Stubble cursed and ran back to the gun and brushed the powder so it would not fire, and then the trail back to wherever the powder came from so it didn't cause more issues.

Siggard continues his exploration of the rear portion of the hulls exterior. Looking for any windows or other portholes he might be able to access or at least look into.

Bello

Bello keeps an eye on the infighting hands as he quickly reaches down to pull Alderhay away by his legs, sail and all. He tries to pull him to the top of the steps, once there Bello tries to cut Alderhay free.

Zoggrot holsters his pistol and draws his cutlass and axe. Jerking his head toward Goldie as a quiet instruction do the same, he tries to put his blades in the back of the ghoul's head.

Cutlass & Axe v. S/M (THAC0 20): [1d20+1] = 9+1 = 10 [1d6+3] = 6+3 = 9 / [1d20-1] = 6-1 = 5 [1d6+3] = 1+3 = 4
Doesn't include bonuses for backstab/attacking from the rear or faerie fire. The additional +6 should let the cutlass hit AC 4 for 15 or 18 damage if it's a backstab (depending on whether you include bonuses in double damage.

Goldie, +1 dagger: [1d20+1] = 4+1 = 5 [1d4+1] = 1+1 = 2

Forecastle

Alderhay, sacked in sailcloth and jury-rigged is unceremoniously dragged from the forecastle by the severed hands. He unknowingly thumps his head on each of the stairs, still unconscious, he'll wake (hopefully) with a few more egg sized bruises snd blackened eyes. Ferrol 'Bello', dodges the cudgel wielders who bash each other. Jumping the balcony to land by the body of Al, he severs the ropes restricting him. The four hands scuttle away before being severed further themselves.

Mainmast

Rexlin and Fishy slice and dice at the strangling hands, putrid rotten finger meat slices off bone. The roosting carrion birds dive to feast on the droppings. The crawling claws, outmatched, swing away on the rigging and out of reach. Rex figures it is time to climb down off the spars, Fishy suggests climbing higher. Perhaps the swaying hung skeleton is influencing proceedings? He points his musket skyward.

Starboard bow

Rene, the halfling shows the claw some sleight of hand of his own, taking it out mid air. The dagger blade skewers the claw which hangs limp and finally lifeless. You may paddle away from the ship, around to the stern section or climb back on deck amidships.

Amidships

Old Plighty sees the sparking trail of gunpowder. With a pegleg he can't outrun the flame so determines to do or die and dives through the closed stern cabin doors to dive on top of a figure in the hallway. "Beware me hearties, we've been betrayed by a double crossing hand." He takes down Pocc, bravely shielding the druid from the impending doom.

Stubble dashes to snuff out the ignited powder trail as a fatal countdown continues.

(6) A brave effort, chasing the sparking ignition trail (5) notwithstanding dodging a couple of crawling claws (4) which attempt to trip him up. Stubble stubs (3) his toes, pinching his blackened fingers to snuff out the fuse powder as it fizzles close to the gap into the powder hole. A sudden eerie breeze wafts the flickering flames, (2) Stubble heroically reaches his short arms at full stretch.(1) He should make it by a whisker ... but unfortunately the dwarf doesn't have any ...
... (boom)

Stern hallway

The cannon, so ably loaded and readied is actioned with a crashing boom. The cannonball crashes through the stern cabin doors, demolishIng them and punctures the hallway ceiling, erupting in an explosion of fiery splinters. The Will O' the Wisp gets vapourised like a bonfire firework, pretty etheral colours blown to the four winds.

The explosion causes a hole to appear in the ceiling through which a slow and thick, viscous ochre coloured sludge begins to ooze from above.

Stern and cabins

Pocc ministers a life saving prayer over the dying 1/2 orc Fenis. Pocc is then tackled to the ground by OP who further rucks over Fenis. Geoff, Goldie and Zoggrot combine to backstab and slash at the fleeing undead. One is cut down, the faerie ring silhouetting a bloody crypt thing that sleeps eternally now. Iggway pursues the three remaining who flee in squealing terror through the cabin window.

Siggard sees the fleeing ghouls. Pushing himself off the rudder he draws pistols and fires twice. Both bullets, even at point blank somehow miss targets. He levitates higher away from the ghouls who vacate the cabin by diving into the kelp ridden harbour. 'Gin' Van de Poel, remains tied to the mage and the rope tensions enough to pull him off the jetty. The mage can xarry his weight however and he swings above the ghoulish swimmers to grab onto the galleon.and begin climbing aboard.

okay folk, next actions please. All those standing in the hallway, (Zog, Goldie, Geoff, OP and Pocc) make a normal dex 3d6 skill check to dodge the explosive. Success equals -6hp damage, failure is -13hp damage. Fenis is mercifully shielded by OP and Pocc. Iggway is out of range.

Cannon fizzle test, to hit, damage [1d100] = 96 [1d20] = 13 [3d6] = 13

Rene

The Boy makes a quick check for more hands (he'll try to grab and throw them in the water if he finds them). If he finds none then he'll cast off and row for the stern trying to reach Siggard.

