Lightfinger pouts.

Hoping to bring something back to camp that might alleviate his current missteps, the Tallfellow realizes quickly that searching these particular bodies is a fool's errand. Just as he's about to turn back...
...He hears the Chief and his cadre of sycophants coming his way. If he's able, he'll find a quick place to hide, if not (And I already fear he's not) he'll attempt to appear to spot something in the water, something he clearly can't get to, in an attempt to further deflect attention from himself.

Sharing The Camp With The Natives
Sunday, The 7th of Goodmonth
Early Afternoon, Hot, Misty

Chauncey finds a nice spot to rest outside the cave where he enjoys the scenery and allows the native people to wait on him when he needs a cool drink of water or a fresh banana.

Luther picks up where Monocar left off, helping the natives with their daunting task of rebuilding. He learns a lot more than he teaches this time, absorbing as much knowledge about jungle construction as he can in the process.

Lerrick continues looking over her new armbands. The suspense of not knowing what they can do is starting to wear on the young cleric. Talaris continues trying to convert the natives into following in the ways of Pelor.

Lightfinger spots an oddity mixed in with the rocks near the base of the waterfall. There is a long rectangular shaped stone sticking up out of the pool. It doesn't look anything like the other natural rock formations around it and to the trained eye of the thief, it appears to have been carved from one solid piece of granite. The misty spray obscures him from getting any better of a look.

When the chief and his entourage find him pointing into the pool, the approach him sternly. The chief says something to him that sounds VERY serious, before calling on his shaman to come over. The heavily painted shaman begins a spell that causes the Halfling to gulp audibly, though once its finished, he doesn't feel any different. The pair presumably discuss the findings of the magic, but Arte doesn't understand a word. The chief looks down at him in disappointment before simply walking away without saying anything else.

Off in the jungle, Alordan and Monocar are glad that they haven't found any resistance from the remaining smugglers. The warriors they are with seem content as well. They don't seem to understand why Alordan would be pointing further down the trail, so they instead point up the trial, back the way you came.

Actions?

If everyone is content to stay here for the day/night, I can move this along accordingly.

Lerrick is content with staying and praying to Pelor to revive her powers to heal.

Alordan gets the feeling that the natives want to return back to camp and that they don't seem too concerned about the smugglers. "I'm ready to go back I guess. The extra rest would do us all good. Let's at least set up some defenses around our perimeter - it is a dangerous jungle still. With or without the smugglers on the trail..."

Monocar

After scouting with Aldoran the big man nods. Yeah, let's head back. Looks like they are on high alert for now. They probably know more what they are doing than we do... Lets get back and get some rest... Hope another night's sleep will have me feeling more myself in the morning.

Lightfinger gulps.

Well, He thinks, At least they didn't scalp me. Relieved, he'll eyeball the peculiarly-shaped stone a moment more. Finally he'll attempt to scoot back into camp as inconspicuously as he's able and tell others of his party of the oddball stone.

Approximate size of the stone, plz?

Sharing The Camp With The Natives
Sunday, The 7th of Goodmonth
Early Evening, Warm, Misty, Buggy

Lightfinger estimates the oddly shaped stone to be at least 6 feet long and roughly 2' by 2' square, much larger than he himself could retrieve, even if he could swim through a tumultuous waterfall. The mist around the area, especially at the base of the falls, is so thick that it obstructs the halflings vision at times. He returns to the others near the cave to report his findings to Chauncey and the others.

Alordan and Monocar return to the camp with the warriors, noticing them looking to the tree tops quite often as they travel. They continue to speak and make strange calls into the jungle as you travel, but neither of you are really sure what any of it means. Once back, the ranger sets up a few more perimeter alarm trip wires that the natives look at with confused interest.

Talaris seems to be failing at his attempts to recruit new parishioners, se he spends some time alone, staring into the fire pit. Lerrick continues to fiddle with her new bracers.

A few rough shacks are put up for the majority of the tribe to sleep in as the reconstruction seems to be moving along well. The day begins to wane when the natives invite you to share another meal with them before preparing to retire for the evening.

Ok, last chance if there is anything else you need to do. If not, I will pick this action up again in the morning.

