CHAPTER 8a: R&R at Hagalton II

#1 Post by Norjax »

...

The Long Route, Day 8-15 out of Hagalton

An hour or so after the staff explosion, all of the victims have recovered their sight and most of their hearing. Silvestri performs psychic healing on Ron and Frank, still feeling guilty over the accident.

Belial performs the death howl of his people, a primal means to honor the deceased.

You continue to mourn for Blixx, but recognize the need to make haste and continue towards Hagalton. You camp for the night and head out early in the morning.

---

The 7 days of travel are uneventful and at the end of Day 15, the town comes into view off the horizon.

Once again, you have reached the security and comforts of Hagalton.

Actions?

Cumulative Ammo spent:

Silvestri: 1 rifle
BruceLee: 2 pistol

Hit Points [Luck Points]:

Belial – 57/57 [9/9]
Bruce – 50/50 [12/12]
Denslow – 42/42 [16/16]
Frank – 63/63 [13/13]
Kurot –50/50 [10/15]
Ron – 69/69 [15/15]
Silvestri – 60/60 [14/14]

Everyone (who requires rations) has 15 day of trail rations remaining.

Everyone is healed to maximum after 7 days of travel. All have fully recovered their luck points except Kurot, who recovers his 1 point per week.

Frank regenerates 6 hp per day, so Silvestri’s psychic healing was use on other organics. With 4 heals per day, I will say all have been healed by Silvestri (in addition to natural, daily healing).

Kurot, Bruce and Ron perform self-repair using spare parts. Kurot used 7 gp, 7 sp worth, Bruce 2 sp and Ron 5 gp, 7 sp. Kurot had 30gp of repair parts with him, both Bruce and Ron would have had some but none was listed. This repair cost of 1d7 sp per hit point was determined by rolls. Bruce and Ron’s deficit will be subtracted from the sold loot tally.

Kurot = 77 sp => 7 gp, 7 sp
Repair cost = [10d7] = 49, [8d7] = 28

Ron = 57 sp => 5 gp, 7 sp
Repair cost = [10d7] = 50, [2d7] = 7

Kurot looks for places where he can resupply on repair parts—and maybe refill his empty rifle shells.

Denslow says, Finally. Let's sell this stuff. We still have that underground complex to explore, and perhaps we should recruit another.

Belial

Absotively, dude!

Belial is back to being his "normal" self. He pitches in, helping haul the treasures they've collected and selling them wherever.

Silvestri agrees on the selling the stuff we've gained and re-equipping before we head out again hopefully this time with a mount to ride.

He'll help unload the stuff as needed.

Town Map

Kurot visits Po Ellol, the arms and armor trader (4). He inquires with the kinky-haired man about reloading the empty shell casings. The stocky human rattles the brass shell casings and examines them with a magnifying glass. “These are in good condition,” he says. “I can reload them for 5sp each. I’m busy today, but can have them for you by day’s end tomorrow.”

Image

--

Kurot visits Yar Burnblak, the Repair and Supply Mechanic (22). Yar is a little ‘touched’ and ‘not quite right in the head’. His skin is tan and worn like old leather, and his eyes have a wild quality and he doesn’t blink often. Yar operates an aerial trawler that he uses to ‘fish’ items out of the Crack in the Earth. Some say his time spent inside the Crack has twisted his mind.

“How may I be assist you, a fine specimen of those Lost Ages from before?” he says looking at Kurot with his wild eyes and a helpful smile.

--

Denslow, Belial and Silvestri mingle and haggle to sell off the loot.

After a few hours and visiting several merchants, they have collected 427 gp, 3sp and 5cp.

There are 19 Kaliber 7a empty shell casings unclaimed

You still have to claim and/or sell Blixx’s equipment

Kurot willingly pays the fee to reload the shell casings.

To Yar Burnblak he says, "I am need of spare parts. Repair materials. Things I can use to fix myself when parts break down. Or, more commonly, are damaged."

Silvestri visits Obo Grittz (9) and inquires about a mount.