"What the nine hells is going on?" growls the half-orc.

Rexling and Fishy

Seeing that the zombie hands are re-deaded or scattered, Rexlin opts to keep his position on the spar and sheaths his sword to pick up Grace (Rifle) and point it up at the hanging deadman, as does Fishy. Twin blast result in...

Siggard motions for VdP to climb up to the top deck as he sees the halfling appear in his canoe.

"Careful mate! A pack of undead monsters just plopped into the sea near you. Stay sharp down there!"

He floats in mid air until Gin has made his way to the rear of the vessel and can pull him back around to the windows again.

Taking another peak inside, he tries to determine if the room is safe to enter yet. If so, he motions for Gin to wait at the rear of the ship while he crawls inside to reload his firearms.

Bello

Bello drags Alderhay to the mainmast near Rexlin and Fishy, keeping care to steer wide of the hold openings. "This has gone south quicker than an Iberian whore. Who the hells shot off a cannon?" Bello keeps his guard up, looking for more hands.

He motions to Alderhay. "He got jumped and beaten by the hands. I think it's time to regroup."

The three ghouls exit the stern cabin and dive into the harbour. The jetty runs a little past the stern and amid the kelp strands climbing the wooden frame, they emerge from the water to camouflage themselves in hiding. One (named Doug) pulls the axe from its' skull, tossing it, with a bit of cranium and brains into the ebbing tide. He sits motionless, sucking his thumb. Douglas and Dugless, (the other two) calm their fears by dipping oysters and snails entangled in the briny seaweed strands into the riven crevice of his head. Not quite the meat feast they anticipated after their failed ambush but a succulent treat nonetheless.

Rene paddles his canoe around to the rear of the ship. You can tie off by the rudder and nimbly climb up into a cabin while the ghouls remain driven away.

Van de Poel, still attached to the levitating Siggard, straddles the rudder top. With the golem spear in hand he can dissuade other climbers. Siggard enters the room via the open windows. He takes a minute to load the pistols with a bit of help from Face his Capuchin monkey companion. The severed hand in the cage waves putrid clawed fingers indicating 'me too' can help load a pistol.

The hallway is a mass of splinters; wood, glass and crockery. The men in the hallway are also a mess of splinters, as they stand looking like humanoid cacti. The essence of Will O the Wisp drifts skyward like a blown dandelion, fizzing with a smokey hiss if any floating remnants touch the organic sludge that slowly coagulates through the ceiling hole and spreads along in sticky pseudopods, feeling its' way into the room. Pocc and Goldie drag Fenis into the cabin and everybody begins to triage their wounds with ripped sheets. Iggway directs the proceedings with her medic skill.

Geoffrey takes a swig from his Monte Verde potion, passing it to Old Plighty and finally pouring the rest down the 1/2 orc Fenis. (+8hp). Their sneaky entrance blown, Zoggrot curses looking at the arriving Stubble for answers.

Amidships, Bello unwraps Alderhay. He looks very groggy and covered in bruises but alive. Fractures in foot and cheekbones will have to heal later. Rexlin and Fishy aim at the hanging figure and fire. The body twerks when a musket shot penetrates its' chest but it remains inanimately swinging in the breeze. Rex missed, probably put off by the ghostly levitating form of Siggard floating in the moonlight. A severed hand sheltering up a skeletal sleeve tosses a squished carrion crow at the snipers. It misses the pair and clangs off the gilded ships bell.

(Okay, next actions please. Rex and Fishy, Bello, Alderhay by the mainmast, everyone else in the stern cabin, room 4 on the plan).

edited to give brief room description: Starboard cabin room. Single carved wood bed with fancy curtains and detailed veneered cabinets. A globe lolls on its side in one corner. The room is carpeted with luxurious furs but much of the divan upholstery is torn and shredded. Ornate picture frames hang on walls though the pictures themselves are ripped. Scattered about are various trinkets and objects d'art. A lot of it has been dented or broken, tarnished by salt air or smeared in blood.

Keeping one eye on the ceiling of the cabin, Sig resists the idea of letting his caged hand help with the pistols. Once he is ready, he looks the rolling globe over a bit closer before moving to the fancy cabinets to see if anything there catches his eye.

He then walks calmly to the door of the room and opens it so the others can join him in his search.

Fenis

"Thanks, I wasn't feeling to well." Fenis will take a minute to recover and get himself re-oriented then he will search anywhere it looks like it might hold some dry clothing.

Alderhay stands on shaky feet, gingerly touching his bruised face.

After a few moments to recover his wits, he mutters a brief invocation to the island gods and some of his bruises fade slightly and a little colour returns to his cheeks. He looks around trying to take in the situation.

"Thanks, Those damn hands caught me by surprise. What's been happening?" he glances up at the body on the mast "That still there? Maybe we should focus on destroying it"