Alordan is a little concerned that his comrades aren't more concerned about tonight and tomorrow - after all that's happened in such a short time on the island.

He will try to set up a watch with the neighbors. He'll try to depict the rising and setting moon by drawing it in the dirt and pointing to 2 or 3 people to try and convey the concept of guard duty every few hours.

Chauncey will consider the stone Lightfinger mentions. “Well, that’s definitely something to investigate,” he says, sounding distinctly fatigued. “I’ll make it a point to ask the Chief about it tomorrow. Right now I simply do not have the energy.”

When Alordan discusses keeping watch with the natives, they don't seem to understand exactly what he is getting at.

They take him aside as the light of day starts to fade on their now peaceful clearing. They point up into the treetops in several places around camp. The ranger has no idea what they are trying to show him initially.

After staring into the trees for a long time, the woodsman finally notices a single native up near the top, waving down at him from his perch high above. He looks at the other trees that were pointed out to him and he spots a few more aerial sentries hiding in the leaves, keeping a vigilant birds eye watch over the entire area.

Alordan finally feels safe enough to let his guard down a little and get some much deserved rest.

Lerrick continues to pray to Pelor to regain her power to heal as she is quite sure that the powers will be needed soon.

In a quiet, out of the way place, of course.

Alordan smiles and nods at the native showing him the unseen guards. He settles into camp and thinks that tomorrow he’ll start to teach a few how to use a bow. He hasn’t seen any of the natives using one and it could be useful in an attack.

Luther

The big ranger smiles and nods when the 'watchtowers' are pointed out. He has a good dinner, looks around for his 'girlfriend', and -if he doesn't find her- settles down in the cave, snoring loudly.

Sharing The Camp With The Natives
Moonday, The 8th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Warm, Humid, Buggy

Luther looks around for a while, but he isn't able to locate his would be girlfriend. He checks with the natives coming in from the fields, but she isn't with them either. The ranger finds himself having a hard time even remembering what she looked like now, so he slips off to the cave again for some well deserved shut-eye.

The warm evening passes to nightfall, and then to morning again. The adventurers become accustomed to the rushing sound of the nearby waterfall which is actually aiding their sleep now with its loud white noise. With no intrusions into the camp during the night, the group awakens the next day with a renewed energy from all of the rest and good meals they have been taking in. everyone gains 1 hit point back for sleeping and can memorize/pray for spells again

The natives are up at the first trace of light, tending their fields and continuing to rebuild their camp. However, they don't appear to be setting up a large community breakfast for everyone this morning.

Talaris speaks up once everyone is awake.

"I will pray to the mighty and just Pelor on this morn to regain my humble powers. Are we planning on heading back towards the town on the beach today? We are not exactly close at the moment. It is more than a full days journey if you will remember."

Monocar

Wakes up feeling great and looks around for food after praying ever devoutly to Pholtus. He looks over to Talaris and scratches his head a little. Do you think we should leave them alone here? I mean... They seem to have their stuff together, but I kind of feel... I dunno... responsible for them? What if we leave and something bad happens?

Talaris nods his head at Monocar respectfully.

“Monocar, I see you are a praying man. Some day we should have a long talk about Pelor and what he could offer you.”

The half elven cleric pats the fighters arm and points out towards the acres of prime farm fields.

“Look around you, my huge friend. Look out there in those vast fields, overflowing with delicious and nutritious foods. And the surrounding fruit and nut trees producing a plethora of ripened goodness.”

“These people are so much better off than the folks back in town, it’s ridiculous. They don’t need our help! If anything, we need their help! Their whole world was ripped apart by Bing and his goons, and a day later, they act like nothing ever happened to them. That’s some serious resilience.”

“I think we need to figure out a way to combine the two communities together in a way that benefits both of them. But how we do that.......I don’t know. I seriously can’t figure out what they are saying! I spent all day with them yesterday and I’m not sure if I learned one word! I don’t know how Kelief was so good at it. He must have had magical help.”

“I believe it is now our duty to get ourselves back to Beachtown and tell them about this place. Someone better than me will have to return to attempt negotiations with them. Hopefully, they are interested in having some new neighbors.”