Image

“Did your Quicksten die already!?” Obo asks. Once assured the beast still lives, Obo becomes more cordial and leads you back to the stables. (54) “My friend, I have four mounts available for purchase. Three Pard horses, quick and long-legged, and a single Kastur horse. Her breed is aggressive with thick legs and strong bones! Since you allowed me to purchase some of your spoils, I’ll give you a deal. 100 coin (Gold Piece) for a Pard and 250 for the Kastur Obo hovers in mid-air, wearing a toothless grin and anticipating your purchase.

  • There are three Pard Horses. Thin, long-legged capable of great speed and bred for the arid environs of the Wretched Regions. They are butter yellow with reddish-brown bands and stripes.

    100 gp each
    Base Speed = 40/rd
    AC = 12
    HD = 2+2
    Load = 200 lbs full move/300 lbs half move

    A single Kastur Horse. This breed is aggressive and has a bony growth on its forehead, which it uses for head butt attacks. It has thick legs and strong bones.
    Black hair with wide, gray vertical stripes.

    250 gp
    Base Speed = 25/rd
    AC = 13
    HD = 4+4
    Head Butt = 2-8 (1d7+1) dmg.
    Load = 350 lbs full move/525 lbs half move

Silvestri’s Animal Handling skill can be used to assist his selection of the horses. (No roll required)
He will also need this skill to train the horses for simple voice commands. (Roll required)

--

Kurot asks Yar (22) about spare parts for self-repair. The wild-eyed mechanic simply smiles and asks, “How much does ya need mi Tin Man?”

Image

--

Ron wanders the town seeking information about Blixx’s kinfolk. People remember the mothish mutant from previous visits, but they know little of his people.
Blixx originated in the Zatox Territories, far to the west.

--

Frank seeks out ammunition for his pigmonn rifle. Po Ellol (4) is still waiting on a resupply from the Confedorksy, but offers to reload any empty casings for 5 sp each.

Image

“Plod Jakee (25) might have some ammunition,” Po adds. “Her prices will be much higher than mine. Probably around 5 coin per round.”

Frank then enjoys some drink at Gunas Pell’s. (34)

Image

“I remember that group,” Gunas recalls. “It was those damn one-eyed monkeys that made an impression. They first arrived over a month ago, buying supplies for a trip into the Zone. I last saw them a week ago. They spent several days with the healer (56) and then left a couple of days before you arrived back into town.” The barkeep pours Frank another drink. “Now that I remember,” the man ponders. ”The blue dwarf wasn’t with them this time.”

I needed a new time keeping method besides the number of days out of Loge Thantos and/or Hagalton.

The original adventure party left Loge Thantos on the first day of Aglahn (Fall), day 183. That was 105 days ago, which places the current time 14 days into Delahn (Winter). The time would be read as “The 287th day in Delahn of the 81st Cycle” commonly abbreviated as 287D/81.

Frank Rock

Thanks Pol.. I appear to be a bit financially embarrassed at the moment..but will leave these casings with you and will pay you on my return
Frank hands over the casings he has with a hand shake and a smile\

Good info and good drinks Gunas. Is there anything specific you need from the waste?
Frank asks as he gets his gear together to leave.

Gunas ponders Frank’s offer and then replies.

“Mol-Ortz Puffballs. I can make a fungal liquor from them. I’ll pay you 2gp per large sack collected.”

Hagalton, 287D/81

Since your group has gained a good reputation among the locals, a lone adventurer from the coast of the Exica Sea has been introduced to you. He is an avian manimal based on a seagull. His feet and legs are out of proportion to his body and he sports a single, all-white eye in the middle of his head.

His name is MacMak and he is here to seek his fortune in the Gam’A Zone.

Now please, if you wil MacMak, excuse us, says Denslow. We lost a dear companion on our last trip out and need to perform funeral rites for him. I assume his people have the same traditions as my own, so I will take him to be mulched and his remains placed in the Great Compost so that others might live using his nutrients. You may follow if you wish.

Denslow heads to the nearest Plantient Funeral Home and Grinder with Blixx’s remains.
