The armor actually fits the not so gentle giant. It seems a bit tight, but it is much better than what he currently has.

The shield is nice too, though a bit small for the massive human. (acts as a wooden buckler shield for Monocar since it was halfling sized)

Saracen stands and claps admiringly. You sure look better! And with a magical sword as well you should be able to hold your own young man. They are now yours to do with as you wish. Pholtus watches over and looks after his own, praise the blinding light. Here is the blessing of Pholtus upon you great Monocar! the holy champion says, intoning a spell of curing over the big man.

[1d8] = 7

Now I must get down to some research of my own. If you will excuse me, and you Lerrick (if she followed us inside) the orange robes half orc bids them fairwell abs heads down to the ocean. He collects some sea water in a vial, and begins to experiment with it in the rays of the sun upon the beach, as the surf continues to wash before him. He tries his sacred prayers upon the water, he tries stepping into the ocean itself as he prays, moving the water through the refracted light of the sun’s energy as he chants fervently. This continues for the day, Saracen stopping only to take sips from his waterskin and to eat some left overs from the cook fires of poor Pterry.

Maag wonders for a moment about the wisdom of traveling out to the island alone. Then he has an idea. Cupping his hands around his mouth, he bellows across Beachtown:

"OI!!!!!!! ANYBODY WANNA TAKE A BOAT RIDE????!!!!!!!"

He waits a minute or two to see if there are any takers, then hands over the 10gp to Old Joe. "Let's go den".

Brother Gilbert
(conversation with Avaala & Treasure)
I thank you for this book. It seems to have much that will help me in my path as a cleric.

The encounter in the forest was peculiar; we were retrieving some possessions which were left behind. I heard a voice in my head urging the inhabitants of the village to move away from the shore. It said something like, "I was just looking out for the lives of the innocent folks of Beachtown, is all. Bad things are coming. The zombies were only the beginning. Sadly, things will get much worse for those unfortunate folks soon enough." That is all I know.

I had to track down the quote in the archives.

Alordan, now restless after resting for some time, overhears the 'conversation' to examine the island. Having sailed around previously, the island still intrigues him.

"I've sailed around this island before and saw some movement that I could not explain... it wasn't small movement either. We must be prepared. Perhaps we can convince some others to go along as well."

I will try to clean up a little confusion here.

I think Saracen was just saying hello, not asking for assistance. I think.

Gramble was speaking with Lerrick in the tavern....

Ho there, I have a plan to round up some giant lizards we saw up the beach to use as transport and labor. With the lack of horses I think it could be lucrative work. What say you want to join in and split any profits 50/50?
....if you would like to pursue that angle.

I have to do that about 3 times a day.

Treasure looks back at the priest quite concerned.

"Bad things.....Zombies.......and WORSE? Well that doesn't sound very good at all!"

"That settles it then! Figuring out what this supposed threat is or relocating these people must be our utmost priority........right Avaala?"

Avaala the Grey

"Agreed, Treasure," says Avaala. "And since, right now, every path we have explored leads to danger, we need to either find a safe place, or MAKE a place safe. So going after this villain should take priority, I think."

Treasure, I found her warning authentic, and do not know how much time we have. So far, the various search groups have not found a suitable place. I have heard the farm area in interior of the island is possible, but I do not know.

I think the best thing I can do at this point is rest, and carefully study this book. It will provide me with more abilities to assist in the search for a new location.

As per the GM, he will withdraw and spend a week thoroughly studying the tome.

Treasure looks back at the priest sadly.

“You won’t be coming with us then? You would rather read a book than to help us save these people? That must be one good book.”

“Can’t you read it a little bit at a time? In between adventures?”

Monocar

Reverently takes on the blessing and thanks Scarasen and Pholtus. He will take all the gear and seek out either Lightfinger or Luthar for help stashing it.

He will also use the rest of the day looking for a straight piece of hardwood or sturdy rattan to make a shaft for the spear. He will ask around about borrowing an axe or machete for the task.

Well, Treasure, I suppose I really should go with you and Avaala. The book will wait until I return. I hope Avaala has a safe place for it.

He will gather his things for another trip.

I get the hint...

Manocar finds an old farmer with a sharp ax that he can borrow.

"You ought not be wandrin roun in that danjress jungle anyway, if'n yer askin me, which I know ye aint. But it don't seem safe fer youngins."

"You being as big as an ox an all, we could use a nice young man like ya to stay roun hear ta help out!"

It takes a bit of time, but Monocar is eventually able to fashion a nice haft for his new spear.

Luther
After sleeping late, Luther wanders to the cooking fire,. He'll hang out there for a while, helping tend the fire and chatting with the guys who always seem to be there. He has no plans for anything more strenuous than fetching firewood and wading the shallows, looking for signs of fish and sea creatures.

On the 10th

Monocar spends the rest of the day helping the farmers clear away heavy logs and other debris from the next food plot they are attempting to plant.

Luther sleeps in and catches up on the local gossip, learning as much about the dwarves as the fire tenders know. He also learns that Mr. Nehru has uncharacteristically left Beachtown with a small group of folks that headed up the loggers trail.

Wading through the shallows of the pristine Azure Sea, the ranger once again finds no evidence of life in the water near town. No fish, not even minnows, and no crustaceans of any kind. The ranger knows that this area has been stripped of anything edible. Despite the fact that the townsfolk have been eating better lately, it seems that the natural ecosystem will take some time to redevelop again, if it ever does.
