Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Picking up the swords from bony Bojangles thankfully does not cause him to be reanimated. Swords returned, everyone goes below. (Blue area 9).
Zoggrot you can listen at the prow door (in the map picture it shows two doors but there is only one), it is unlocked and as far as you can tell, trap free. It is as 'silent as the grave' ...
"The quartermaster had his desk here, among stores and crew hammocks," Clod replies to Alderhay. He tells you the dead ghasts resemble grotesque versions of former crew members. He holds his nose in disgust at the smell though he reeks equally bad. Goldie searches the ghast bodies in vain of finding any filthy lucre.
Stubble rolls the decapitated ghast head down the descending steps. Bouncing it comes to rest, eyes glazed and staring vacantly back up at you from the bottom. Fenis retrieves some corked jars from the kitchen store and with Iggway and Pocc begin to harvest algae sprouts. Nibbling one of the salty buds actually speeds up a wound recovery and the 1/2 orc receives a bonus +1 hp. (you can gather enough sprouts for five more portions of healing and a jar of seedling buds to take away for someone to try to turn into potion ingredients, but you'll need to go down to gather it all). Iggway counsels against going to far below, the dark depths being eerily silent. The black moss leaks an inky substance as it spreads up the stairs but the clumps seemed nibbled by rodents too and give an oily liquorice taste. It seems edible but if it has other qualities like the algae sprouts you would need to descend to harvest the best bits.
Rexlin decides some explosive persuasion works best and blasts the keyhole with Fishy putting his shoulder to the bars. It opens with a creak, molten splinters and sparks zipping into the cell from the 'picked' lock.
Geoff and Old Plighty wait on the ascending stairs from the stern hallway, acting as your rearguard.
Siggard and Van de Poel enter the rear room with the hands playing instruments. They are joined by totem totting, tribal speaking Rene and Ferrol who searches for some now obselete skeleton keys. The severed hands play another chord or two as the group enter. Then they scatter in disarray, save one which from the corner of the room lifts a pistol from under a pillow. It points at the first body and pulls the trigger...the 'Hagslayer' Siggard suffers a critical wound as a crimson pool of blood floods his chest.-11hp The only saving grace being the distance was not point blank.
Random target S, V, R, F [1d4] = 1
Finger on the trigger [1d20] = 20 [2d4] = 3
next actions please

He grins and winks to Fishy. Gaulese lock picking. It always works! he looks around the door checking for traps and then looks inside the room itself to see what they found.

Not sure if he is still alive or not yet, the Hagslayer clutches at the gaping, blood spewing hole in his chest as he falls backwards from the blast. He tries to make his last words as dramatic as possible for the others.
"Mates! Tell the good Cap'n Laz that old Sig died trying to protect his new recruits as best he could for him. And you fellas don't worry bout me neither! It doesn't even hurt all that bad, really."
Looking around the room trying to prevent any more surprise shootings, the mage casts his final bit of useful magic upon himself before he dies.
CLW [1d8] = 8
He hops back up to his feet once the prayer runs its course and his blood stops pouring out onto the floor.
"See! It takes more n' a gunshot to the chest to put down the ol' Hagslayer!"

The retort of the pistol still ringing in his ears, Ferrol makes a lunge for the hand and pistol, hoping to prevent reloading. "Check the others! There may be more guns around."

Gin VdP rushes into the room, looking for any more fingers on triggers.
If he sees any hands being naughty, he stabs them with his spear.
VdP Golem Spear Attack [1d20+2] = 20+2 = 22 Dam [2d4+3] = 2+3 = 5
or anything else he wants to hit

Pocc still harvesting the algae sprouts echo's Iggway's warning "I'd advise avoiding going further below deck as Iggway said."

Iggway heads toward the sound of the gunshot, she finds the mage alive and upright.Good, everyone seems to be ok. I think now would be a good time to regroup and head down into the bowels of this decrepit ship. Perhaps Clod could be of use. She looks at the others for their thoughts on the matter.

