Rene is totally puzzled by the hands actions. He's never really figured out what those fancy scratches are for, but a severed animated hand seems a natural source for them. He watches the mage to see what he will do.

Pocc remains where he is for the moment still ready to fight if needed. "Creepy is an understatement. That's just wrong."

Rexlin

Looking up at the corpse he elbows Fishy. I don't say this often... but ew... Hey! Blood! With that sail down are we at risk of driftin off with the wind? Or are we plenty anchored? I don't want to swim back to shore with those damn cabbages in the water.

He looks at Fishy. Recon she can still be fixed?

Siggard looks down at Rene with a strange look.

“Maybe we just leave him in there for now? Until we figure out what’s going on here?”

“Have you checked out this room for secret doors or compartments yet, little friend?”

Sig picks up the birdcage and moves to the doorway, motioning to Iggway. “Something clerical in nature here, whenever you get done scaring the new boys.”

He looks for Gin, motioning for him to keep close once the strange lights appear. If the scene turns hostile, the mage immediately floats up above the deck again.

Rene looks at Siggard, and realizing he's being asked a question stumbles on his words trying to answer "Nah nah look ........ yet"

He looks at the newcomer, and seeing Siggard addressing him, he assumes he is not a threat.

Siggard looks at the halfling again.

"Well, perhaps this would be a good time to ply your trade then, good sir? Show the rest of us what you got?"

The mage points around the room at the walls and other shadows.

"Lets keep away from that hatch until we have a chance to determine what those symbols might mean, though."

"Aye Rene do good job." Following Siggard's suggestion Rene begins to check the room for traps and look for secret doors.

Rexlin and Fishy

*grumble* keep your eyes peeled. You look Aft and Starboard and I will look for and port. I have that itchy feeling in my neck something is going to happen soon. He cocks his rifle to make ready... eyeing the hanging corpse one more time before scanning the points of the boat he mentioned as well as the water and horizon for trouble.

Bello

Bello lends a hand to VdP. "Siggard went in here, right? I think I heard voices inside." Bello knocks on the door a few times, then checks to see if he can unlock it. Failing that, he looks for another way in.

Yes Fenis, it is indeed! Iggway wraps the leather twine of her snake/lightning bolt holy symbol around the palm of her left hand and pushes the door open with her staff, then she enters the room.

Pocc follows with scimitar still in hand. "The sooner we get this place searched and figured out the sooner we can leave right? This place is creepy."

Prow cabin

Siggard calls for a cleric to check out the warded trapdoor. Through the broken window he communicates with Ferrol and Van de Poel, showing them the animated hand. The two cabin doors to the deck remain securely barricaded by the nailed planks and wedged shut from inside. Rene searches the room for secrets. The wooden cabinets hold nothing but a ragtag collection of unwashed clothes. A pair of Bermuda shorts could give him make-do long trousers and a thick wool cardigan be fashioned into a cloak. The sodden Fenis could benefit from a set of dry clothes also. The severed hand seems to understand that his cage door is not being unlocked. It reacts by swinging furiously on the parrot perch and crawling in rapid circles around the wire frame before sulking in a curled up ball, thumb tucked in like a baby suckling comfort.

Guineaman deck

Outside Alderhay joins Ferrol and Van de Poel, the Haldane risen to his feet. As they come close to the prow cabin, unseen hands toss a quartet of six-pounders over the forecastle balcony to assail the trio. Each of the cannonballs finds a mark, cracking skulls or squashing toes in boots. Ferrol is hit twice -3 hp, make a d20 roll for me please, VdP -2 hp and Al -1hp.

Old Plighty and Stubble are aided by the creepy-crawlie hand. It helpfully locates a loose cannonball and in dung beetle style, deftly rolls it along the deck to where the dwarf tries to assemble a working cannon.

Rexlin and Fishy sit on opposite spars of the mainmast. Above their head the skeletal figure gently twirls on the end of its' noose. Suddenly the carrion birds pecking it take flight as a cloaked arm jerks and grabs a crow in bony fingers. The bird is squished in a sickening splat, guts drip out and eyes pop. The carcass is then dropped below to clang off the edge of the gilded ship bell. Looking down the mast shaft, you note several blooded hands sneaking up the pole squirrel fashion, spiralling in stop start motion as they ascend.

Stern cabins

Geoff joins the group entering the stern cabins. Pocc remarks on the dread atmosphere. Having just boarded the vessel he hopes for a quick exit. Zoggrot listens intently for dangers inside but it remains dead quiet. Others bunch up behind the shamen Iggway who in faith, bravely opens the double doors and enters beyond. The nailed hands cease their happy clappy motions and give the party a 'thumbs up' signal as they pass through. Goldie goes to 'high fives' one, which then makes a subtle attempt to snatch a sovereign ring off his finger. Fenis squelches with each footstep, dripping a trail of kelp stained seawater.

The wispy etheral lights continue to ebb and flow between the group, pastel colours turning to radiant hues. They have a mournful presence about them, though in their aura the interior hall of the cabin is illuminated. (area 2 of deck plan). Several shut doors are visible. The area flickers in shadow and reeks of rot. Smashed glass splinters and crockery cover the floor. This area radiates a dweomer to Iggway, indicating they have been laid specifically to warn intruders are approaching. The door on the immediate left is half broken and dried blood stains on the panelled floor show a body has been dragged that way.

next actions please, hope to update Monday if possible.

Stubble nodded to the hand as he set the ball in place. "You're already doing better than some I've seen. Good work. Is there any powder about? I think we have enough for a ramrod here."

Zombie hands! Zombie hands! The hanged man is a zombie too! Look alive!

He sets his rifle in reach and grabs up his scimitar ready to take a swing at the first hand to come within reach, hoping Fishy does the same. save the load friend, this might not be the time

Alderhay swears like the street urchin he is as his toes get crushed by a cannon ball.

He looks at the other two "Let's get inside, hopefully it'll be safer". Approaching the cabin door he examines it for any further dangers or oddities.

Siggard isn’t surprised once the commotion starts outside. He quickly pulls out a charcoal pencil and a sheet of parchment, sliding them in between the bars of the cage. “Tell me what’s going on here, lefty. If I believe you, I might let you out of there.”

He looks down at Rene again. “It seems that someone doesn’t want us in here, friend. I am going to see if I can find a safer way around.”

Not wanting to mess with the cabin doors alone, or waste any more of his spell, he exits the room with the cage to check out the exterior of the ship. “Gin! Grab some rope and get back to the jetty, I have an idea!”

Hoping his friend can secure some rope and get off the ship before getting his head crushed in again, Siggard floats over the side of the ship and pulls himself along the outside of the hull towards the stern.

Rene

Hearing Siggard's comments and noting his leaving he follows him, bringing the new clothes he found in the cabin. When Siggard goes over the side, Rene goes a bit further astern and heads back down to his boat.
