Saracen shrugs. She speaks the common tongue. Perhaps a command spell might incapacitate her long enough to bind her securely but safely and try and get some answers. What do you all think of that? We need to get within 10 feet of her, but either Lerrick or I can cast the spell. If she isn’t incredibly smart or powerful it will work automatically, but only lasts a minute, so someone will need to be ready with some rope. If she IS some kind of Medusa’s a sack for her head might also be a wise precaution. he whispers quietly to the others.

"Never 'it yer muvver wiv a shovel", Maag mutters softly. "It leaves a bad impression on 'er mind".
Not willing to talk loudly, in case the group's totally peaceful intention to enspell, capture and interrogate the woman are overheard and somehow misinterpreted as hostile, Maag rises from his crouch by the statue and move over to speak to the rest of the group.
"I've got...er...professional experience...wiv tyin' people up an' stickin' 'em in sacks", Maag volunteers. "I can take care of dat".
"I suppose since it's a woman we'll 'ave to use magic on 'em. Wiv a bloke, once der tied up, yer just stick one of dese", he nods at the torch in his hand, "under der love spuds an' dey tell yer everything yer wanna know".
Maag looks at Sir Crestbrook. "All we need now is for someone st...brave enough to walk down der tunnel into certain de...danger, yeah, danger". He slaps the paladin on the shoulder. " 'ow about it Cresty? Yer up for it?"

Hurrying away from the group, the woman doesn't wait around to see what happens from Lerricks spell. She sprints through the well lit chamber and into another.
Maag delivers more backstreet proverbs and wisdom as the others wait to see what is about to happen. Suggestions of spells and sacks are tossed out, but Crestbrook will have none of that. He shouts again, leading the way for Gramble and Alordan, who both keep their eyes trained on the stone floor.
Crestbrook takes the torch from Maag and proceeds into the next chamber. There the party finds more statues, though these are much smaller. 4 stone kobolds stand in varying poses, all of them facing the wall with their backs exposed. They also see what appears to be an altar of some kind. There is incense burning in nooks in the wall above it, giving off the fragrant smell that you've noticed in here.
A second lit chamber lies just beyond this one, where the hooded woman just ran into. (arrow on map) The sound of hissing snakes is obvious the closer you get to the tunnel that separates the twin chambers. The magic from Lerrick's spell continues to wane.

Maag finds the new statues suspicious. Not only the sudden change from minotaurs to kobolds, but the fact that they are facing the wall. As the group passes through the room, he pauses for a moment to give each statue a good hard poke with his bamboo pole.

Racing into the next chamber, the paladin finds himself in what appears to be a living space of some kind. There is a simple bed made from piled reed mats with a normal wooden chest beside it. Shelves filled with jars and bottles line one long wall with more personal items stacked below them on the floor. The hooded woman is kneeling at the chest, retrieving what looks like a weapon from inside. "I don't know who you are, and I've never heard of your Brotherhood, but you should know that I am quite capable of defending myself." As she pulls a mace from the chest, Crestbrook spots a tiny snake wrapped around her upper arm.
The others follow into the room as well. Maag pokes at the kobolds along the way and they all seem solid to him. The other end of the chamber is kept dark. Several rags are hung along the walls from a makeshift clothesline and a small pool of water, likely feed by an underground spring, sits low to the floor. There is a dark pit that dominates the middle of this area, its contents cant be seen from a distance, but an obvious hissing noise comes from inside.

Saracen remains by the entrance to the chamber, eyes open, preparing to cast a spell should she turn out to be a bad un. He won’t say anything, letting the others do the talking, but will keep his mirror and Shield lowered but in hand. He won’t look directly at the woman, but will scam the room more closely as things progress

Maag stays out of the next room, electing to check out the altar instead. He pokes at it with his long pole, eventually hearing just what he was hoping for.
Crestbrook stops his advancement, attempting to parlay as he detects for any evil emanations from the woman. She is definitely evil.
The others keep their distance, staying near the chambers entrance. The groups ranger questions the hooded woman as well.
She answers both men as she slowly turns towards the paladin, her mace gripped tightly in her hands. "I am Cora. A simple priestess of the great and mighty Apep! I have come here to do his bidding, nothing more. I am not part of any puzzle, nor am I part of the town across the water. It is only me here. Me and my babies." The hooded woman raises one arm up and you can see 2 snakes entwining around it as she speaks. "Oh, ya......and Brutus......of course. He lives in here too." You still cant see her whole face under her hood, but she clearly wears an amulet with a softly glowing blue stone entwined with golden snakes around her neck.

The paladin grips his weapon tightly as well. [/color Cora, I, Sir Crestrook the Mighty, took an oath not too long ago to rid this world from beings with hearts of evil such as your own. I know not what foul deeds you are doing here. I do know that whatever it is will stop now! Agggghhhhhh!!!! The paladin lunges forward in a thrusting motion designed to put a foot of steel into the servant of Apep's midsection.
Attack and damage rolls respectively: [1d20+1] = 4+1 = 5[2d8+1] = 6+1 = 7
