Just as I expected, my dice hated me and refused to cooperate. Playing 1st edition AD&D, I rolled a bunch of 3s and 5s. The next game, playing Polaris- a roll under system where a one is always a success and a 20 is a critical fail- I rolled 17s and 19s. Don't tell me dice aren't sentient. Those little bastards knew exactly what they were doing! :x
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Oh no! Well, in similar news, I just started my 8yo on basics of dice. We both started at 20hp, and told him roll 15+ to hit, 20 is double damage so 2, roll a 1 and loss a turn. I beat him, but only by 1 point. We had a ball and now the 5yo wants in on it. Figured I could work in small variables over time and he could come into the game ready to go in x number of months.

Not to make assumptions, obv you know him better but honestly kids pick up the rules to games pretty well in my experience. Its often hard to GM for them cuz they just think of things i cant, but as long as you carefully explain it ive had friends who couldn't find a sitter have their kids sit in my games.

If you see this post where I have been updating inventory for Roy's repairs, you can see how quickly repair parts can disappear. They will be important, so you will need to keep stocked up. I am still working on an idea of how to set an actual dollar value to parts, but I like the idea of keeping the cost skill based for ease of reference. I am, as always, open to thoughts on this.

I'll be in the Chicago area for a conference this weekend, so I don't know how often I'll be able to check in here.

Have a fun trip scott.

I dont know how you feel but i always liked the d20 modern wealth system. I know some people hate it but i thought it was a pretty good abstraction of wealth mechanic.

I'm trying to play him a bit like he was in the IT Crowd that was after all my character concept ;)
