08. Another Wave... of Nausea
Re: 08. Another Wave... of Nausea
Seeing Strom is temporarily indisposed, Kaltar waits for his response before acting.
Re: Round 0
Since Ewell has two longswords, plus I believe there was one on the trogs... would we have time to pass one off to a local in round 0, and would that be beneficial? ie their non-proficiency with weapon better or worse than using a pitchfork, twig, etc?dmw71 wrote:Resolving late actions from last thread:
Theora's eyes grow wide and she lets out a loud scream.

With this being considered a round "zero," ranged attacks (considered short distance) and simple actions (e.g. movement/positioning of short distances) are possible. Melee attacks and spell casting will be possible beginning in round 1.[/ooc]
Ewell will prepare for melee dominance this round (after handing off his orcish sword if appropriate), while answering Theora's scream..."Don't worry Miss. I am ready for them... This time...

I now have a great image in my head of a yokel type, complete with a piece of straw dangling out of his mouth, facing off to a trog waving a 2 inch twig as a weapon!

Re: 08. Another Wave... of Nausea
Grimnail shoots snot from his nostrils onto the ground hoping to purge the filth from his lungs.
If he has time after wretching for another javelin throw before melee he will do so.
Javelin:[1d20+4] = 8+4 = 12 Thac0:20 Damage:[1d8+3] = 6+3 = 9 -3 Dmg STR Weakness
otherwise:
Grimnail , feeling the weight of his scimitar in his weakened arms, sheathes it over his back and twirls a hand ax into each hand. He sets his jaw in determination against the foes and advances.

Re: Round 0
Few locals have returned to the streets in the relatively short time since the first wave of attacks, and none in the immediate area (other than the heavily wounded Theora). As for whether or not it would be beneficial to hand over a longsword if given the opportunity... there's really only one way to find out.onlyme wrote:Since Ewell has two longswords, plus I believe there was one on the trogs... would we have time to pass one off to a local in round 0, and would that be beneficial? ie their non-proficiency with weapon better or worse than using a pitchfork, twig, etc?

Ewell will quickly point Theora toward the inn, and beg, "Please my dear, take this and run inside. You can do your town much more good by rallying folks to fight, rather than attempt to do so yourself. You have plenty of work to do after we are done with these creatures. He will hand her the orcish longsword to give to any local able to fight.

Re: 08. Another Wave... of Nausea
Are we just waiting on saving throws/actions from Garth and Alordan at this point?
(hint...)
EDIT: Sorry, Alordan made his save with flying colors and had attacks in before the saving throw was called for.

I can't wait to miss multiple attacks again!
Re: 08. Another Wave... of Nausea
That, plus with this being my second to last day at my current job, I have been beyond insanely busy with knowledge transfer meetings, wrapping up open tickets in progress, etc... (hence my PM request to you, Ethan (besides, I always seem to screw that up somehow.Alethan wrote:Are we just waiting on saving throws/actions from Garth and Alordan at this point?

I actually have a bit of a break and will work on composing the latest action post. If Garth posts his action before I'm ready, I'll incorporate that action. If not, I will NPC for this opening "round."

P.S. Garth, you might want to hurry up! While it could have been far worse, I like your chances of improving your situation by rolling for yourself.

Round 0
Round 0: Start
Gwillt hisses, "Quick. Attack them before they can close in." Then he rushes forward to take partial cover by the wine storage building.
Without hesitation, Alordan quickly readies his bow and fires into the approaching trogs. His first arrow hits solidly, striking a middle-rank troglodyte (a12) slowing, but not stopping, it. His second arrow carries far, sailing over the head of the neighboring troglodyte (a11).
Upon hearing the scream, Shannigans' hand instinctivly goes to his dagger but hurriedly draws arrow to bow after realizing the situation. He lets it fly, followed by another, with neither arrow able to find its mark. Realizing he'd be wise to seek cover, he scurries over to join Gwilt by the wine cellar.
Once positioned, Gwillt fires off two well placed arrows. The first sinks into the scaly flesh of one leading chargers (a5), killing it. His second arrow also finds its mark, striking the troglodyte hit by Alordan (a12) moments earlier, causing the beast to fall back even further.
Epsilon moves into range, but remains on the opposite side of the stream. He fires a bullet at a approaching trog but misses wide. Garth slowed by the poisonous stench (-1 strength) ambles over to the bridge near Epsilon and emulates the cleric by sending a sling bullet wide in the same direction.
Ewell will quickly point Theora toward the inn, and begs, "Please, my dear, take this and run inside. You can do your town much more good by rallying folks to fight, rather than attempt to do so yourself." He quickly hands her the orcish longsword, hoping she will obey his wishes, and rushes south, towards the oncoming invaders. Theora accepts the orcish longsword from Ewell and hurries off in the general direction of the inn.
---
Grimnail raises his nose in the air confident that he's slept in smellier holes than what these foul lizards can produce. His eyes betray his lack of fortitude as his stomach empties into and out of his mouth. "Bahgtru's beard!" he spits. "Must be somtin dey be a wantin here." Weakened, but no less determined, he bends to snatch a couple of the trogs javelins and moves to close the distance for a throw. He lofts the first javelin into the air and it fall short, sticking into the ground. The lead troglodyte actually pulls the vibrating javelin from its landing spot and returns the volley back at Grimnail but missed badly. Grimnail, feeling the weight of his scimitar after switching to his primary weapon, sheathes it over his back and twirls a hand ax into each hand. He sets his jaw in determination against the foes and advances. He senses Ewell establishing his position not far from where he stands.
Kaltar swings around at the scream... and the smell. "Strom, we are really being tested today. What say you: Attack with our new friend or wait for the others?" He looks back at Strom just as the wave of stench hits the holy knight and he throws up his previously hearty breakfast. The pair, at least for this initial action, remain basically in place.
---
The javelin-toting scaly beasts advance, stopping just before formally entering melee range. They launch a wave of javelins, targeting the barbarian and knight, but their collective aim proves to be horrible.

Re: 08. Another Wave... of Nausea
Don't do this often so ill have a go:
Initiative:
D6 [1d6] = 2
Kaltar, more confident now the cavalier has advanced, will move into melee by his side and have a swing if possible:
Mace Action To Hit [1d20] = 17 Dam [1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6
woopa - official request to carry that one over if not used this round Dave!

Re: 08. Another Wave... of Nausea
In this game, Initiative is a d10, with the number basically equating to the segment in the round in which your actions will take place (i.e. lower is better), which is the opposite of the older versions' D6 roll, where a higher roll is preferred.saalaria wrote:Don't do this often so ill have a go:
