Tunnel Complex Station Stop, 297D/81 (Late Morning)

Round 3 Addendum...


Silvestri crawls over the seats and edges towards the end of the entrance hallway. He concentrates on the trailing Scavenger in the group and fires a beam of heat energy from his hands. The beam hits the target center of mass and a sphere of intense heat pulses forth from this epicenter. The insectoids ’SCREECH’ in pain as they are enveloped in fire! (13pt dmg each) The rotted carpet on the floor has vaporized, and residual flames lick the floor, walls and ceiling inside the area of effect. The psionist catches the wave of heat just at the edge of the fireball and has the satisfaction of watching the roachoid vermin burst into flames!

Ron risks a shot at Denslow’s opponent, but the chaos of melee causes the cyborg to accidentally graze his plantinet companion with a bullet! (1pt. dmg.)

Belial is more concerned with his advance to the rear than anything else. He falls back, trying to protect himself.

The air hums again as he tries to summon his pyrokenetic power a second time. Concerned that the enemy to is close for another wide attack he focuses on insect #1:

I'll spend a point of luck to bring it up to 14

Jets of flame shoot from Silvestri's hands and strike #1

Fire dmg: [1d8] = 8

Bruce

Maintains his weird footing, but is not willing to chance a more extreme maneuver. Instead he maintains focus on the target in front of him and attacks again with his Nunchaku.

Combat, Round 4


Bruce refrains from any sudden moves while standing in the strange slime. He works the nunchaku into a whirlwind and pummels the insectoid adversary (#6) multiple times, beating it into a mushy pump! (8+7+3=18pt. dmg) The Scavenger drops limp onto the floor – DEAD!

MacMak shifts to get a clear aim into the entry corridor. He fires down the tunnel at one of the flaming roachoids, but misses the shot.

OOC: MacMak must make a Reflex save vs. DC 12

Frank changes his target after Bruce destroys the Thorax Scavenger. The veteran shakes the wiggly slime off of his boots (Makes Save) and then swings twice at the roachling (#7) attacking Denslow, slicing across its back with one of the swipes. (7pt. dmg)

OOC: Frank must make a Reflex save vs. DC 12

Denslow wiggles his roots trying to remove the green slime, but it remains fixed and then absorbs into his bark! (Fails Save) The plantient experiences a wave of unseen energy and sensation that passes through his body. Both of his hands burn with pain, and an extra finger sprouts from his right hand and two from his left! Unsure of what just happened, his attention returns to the Thorax Scavenger, who he hacks with his polearm. (3pt. dmg) Denslow’s grip on the svetlegk, has become detrimental, but he is able to pull off the attack.

OOC: The extra digits are permanent. Denslow’s melee and missile attacks are at a -2 modifier for the remainder of this battle. This simulates the unfamiliar dexterity with the extra digits.

OOC: Denslow must make a Reflex save vs. DC 12

  • ~Silvestri and MacMak see the four burning Scavengers inside the entrance corridor retreat towards the hyperpods and the main tunnel, ’SHRIEKING’ as they go. Silvestri shoots an energy beam at one of the roach-beings, (#1) but the Scavenger moves out of range and it dissipates into thin air.

    OOC: The Scavengers had a better initiative than Silvestri, so they were able to move before his power could impact them.


Kurot and Ron wait for bugs to enter the room, but nothing emerges from the tunnel.

  • ~The Scavenger on Denslow (#7) stabs with its four short swords and buries one into the plantient’s bark! (DMG 6)


Belail moves at his maximum rate and withdraws into one of the empty storage rooms to lick his wounds.

  • ~The hollow tube dispenses another Thorax Scavenger, who bounds out and attacks Bruce. Two of the roachling’s short swords breach the synthetic’s formidable defense! (DMG 7)

    A Scavenger outside the tunnel entrance fires a blue energy blast at Silvestri, but it misses and impacts the wall! The blast looks like a smaller version of the weapon discharge that killed Blixx on the Long Route!

Bruce retreats to the eastern wall of the room as Ron Spartan yells his warning

His eyes glow red and his face blurs as the Android activates his Time Sense.

Denslow feels weird but soldiers on, attacking #7 again!

Silvestri dashes for cover over to the wall by the passage entrance (one square to the right on the map). Using the corner as partial cover, he returns fire on the insect-man (#9):

(Edit: spoke to the Mutant Master, and i've rolled wrong for initiative: [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19. I will try to burn the enemy 7 with my pyropowers, but also moving north, trying to avoid the enemies to the east)

Kurot returns to the corner of the entrance tunnel and tries to flashy-light the bugs...

Damn! Let's burn 9 luck to make it a 14 and avoid having his eye beams shut down for the rest of the day.

There's a pop and a hiss before the beams finally kick on.

After that near-malfunction, Kurot resorts to his rifle again.

Rifle (Short/Medium range): [1d20+2] = 9+2 = 11 (+2 if short range) [1d12] = 2
Rifle (Short/Medium range): [1d20+2] = 5+2 = 7 (+2 if short range) [1d12] = 6

He'd have been just as useful saying behind the seats!