Siggard nods emphatically when Iggway suggests that Clod lead the way below. (or anywhere else we want to go)

The boy charges the hand that fired the shot and before he's in melee he throws his daggar.
Daggar: [1d20+3] = 8+3 = 11

Re: Exploring the 'Guineaman'.
Rexlin and Fishy investigate the square cell room. There are no obvious traps and the door ooens with a squeaky groan. The cell is covered in a jumble of ropes, rags and blankets. Kicking them aside Rexlin hears a tinny clink and searching a garment pocket he finds a decorative snuff box. It contains a fine grain powder, not unlike gunpowder but this carries a fragrance of menthol eucalyptus.
However uncovering the floor reveals a carved spirograph pattern with crescent moons and suns intermingled between the lines. The sight of it makes you feel a little nausea adding to the sick feeling from the stench in the cargo hold. make a save vs spells at -1 penalty for Rex and Fishy please.
Zoggrot and Goldie listen at the prow cabin door. Clod's advice doesn't give any warnings and they enter. The room is as wide as the ship and about twenty feet deep. In the middle of the room a thick ladder leads to a trapdoor in the ceiling about 8 feet above. Tied to the ladder are several palm sized decorative hammers which seem more ceremonial than practical in design. A couple of shelf units split the room and behind one is a small bureau. A cloak, looking frozen in pose is on a chair next to the desk (picture a visible cloak on an invisible person) and a pair of severed hands write frantically on papers and parchments. Several papers rest on the floor, some tied in scroll form, others shredded to ribbons. The right hand holds a long peacock quill pen and the left taps fingers on the wood.
Alderhay takes Clod to be the vanguard explorers below deck. For light you can strike a candle or lantern. Behind the pair come Iggway, clutching her holy symbols, Pocc collared by his Ettin snake and Fenis who carries the harvested algae sprouts. The zombie shows no hesitation when directed to go below. "A tour of the ship Sir. Why ever not?" He nibbles on a rodent chewed sprout and finding them tasty, plucks a few more as he descends. He swallows a fistful of the black briny seaweed moss and munches with gusto. He offers some around, an inky dribble running down his decayed chin. "Oh fubar!" hisses a snake head into Pocc's ear before the snake begins to shake his orphidian head as if trying to come to his senses."Roger, is something amiss?" lisps Gaston head.
Siggard amazes everyone with his wizardry prowess, sealing the wound in his chest and spitting out the pistol shot.Van de Poel snuffs out a crawling claw, Crispin it with a critical shock. Rene the halfling stabs without success, as does Ferrol. Stubble arrives to swing his morningstar. It crashes into a bunk and the pistol totting hand scampers into the privy section. In time Stubble sees it writhe over a loamy brick of soap. As it does so, the hands fingers turn invisible and fade from view.
The other hands, scattered around the crew cabin are not so elusive. Overwhelmed by the intruders they cower under a bunk, holding hands up in surrender.
Geoff and Old Plighty maintain ghoul watch on the ascending stairs.
okay, next actions and verbals and saving throws please.

If the hand dropped the pistol, Stubble will pick up the pistol.
"Smash them all because they will be treacherous." Stubble said, and set to, first going for the pistol hand before it becomes totally invisible.

Siggard follows Stubble after the hand that shot him. When he sees the fingers disappear, he becomes intrigued.
Once the smashing subsides, the mage ignores the pistol and reaches for the brick of soap instead, wondering if it contains magical properties to cause such a thing.
Gin stays close to the wizard, poking at anymore gun toting hands if they present themselves.
VdP Golem Spear Attack [1d20+2] = 14+2 = 16 Dam [2d4+3] = 6+3 = 9

Eyeing both the pistol and bar of soap the boy though doesn't contest the others for them. He does join in the attacks on the hands beneath the bed. While doing this he will begin a little chant he would do when chopping wood or digging a hole.
Daggar attack: [1d20] = 15
Damage: [1d4] = 3

"Right. Come on out." Ferrol calls to the hands. "Keep your...self...where we can see them." He looks around for a pillowcase or bag to put the hands into.
"How's the privy, gentlemen?"
Once he has his bag of hands, Ferrol suggests joining the others in the prow cabin.
