Alright, the forum's up here and I've added you all, campaign ID 331:

There isn't much there right now, but hopefully it won't be too long before I get the PC creation rules up.

Hey, I heard about this through Rusty and Falco on another forum and I'd very much like to join up. Unfortunately I don't appear to be able to send PMs (yet?) otherwise I'd have contacted you that way. What do I need to do to sign up if you'll have me?

Now you can. :D

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Welcome aboard smiler! Sorry I didn't get to this sooner, I'd forgotten to keep this thread pinned. Anyway, already PMed you and contacted the site admin to get a private thread set up, so we should be good to go whenever you're ready.

Speaking of which: now that we've gotten almost a couple of months into the gameplay, anyone who wants to join is more than welcome. The campaign style is somewhere between those old school play-by-mail games, those even-more-old school wargame clubs with in-world newsletters, and your basic run-of-the-mill Pbp. At the current rate it looks like we're averaging about 1 week of in-game time every 2 real weeks.

I think I'm ready to bring this game back. Does anybody want to play? We've got one player coming back so far. I'm excited to get back to Hikuptah; we developed quite an interesting ancient world sword & sorcery setting, if I do say so myself.

Game forum: viewforum.php?f=273

I'll be restructuring the concept a little. When I first ran it, the game was more like a true play-by-mail game: I had a private board for each player and basically ran private games with them, only bringing things out into public forums when PCs were in a city or interacting with other players. It turned out to be a huge load to bear, and players almost never bothered interacting, so I won't do that this time.

Instead, I'll run this reboot two ways:

1) Scenarios: I'll roll up a roleplaying wargame scenario (the first is already prepared and posted, but we never ran it before things got shelved). We roll up PCs or bring in surviving ones, you can choose your side (it's okay if all players are on the same side), and we roleplay a short battle campaign (sort of like what I outlined in this LFP post). When that's done, we do another scenario, and build up the world setting that way.

2) Adventures: I'll continue with individual PC adventures, but in the standard play-by-post sandbox way, like the North Marches game but less structured because obviously there will be fewer players. If PCs stick to adventuring together, that would be much easier on me, but I won't enforce it.

Rules: The 1983 original Warhammer box set is simple and easy to run. I will probably handle most/all rolls myself, but it's really not hard to learn the system yourself. Think of it like Warhammer Fantasy or Warhammer FRP, but simplified so that it's even more streamlined than Basic D&D.

Referred here by Rusty, I'm up for this if it goes ahead.
Are all the old details from 2015-2016 still roughly correct for use? If so, I'll give 'em a perusal and see what's what.

For Silvermane, you might want to just keep moderating those posts. :P

Also, more on topic, I think I'll give this a try again, Starbeard.

Ha! Your list does not intimidate me, I'm on at least seventy-four others and it is now merely the norm!

None of those lists every gets me into the party though -.-

@Starbeard - Are any of the character creation rules changing? I would assume not, given that the same basic rules (WH 1e) are in effect?
If so - character is rolled and... oh so terrible. He's gonna be a challenge to use, for sure.

That said - Falco mentioned there was a dice roller tied to the server - Is it mandatory to use that to show legitimacy of rolls? Cuz I mean... if you're forcing me to re-roll I'll have to begrudgingly accept. Seriously. Force me to reroll. This was horrific. How can you roll 3 1's in a row on a D10?!?!?!?

Hi Rossik, Rusty & Silvermane, welcome aboard! I think that's certainly enough interest to get things rolling again.

Edit: I've added you all to the game group. It will take me a few days to get things organized and ready to go, but I'll be monitoring the game for anyone who needs help rolling up a character.

The character creation rules will not be changing. As you noted, they're basically the original 1st edition Warhammer rules with only very minor changes.

However, I will give everyone 100 experience points for these characters, so fighters can gain +2 Initiative or +1 Initiative/+1 Secondary Combat Skill, and wizards may gain choose twice between raising Constitution, learning another spell, and choosing a specialization (of which the only available at the moment is Necromancy).

And yes, go ahead and re-roll on the US Dice Roller :) If you need a tutorial, I believe there's a post in the Help section here, and any of us can also help you out.

You'll have to create a new character for the campaign (Campaign ID 331), then make sure that your rolls are made with that character selected so they go to the campaign dice log.

I've put together a thread on character creation here: viewtopic.php?f=273&t=4705

Like most old school games, it's mostly dice rolls. I'll probably have everyone ignore starting money, and have the scenario dictate what they can pick as starting equipment.
