Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Saracen, not wishing to attack first before being attacked, will wait beside the doorway, listening for Mags still behind the group whilst preparing a spell.
Greys Campaign.

Welcome, To The Cave, On Minotaur Island
Freeday, 12th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Warm, Humid, Damp
Brave, brave Sir Crestbrook warns the woman that he is about to attack her, allowing her the split second she needed to sidestep his sword lunge. She swings her mace back at him feebly as she responds. "What? I am not filled with evil! You're EVIL!" That's when Alordan and Gramble rush forward to help the paladin. The ranger slips and doesn't even get his attack off, but Gramble is sure of foot, striking the hooded woman clean and hard with his magic ax. The blow brings the woman to her knees after only one swing. She crouches low, sobbing for a moment before throwing 2 snakes in the face of the huge human who nearly killed her.
Saracen and Lerrick stay put, unsure about attacking the woman unprovoked. Maag pops his big head into the entryway to see what he's missed, long pole in one hand, his sword in the other, and a bundle of something tucked tightly under one armpit.
Actions!

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Alordan uses his momentum from his slip-up to swing his sword around in an arc and down upon the evil creature.
Long Sword Attack [1d20+1] = 16+1 = 17 (THACO=18)
Long Sword Damage(+1 str/+1 weapon) = S/M: [1d8+2] = 4+2 = 6 / L: [1d12+2] = 1+2 = 3

Sir Crestbrook the Mighty
The paladin in a fit of rage attacks the priest again, this time swinging his sword in a high arc aaaaAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHH!!!...catching nothing but arc yet again.

Lerrick
The cleric continues to watch, checking occasionally to make sure no-one or no thing comes from the passage from where they entered this room.

Maag watches Sir Crestbrook skeptically, as he attacks the woman in the cowl. "Supreme judicial power should be derived from a mandate of der masses," he opines. "Not from random declarations of 'Evil' ".
"I mean, if I went round attackin' hooded bints wiv a scimitar, they'd put me away"

Welcome, To The Cave, On Minotaur Island
Freeday, 12th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Warm, Humid, Damp
Maag steps up a little closer to the action, expressing sentiments using awfully large words for someone of his ilk. He must have heard them from somewhere else. Even he, the parties thief and resident thug, wonders about the ramifications of attacking a woman on sight with little provocation. His sentiments don't stop the slaughter happening inside the next chamber.
Lerrick continues to stay out of the fight, as does Saracen. They remain alert for any other dangers.
The mighty paladin, even though he initiated the fight, misses again, never actually doing any damage to the woman he placed his judgment upon. Gramble and Alordan pick up his slack however, easily finishing off the hooded woman with their blades. She now lay unmoving on the blood covered floor at their feet.
And just like that......the excitement is over. No other noises can be heard in the chamber other than the hissing of the snakes coming from the unlit pit behind them. Gramble sees the 2 snakes that were tossed at him slowly make their way across the stone floor towards the hissing noises.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Alordan stares at the corpse a few moments, his melancholy hardening a bit, before uttering, "evil you say? I don't think to doubt it. This island has shown us rare moments of kindness and compassion. Let us be careful and take the head. There is a 'brutus' still lingering it would seem..."
Recalling ancient stories and myths, he'll sever the head in disgust and wrap it in the rags available. You can not be too careful on this island...

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Saracen checks down the tunnel leading to this chamber once more, watching for signs of light or movement, or possibly light, and listens to see if he can hear anything. If still clear the half-orc moves over to the pool and tentatively peers within, ready to leap away should something unsavoury emerge, sword and Shield at the ready.
Greys Campaign.

The paladin turns towards Maag. Say what you want thief. That woman was evil to the core. Instead of second guessing my decision, why don't you look for clues as to what she was doing in this cursed place.
Lerrick
The cleric checks on the condition of the fallen foe to make sure she is actually dead. Be careful eveyone...I fear that we aren't safe.

"At least I 'it der the fings I aim at" Maag says, sniffily. He takes the cloth-covered bundle out from under his arm. "If yer lookin' for clues, what about dis, den?"
Maag calls over to his half-orc brethren. "Oi! Saracen! Come an' 'ave a butcher's at dis book dat I stole", Maag throws a glance over at Sir Crestbrook,"from der alter back in dat room."

Saracen styles a chuckle at his fellow half-orc’s comment and moves over to inspect the book carefully, looking for familiar holy (or unholy) symbols and sigils and glyphs etc, without touching it just yet.
Where did you find it? he asks curiously as he scans the cover and spine. Anything with it?

Welcome, To The Cave, On Minotaur Island
Freeday, 12th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Warm, Humid, Damp
Gramble squashes the pair of harmless retreating snakes under his boot heel. More hissing is heard coming from the dark pit. Saracen stays alert for more danger as he looks into the pool. It appears to be fresh water, possibly from an underground spring.
Alordan and Lerrick approach the fallen foe, warning the others that it could still be dangerous. The ranger doesn't doubt that the paladin was correct about the woman being evil, since he has seen little else on this island so far.
Crestbrook doesn't care for the attitude from certain party mates, telling them that it is his job to thwart evil wherever he goes. He calls for the others to find clues as to what was happening here, so.......Maag produces one.
The half-orc's look over a book entitled simply "Journal" that Maag claims he found behind a secret panel in the altar leg. The cleric doesn't see any magical markings on the book, arcane or divine.
As Alordan is about to behead the horrible monster they just killed, he finds only a normal human woman under the hood. A young, attractive woman at that. Other than her fatal wounds, and a strange dark rash on her face around her eyes, she looks completely normal to the outdoorsman. There is no evidence of this woman being any more dangerous than a common peasant. She is dressed in simple fare, with no possessions upon her person other than the blue shining gem still hanging from the gold chain on her neck, which continues to pulse with a glint of magical energy.

Alordan sighs, "What the hell?! She definitely didn't look like this a minute ago..." Using his dagger he will move the amulet off her head ready to immediately cover it with the rags...
Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Saracen moves away from the water and looks at the book. Perhaps this Journal will shed some light upon her story, hmm!” he says taking it from Maags and placing it onto the cavern floor away from the others. Flipping open the cover he prepares for an explosion or lightning or some demon to appear.
Can you sense evil upon the item Crestbrook? he asks as he begins to skim the first few pages of the journal.

Maag
Maag admires the obviously valuable looking necklace, but feels a little concerned about the pulsating gem. "Dat's never a good sign" he mutters under his breath.
He takes his 10' pole and starts rummaging around in the pile of rags, keeping his sword ready to deal with anything angry that emerges from them.
