Quest #15 "Taking Down Captain Bing"

Monocar
They're shooting at us! He keeps climbing the barrier intent on jumping off and charging the attacker on the right or at least scare the piss out of him.

Lightfinger hacks.
Trying to be quiet (And failing miserably), the Thief chops at the undergrowth just enough for himself to squeeze thru.

Chauncey grows more impatient with each passing moment. Having seen projectiles buzz by those on the barrier, he knows what he must do if he is to save the party once again. He begins incanting a spell he has never to date had occasion to employ, yet which for this situation seems entirely apt. Clapping his hands together, he rotates them obversely first one way, then the other three times in succession. Then parting them with a flourish, he fans his fingers wide. Springing to life in front of him, a humming disk of force approximating a shield spins wildly, vibrating the air around it. "I'm going to step out now, but you needn't bother attacking me! I cannot be struck by projectiles of any kind!" he yells in his best booming wizard voice.

Heading Back To Beachtown
Godsday, The 9th of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Lightfinger moves forward around the edge of the pile as Lerrick quickly scales the barricade like a monkey. Once she sees Monocar leap from the top and charge the shooting smugglers, she follows the huge fighter.
Luther and Alordan continue firing on the hiding men from the top of the pile. One of Alordan's arrows finds its mark, knocking the already wounded man to the ground. When the other man sees this, he turns to face further down the trail where he starts blowing some kind of warning on a tiny whistle around his neck. Monocar sees another human a short distance down the trail who takes off running towards the south. The whistling smuggler drops his crossbow and draws out a long sword to meet the half armored brutes charge.
Talaris sees that Chauncey is the only person left on his side of the blockade, so he moves up to protect the mage if he can. Chauncey offers a short warning to the opposing side, letting them know that he is about to enter the fracas. He sees an elevated bolt whizz past his head as he casts his protective spell, luckily just missing the cleric as well. A second aerial missile flies from the well hidden crossbow men high in the trees. This one hits Alordan in his thigh. 3 dam

Seeing the man make a dash for it he hollars for the others. We have a runner! Hey you! Get out of my way! Don't make me cut you in half!
Magic Broad Sword (Charge) [1d20+7] = 9+7 = 16 [2d8+4] = 8+4 = 12
And he does!

Alordan winces from the bolt in his leg and fires off two more arrows at the shooter on the left - missing wildly.

Lightfinger observes.
He tries to designate where all quarrels are issuing from. He sees the enemy now has plenty of targets to choose from, much bigger targets than himself. As soon as a projectile fires from the last source, the Hobbit dashes, weaves, skitters and darts from brush to bramble to gully in pursuit of the runner. His goal is not to engage, only follow discreetly and provide advance intel.

As reality realigns itself... Monocar's hit looks more like this!
Magic Broad Sword [1d20+3] = 18+3 = 21 [2d4+5] = 6+5 = 11

Re: Quest #15 "Taking Down Captain Bing"
Confident of his spell's flawless protection from missiles, Chauncey will exit the brush with the spinning force disk in front of him emitting a high droning whine and stride boldly to the center of the log barrier which he will scale so he can peep his head over in order to gauge the situation and see where all the projectiles are coming from. "Prepare yourselves, banditry! For I am preparing to release the hounds, as it were!" he bellows. He considers momentarily how satisfying it would be to magically release actual arcane, spectral hounds and makes a mental note to research the possibilities.

Luther
Luther shakes his head, watching Monocar. Boy's gonna get himself dead, yet.
He shoots two arrows at the crossbowman on the right.
attack [1d20] = 18
arrow [1d6] = 6
attack [1d20] = 7
He spits in anger as the second arrow flies wide.

Lerrick moves into the brush in the side of the path to the right and waits for those who need assistance.

Heading Back To Beachtown
Godsday, The 9th of Goodmonth

Luther and Alordan continue firing at the hidden crossbowmen in the trees. Out of their 4 arrows, one of them hits the elevated target, causing a grunt of pain, but not dropping the threat. Two more bolts fly from their weapons again as well, but they are even less effective than the arrows.
Chauncey hikes his robes to climb the pile, spotting the men that his friends are shooting at and giving them a fair warning before unleashing his powerful magic upon them. Talaris moves into the brush on the back side of the pile as Lerrick does the same on the other end.
Monocar uses his brute strength and magic sword to eliminate the threat fighting him. The man looked ready to bolt with his friend, but the half armored fighter is having none of it. He nearly cuts the bastard in two with one fell chop of his wide blade. More blood and guts build up on Monocar as he delights in the killing. (I used your initial roll of 9, but with a +3, that still hit
)
Lightfinger waits until the last twang of the bows are heard before taking off up the trail. He knows he will never keep pace with the runner moving through the bush, so he takes the path of least resistance, leaving himself more vulnerable on the open trail. He catches a quick glimpse of the human running down the trail before he disappears around the next bend in the trail. He is a good distance ahead of the thief already, but should still be easy enough to follow.

Luther

attack [1d20] = 8
Luther snarls as he wastes two more arrows on the man to the right of the trail.
He stows the bow and jumps down to the trail. He's heading for the trees to the right of the trail, planning to try and climb after the bastard who's up there taking potshots.

Lerrick smiles and takes a deep breath, then quickly climbs a tree behind her, then weaves her way through the branches
to a position behind the bandit, currently shooting at her comrades. When in position she attempts to swing from a branch and
kick the bandit off his perch.

Re: Quest #15 "Taking Down Captain Bing"
Centering the spell to efficiently catch the tree bandits on its edges so as not to affect his own party, Chauncey casts Sleep into the air above the forest path, causing a spray of twinkling sand-like motes to explode in all directions.
