Kelben listens at the door in the right wall, anxious to keep moving, but his progress is at least temporarily halted when, over the sounds of the noises made from his fellow party mates conducting their searches, the gnome hears the rustling of movement or some sort of activity on the other side of the door.

Sky, encouraging the rogue to slow down a bit, begins rifling through the desk and discovers a hidden cubbyhole which is filled with gold coins -- 365 in total -- and, mixed into the heap of coins are four translucent, brown banded gems -- agates -- which he guesses aren't too valuable, but could probably fetch 20 gold pieces each.

Oh, Sky finds some gold and suddenly you are interested, eh? That's why you take time to search- you never know where treasure may be hidden. The sorcerer will quickly flip through Treasures of the Fire Lords, seeing if anything is hidden inside or if anything in the book itself appears interesting, before putting it into his backpack to study again at a later date.

The dragonborn looks at the gnome with a mix of horror and disgust. No treasures in a library? Libraries are positively filled with treasure! Books themselves are treasures- treasures filled with the knowledge and ideas of those who came before us. Knowledge is the greatest treasure there is. Knowledge is power! And it can bring danger, as well. There are many willing to kill to gain knowledge, to do far more than they would to acquire mere gold or diamonds. With the right knowledge, you can do anything! Go anywhere. Control kings. You, sir, could stand to spend some time in a library. But Kelben, remember too, this is not just any library- it is a mage's library. Who knows what magical secrets may be contained here? I admit, I did not expect to find coin, but arcane knowledge may be contained in this room. Now, please treat the books with the respect they deserve!

The cleric just followed along. It seemed his thoughts were still bent on the apple and finding out the mystery. Though, the sudden find of gold piqued his interest. "Well, that is definitely worth 'something,'" he said. But, before he could join the gnome and look over his findings, the dragonborn opened up a book, and something strange happened. Hargrem tried to move out of the way. As usual, he was slow to react.

Belak’s Study
Klilxuac begins to page through the Treasures of the Fire Lords tome he secured moments earlier.

The instant the dragonborn flips the first page, an echoing boom fills the space while a blast of brilliant blue light fills the room as the book -- apparently trapped with a magical gylph -- erupts with magical, cold energy!

The attack is over almost as quickly as it began, but everyone still feels chill as your bodies fight to recover against the blast.

Klilxuac and Sky manage to escape most of the damage (-11 hp, each), but still feel weakened by the blast.
Hargrem staggers, his head still spinning as he combats the freezing shock to his system, but manages to remain on his feet.

Kelben is discovered lying on the floor, unmoving. (-22 hp)
Erky also succumbs to the injuries from the explosion; his collapsed body propped up against the door the group entered from. (-11 hp)

The sound of activity Kelben heard through the door in the southern wall intensifies, as they -- and likely everyone or everything in the area -- have been alerted by the booming shock.

The cold blast of energy tore through the group, leaving an unconscious gnome in its wake. Hargrem had to move quickly before whatever had heard the explosion investigated its' source. He said a quick prayer to Tymora as he moved to get Kelben back on his feet and healing himself in the process.
Action: Cast Cure Wounds (2nd Lvl Slot) on Kelben: [2d8+3] = 9+3 = 12
Bonus Action: Cast Healing Word (2nd Lvl Slot) on Hargrem: [2d4+3] = 5+3 = 8

Sky shivers and her fur puffs out to warm her. "That book had a chilling plot, huh Klilxuac?" Sky tries to lighten the mood. She moves to tend to Erky, seeing that Hargrem is reviving Kelben.

"So I'm guessing we're going to have company. That was rather loud." After checking on Erky, and trying to stabilize him, she will peek her head out into the hall to see if she can spot any movement.

People really should not leave explosive runes in books like that. People are going to get hurt. Reaching into his gear, he pulls out a Potion of Healing and drinks it.
Shaede, you can't cast both of those spells in the same round. When you cast a spell as a bonus action, if you want to cast another it must be a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action.

After the Blast
With their ears still ringing from the blast -- a blast that almost certainly attracted the attention of anything nearby -- those still standing scurry to heal, themselves and those that were less fortunate.

Hargrem says a quick prayer to Tymora, causing the holy symbol emblazoned upon his shield glows a cool blue. He kneels at the fallen form of Kelben and casts his 'Cure Wounds' spell at his second level of power upon the gnome... who returns to consciousness, gasping for breath.
Then, casting the same spell, at the same level of power, upon himself, he finds himself feeling a bit more rejuvenated.

Sky shivers, and her fur puffs out to warm her. "That book had a chilling plot, huh Klilxuac?" Sky quips, trying to lighten the mood in what is becoming a tense situation. She moves to tend to Erky, resisting the urge to paw and lick at the wounds, and administer actual care. The "other" gnome remains unconscious, but his condition appears to have stabilized.

Peering outside the main, long hallway they entered their current location from, the tabaxi finds it empty. All the noise comes from the adjoining room.

Klilxuac produces his healing elixir and drinks it, feeling a twinge of health restore to his form.

Keblen returns to his feet.

Note: Since both used a level 2 spell slot, and were spread across what would essentially be two rounds (instead of one), I substituted your 'Healing Word' spell (2d4 + spellcasting ability modifier) for a second 'Cure Wounds' spell (2d8 + spellcasting ability modifier). A bit better.

The sorcerer will move so the table is between him and the door (one square back, two to the left) and ready a Fire Bolt in case someone opens the door from the other side. Do we make a stand here or go back and find a defensible location? Or go way back and try coming at them from a different direction?
