The Plan
It is currently approaching the darkest stages of twilight, or dusk, which present only dim lighting conditions.
The night air is chill, but calm.
Just beyond the area of tall brush you're currently positioned in, which provides you near complete concealment, extends a clearing; a wide area of almost completely flat land with a total absence of trees, shrubs, or other natural objects which could offer any measure of cover. It's obvious why the seller or sellers of the egg picked this location.
An estimated 100 yards into this clearing stands what appears to be an abandoned two-story wood barn or farm house.
The mysterious stranger departs, affording the group some privacy to discuss their plans and strategies, or even abandoning the request all together.
Strega strains her eyes, scouring the distance between their current location and the barn, and with great persistence, manages to locate a small recession in the ground, maybe 30-feet in front of the barn, which is quite possibly the
only location in the entire area that will provide any form of strategic advantage. This spot is so obscure that, in the dim light,
Oskar and the rest are unable to locate the targeted area, even with the druid pointing it out, but trust, based on her description of it, that the half-orc will be ideally located in defense of their plans.
This location
Strega has identified is still several hundred feet into the clearing, in the wide open, so she knows extreme care and stealthing techniques will be required to reach her point without detection... assuming, of course, anyone or anything is even present to do the detecting.
Tannaris quickly examines the brooch and takes it to be a small silver pin, maybe two inches long, pointed on one end and twisted into a loop on the other. It's simple, and inconspicuous... which, given its intended purpose, is probably ideal.
The elf places it safely in his belt pouch and begins to listen to the others begin to discuss the plan of action.
"I'm gonna need a caravan... some muscle..." Oskar says, indicating
Tannaris and
Rumble.
"... and... he continues, turning to Bren, a dragonborn,
"... a dragon expert, to verify the egg is genuine."
"Now, there may be trouble," Oskar continues, securing the sack of fake diamonds to his belt.
"If this thing goes sideways, we save each other and destroy the egg, I think... we can't have it fall in the wrong hands, right?"
"A red dragon egg in the wrong hands can be immensely dangerous," Bren confirms.
"Without knowing the full details of the gestation and incubation period, it'll be difficult to know for sure, but I suspect it will take at least some time to hatch," he adds, while pointing out that keeping such a thing out of the wrong hands is imperative -- potentially including the hands of the hooded figure.
"I am hesitant to get involved..." the dragonborn admits,
"... but if not us, then who to see it done with justice?"
"You know the most about dragon eggs, so your call." Oskar says to
Bren, nodding in agreement.
"I'll handle the diamonds. You take the egg, and try to inspect. Everyone else, just be ready for anything."

Great work, guys! I really appreciate the effort.
So, with the plans in place, are you ready for the approach? If so, I will need everyone to make a Dexterity (Steath) check, please.
The nice thing is, because you're in dim light, the entire area is considered to be lightly obscured, which means Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight will be made at disadvantage. This applies to you guys as well, but for the defenders of the location (e.g. sellers), it will make it more difficult for them to detect you.
Rex, regarding your perception roll, when looking for a spot of cover for Strega, you provided three rolls, including one earmarked for Perception. Naturally, your Perception roll was used for that purpose, but the attempt needed to be made at disadvantage. Since I did not need a Stealth roll (at this time; I will in response to this current update), I took that roll result (e.g. 12) and applied your Perception modifier (e.g. +4) to give you a 16 total; enough to successfully locate the difficult (especially with disadvantage!) spot.
Also, for agreeing to take on this mission, I am going to award you each inspiration, reflected in the footer details below. Regarding inspiration, it does not need to be rolled at the same time as the roll it will be complementing; you're free to consider the result and apply it after the intial roll is made. The only restriction is that it must be made before my next update (e.g. you can see from my details that a roll missed, then attempt to add it).
