Bronze Goat Inn: Upper Level (Epsilon only!)

You round the corner and make the turn to head up the second half of the stairs leading up to the second level. Once you've cleared the turn, the flash of movement is unmistakable; someone was lying in wait in the stairway, apparently eavesdropping on the discussions taking place on the main level. While you managed to escape detection while leaving the lower level, this individual way lying in wait, like a spider in a web, waiting to pounce once their attack could be completed while out of view of the masses on the level below.

A dagger slices through the air, aimed at your throat. Your instincts kick in and you're able to duck just in time as the dagger passes over your head and sticks into the stairway wall.

Epsilon quickly utters a few discernible words and, before Guillaume has a chance to even remove his dagger from the wall above your head, he turns his back and flees at full speed; climbing the remainder of the steps to the second level, all the way down the hall, to the last room on the right (room 10; you guys were in rooms 7, 8 and 9 last night).

Experience points: 50 (defeat) + 100 (successful 1st encounter) = 150xp

Epsilon exicitidly pulls the dagger form the wall and pockets it. Equips mace and buckler and runs down to room 10 the words to a sanctuary prayer on his mind as he keeps alert for anymore traps.

is that 150 x 1.6 = 240 or is the 150 already monified?

I will always post unmodified amounts, so the 150 will translate into 240xp for you. I do try to update the Experience Points thread immediately, so always feel free to take a look there to verify awards, amounts, totals, etc..., letting me know if you discover any discrepancies.

You race down the second-level hallway, passing your old rooms on the right hand side. You arrive at the end of the hallway and face the door to room 10, which you saw Guillaume retreat into. The door is closed.

If you haven't already done so, please update your character sheet to reflect the newly acquired dagger.

The door opens into a room, only slightly larger than the rooms you and the rest of the party has been assigned. A few details jump out at you immediately:

* The room is decorated similarly to how yours was, with two beds, each with a chest at its foot, and a single desk with a lantern (unlit).
* The room feels slightly longer than the rooms you had been in.
* There's a window on the far wall.
* While closed, there appears to be a "door" of some kind in the far-right corner of the room.
* You do not immediately see Guillaume anywhere.

You see the door open into a long, narrow passage. Along the left-hand side of this passage are three windows and along the right-hand side are three more "doors," all of which are closed. Clearly, this is the means by which access was to be made into the neighboring guest rooms (7, 8 and 9... your old rooms). Guillaume is not in the hallway.

Actually, this secret passageway you found runs from room 10 to the far wall of the Inn on the second level, and does not lead to the kitchen or anywhere else on the lower level. In fact, the kitchen is just beneath room 10, in the far northwest corner, on the lower level.

I quickly drew the following map, which will hopefully help you picture the layout of the upper level.

The wrap around stairs are in the middle on the right. The hallway runs the length of the middle of this second level, with four doors on either side (3-6 on the left, 7-10 on the right).
Yes, I meant to have five rooms on either side, but my description noted only four doors per side and rooms 7-9 were assigned to the characters, so I just kind of went with it.
Anyway, the group had been sleeping in rooms 7, 8 and 9. There was a passageway behind the secret doors found in those rooms. Access to that secret passageway was gained from room 10, occupied by Guillaume.

just to be sure.
the secret door in 10 goes into the secret hallway that just runs behind 7,8,and 9. No other hallway or stairs. if that is the case

epsilon will instead go open the door to room 6

Correct.

Epsilon exits room 10 and moves to open the door to the room directly across the hall, labeled room 6. The door is locked, and scrambling from within is heard once the attempt to open the door is made.

The doorknob offers little resistance to your mace and crumbles to the ground, and Epsilon manages to kick the door open with little effort.

The inside of the room appears very similar to that of the rooms you've already witnessed, with the exception of the occupant. Staring at you, with a long scar running down the side of his face and a sinister grin, is an average-sized human. This individual is wearing leather armor and wields a short sword. "Nobody messes wit' my stuff!" he snarls.

Epsilon acts quickly. He flashes his ankh holy symbol while reciting well-rehearsed words and performing the intricate physical gestures required, managing to successfully cast Sanctuary.

On the verge of lashing out with his short sword, this sinister-looking adversary quickly appears to become confused and loses interest in facing off against Epsilon. He shrugs his shoulders and instinctively rubs a slender finger along the length of the scar on his face.

Noticing the splintered pieces of what used to be the door to his room, he bends down and begins picking them up.
