Quest #21 "Island Hopping"

Gramble continues to follow getting restless.

Deciding to heed Alordan's suggestion and guide the group down the southern tunnel, Crestbrook continues tapping the floor as he proceeds deeper into the tunnels. Saracen lets the paladin have a ten foot lead, spreading the group out slightly in their single file ranks.

Sir Crestbrook stops again after reaching another intersection. The passage to his right appears to meet back up with another, while the tunnel that continues south gives off that same sweet, fragrant smell again. Peering into the darkness, the stoic human believes he can see the flicker of torchlight a bit further down the southern tunnel as well.

Another minotaur statue stands in an alcove at this intersection. This one isn't carrying an ax, instead holding both of its hairy palms out in front of itself as if to say stop. A distinct look of fear and disgust adorns the face of this statue.

Everyone...I believe I see a torch up ahead. He proceeds forward uses the
same procedure as before. Come...follow me. I believe what we find here may hold the secrets of this
labyrinth.



Lerrick

Lerrick waits for the others before she proceeds

Gramble moves forward looking down just in front of his feat, avoiding looking ahead.

Maag continues with the others, sure that nothing good will come of all these right turns.

Saracen continues onwards, leaving the 10 foot gap between he and Crestbrook. He will keep his half orcish eyes open and search the ceilings as well as the floor and walls, sword and Shield ready.

Crestbrook tells the others that he thinks he sees a light source up ahead. He continues forward, leading with the 10 foot pole. The others follow behind the paladin slowly. Gramble keeps his eyes on the floor, but doesn't share his concerns with anyone else.

Another chamber is found, this one harboring a pair of the huge bullman statues. The expressions on the faces of these statues are pleasant, as if the minotaur who posed for them was in a good mood that day. Another passage leads off to the west that is dark, but the passage leading straight ahead is obviously well lit. Through the narrow tunnel, another larger chamber can be seen beyond. The room has light and a fragrant smell wafts down the tunnel towards the explorers. A soft chanting female voice can barely be heard coming from the next chamber as well.

The paladin takes a breath, then bellows: I am Sir Crestbrook the Mighty, Sword of the Brotherhood of the Nine Silver Circles! Friend or foe!! Stand down! My comrades and I are coming in! He then moves forward slowly using the same procedure with the pole.


Lerrick

The cleric moves forward Wait!...I thought the brotherhood was the 6 silver circles

Alordan advises the brave paladin, "Keep your sword up and your eyes down - there may be something turning these things to stone!"

Maag

"Well, if dat didn't wake up all dese statues, nuffin' will", Maag says sourly.

"Why don't we check dis tunnel over 'ere?" He indicates the one to his right. "l reckon it looks like it leads back to der way out, an we'll probably need to run dat way very soon".

[Storm11]

Saracen gulps loudly at the cries of the Paladin. If anyone’s going to be surprised now it’s going to be us he thinks with a sinking feeling.

He follows ten feet behind the Paladin, whichever way the group suggests, prepared for battle as before.

After shouting into the chamber ahead, bringing out even more ire from his comrades, Sir Crestbrook starts forward. He only gets a few steps when a sleek, shadowy form moves into the tunnel opening. The figure is cloaked and hooded, making it difficult to make out specific details.

A sultry female voice calls back to the overzealous Gallant before he gets any closer.

“Welcome, Sir Crestbrook. By all means, please step forward and enter my sanctum. Your friends can come inside as well, if they so wish.”

Maag

Maag suddenly regrets being the idiot who volunteered to carry the torch. He realizes that it makes him the center of attention wherever he goes. He decides to at least make himself harder to hit and scuttles off to the left, hiding behind the statue.

Sir Crestbrook the Mighty

and brave dumb paladin do you sense any evil?

I believe we know the answer to that question already don't you.

The paladin drops the pole and pushes it back towards Maag, then takes out his shield, holding it in his left hand and gripping his sword in his right hand. He slowly moves back towards the others.


Lerrick

Fearing the worst, the cleric whispers a prayer when the group is all together.

Lerrick casts Bless

Alordan, with his eyes on the floor in front of the party, asks the voice in the darkness "Who are you that lives in this place?"

[Storm11]

Saracen will enter the chamber and put his back to the wall. He will fish around in his pack for the silver mirror and bring it forth, trying to angle it in such a way that looking into the mirror he can see the female figures reflection.

The holy champion says nothing but waits to hear the woman’s response.

Saracen and Magg slink over to the walls, allowing the others to move forward and brave Sir Crestbrook to move back. Alordan addresses the figure as Saracen pulls out his mirror to get a better look at this shadowy female. A soft hissing noise is barely audible once the woman begins to respond.

"Who me? Well, I'm........"

When the woman notices Lerrick beginning her spell, she quickly turns to flee back into the lit chamber behind her.

"No! No! Don't shoot! I mean you no harm!!!"

With her back suddenly exposed, the woman is about to rush out of the tunnel, so Saracen never gets a good look with his mirror. Lerrick frantically finishes up her spell before anyone leaves her vicinity.