MacMak shakes the wiggly slime from his feet (Makes Save) as he trudges through the green goo, moving north to block the eastern denizen’s field of view. The mutant seagull tries, once more, to activate his pyrokinesis but an unnerving sensation indicates the power fizzles and is impotent for the remainder of the day. (Power fails for the day, unless you spend 2 luck points)

OOC: MacMak must make a Reflex save vs. DC 12

Ron reacts, instinctively, to the new insectoid that emerges from the vertical tube. He fires his pigmonn rifle, but merely impacts the metal of the hollow column. (Miss)

Bruce withdraws from combat and presses against the east wall. The synthetic’s face blurs and his eyes glow red as he activates his time sense sub-routine, improving his attack and defense for the next couple of rounds. (+1 to attack and AC for the next 2 rounds)

Silvestri moves against the eastern wall, then leans around the corner and fires at the source of the energy blast. (#9) The psionist scores a direct hit (7pt. dmg) and then pulls back around the corner.

  • ~The Scavenger that was shot (#9) returns fire as Silvestri pulls behind the cover of the wall. (-2 to hit) A blue bolt of crackling energy strikes the psionist in the shoulder! (DMG 12) The intense pain immediately subsides as the wound is cauterized by the blaster strike!

    ~Denslow remains engaged and is struck by two short swords (#7) for minimal damage. (DMG 3)

    ~The newest roachoid (#10) makes a quick decision not to pursue Bruce. Instead, it spins and stabs Frank three times with its blades! (DMG 13)


Denslow prevents more mucus from absorbing into his bark (Makes Save), and tries to slash the roach-being. His hampered dexterity nearly results in a miss, but the svetlegk hits home! (10pt. dmg.)

OOC: Denslow must make a Reflex save vs. DC 12

Frank reels from the three wounds inflicted by the insect vermin and shakes the animated green gunk from his combat boots. (Makes Save by spending a Luck point) He levels two slashes against the same opponent (#7) , chopping one hand from a limb and sending the short sword spinning across the floor! (5pt. dmg; A CRIT, but with minimal damage)

OOC: Frank must make a Reflex save vs. DC 12

Belial remains inside the old storage room, safe for the moment from the fury of the Thorax Scavengers.

Kurot moves to the near corner of the hall entrance, but leaps across the gap to the opposite corner and avoids interfering with Silvestri. He leans over and activates his “bright eyes” sub-routine aimed at the Scavenger with the energy blaster. (#9) The light envelops the roachoid, but it proves to be extra resilient to the effects! (Made the Fortitude save vs. 14 and is unaffected by the power) The android fires his rifle twice, but the bullets miss their target.

Having packed a rag into the wound, Belial is ready to show his face again. He readies his crossbow and knuckles out into the main room. He sees the bugs in combat with his friends and heads toward them, stopping at the rows of seats.

Tunnel Complex Station Stop, 297D/81 (Late Morning)

Combat, Round 6

  • ~The roachoid (#8) who hasn’t yet attacked, tosses a 6inch gray-brown ball similar the one from the opening of hostilities. The rolling ball tracks across the floor and bounces against the tunnel’s wall, springing across and then back towards the Scavengers where it explodes inside the hallway! Streams of green mucus shoot in all directions and spray into the room past Silvestri and Kurot who are behind cover.

    OOC: The Scavenger’s target was just inside the room between Kurot and Silvestri. His attack missed, so I consulted a grenade scatter chart.

    ~As Silvestri exposes himself to fire, the blaster bug (#9) zaps the psionist with another bolt of blue energy! (DMG 8) The bug ’CHIRPS’ and ’CLICKS’ in an aggressive manner. Its partner (#8) joins in on the Scavenger dialog.


Bruce wreaks havoc on the tube arrival (#10), bashing the insectoid multiple times with his nunchaku. (9+9=18pt. dmg) The adversary is heavily damaged, but far from subdued!

Although severely wounded, Belial returns to the combat zone and courageously positions himself to assist his comrades!

  • ~The Thorax Scavenger (#10) counters Bruce’s strikes, but is only able to connect with one of its attacks. (DMG 4)

    ~Denslow is stabbed and sliced four times by his enemy (#7), who severely wounds the plantient! (DMG 11); 9 HIT POINTS REMAINING!


Silvestri leans around the corner, mindful of the persistent slime, and fires into the blast-bug! (12pt. dmg) The insectoid remains firm in its stance!

Kurot leans around the corner and flashes his ‘bright eyes’ subroutine three times into the group. He targets the blaster wielding one first, then its partner and then the group in his line of sight. Only the front two bugs appear affected, and they gyrate their limbs in apparent confusion over the bright flashes!

OOC: I gave #1 & #2 a 50% chance to be in Kurot’s line of sight. Both made it. In fact, you are unsure about the disposition of the other four fire-engulfed Scavengers who left the hallway

MacMak fends off the animated goo (Makes save) and concentrates on burning into Denslow’s adversary. It ’SHRIEKS’ as a tiny glowing hole is burned into its carapace! (3pt. dmg)

OOC: MacMak must make a Reflex save vs. DC 12

Frank slices across the insectoid’s (#7) back, felling the denizen with a mighty swoop! (DEAD!) He stomps his feet into the green muck, but is unable to keep it at bay. The acidic substance eats into his lower legs and burns with intense pain! (Fails save, DMG 8)

OOC: Frank must make a Reflex save vs. DC 12

Denslow manages to resist the invasive slime (Makes save) and slices the Scavenger as it falls to frank’s attack.
