how that function can be activated yet, or for 100% that it can. I will research further and perhaps enlist the aid of Harold.
Using the vial of virgin blood provided Minter pours it into a complex shape of circle filled with crisscrossed diagonal lines. He places the amulet in the center of the circle and removes a small silver owl from his robe.
Sitting cross legged in front of the circle bowl in front he places the rest of the items you collected in the bowl.
Taking a small bundle of sage form his pocket he asks someone to spark it. He then places the smoldering bundle in the bowl closes his eyes and begins to chant.
Omus Petor Ray Calise
Omus Petor Ray Calise
The amulet in the center of the circle begins to move on it’s own twitching slightly.
Omus Petor Ray Calise
The amulet begins to slowly rise from the ground
Incredible talon whispers to no one in particular.
OMUS PETOR RAY CALISE
Minter chants his voice rising
OMUS PETOR RAY CALISE
The amulet begins to spin in the air slowly at first then faster and faster
OMUS PETOR RAY CALISE
OMUS PETOR RAY CALISE
OMUS PETOR RAY CALISE
The amulet begins to glow a dark blood red color
OMUS PETOR RAY CALISE EL MIKEL
Minter chants coming to a crescendo on the last word. Just as he finishes the amulet falls to the ground as Minter collapses.

Re: Back in town
Trying to learn what he can, Cillian pays careful attention to what Minter does and says throughout the whole ceremony.
As he finishes the ritual, and the amulet and Minter both fall to the ground, Cillian instinctively runs to... Minter, first. He checks to make sure he is still breathing and comfortable, but does not try to wake him up.
"Harold told me during my training that powerful spells can sap your energy or... worse. Hopefully this is just the former. We should keep him comfortable until he wakes on his own. To do otherwise might cause him harm."
Once he has done that, and if nobody else does first, he will examine the amulet, holding it out for anyone else to examine, as well.

Re: Back in town
As Cillian runs towards Minter Sergius turns around looking at the surroundings, as if expecting the ritual to summon threats out of thin air.
Re: Back in town
Minter is breathing but unconcious.
You make your way to the amulet, you reach down in the magic circle and pick it up, it is warm to the touch.
