Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Saal pries the door open with his crowbar, damaging the lock in the process.
Behind it, he finds a stairwell, appropriately sized for the little people in the group, that goes down.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
"A passage winds downward, companions. Should we venture into this unknown before we return to our normal selves?"
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Shmehk looks at the others.
(Low Lankmarese)
"If you wish to venture forth, I will stay here and guard the room. I'm not sure I want to play around with those potions, working out which one may reduce me to small again"

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Hlalf enters the small doorway and decends the steps.
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
You guys will need to light a new torch, as the old one is sputtering out.
You descend the stairs. They descend... down, down, down... the walls of the stairway remain the same type of brick as the chimney as it switches back and forth.
The stairway continues down for more than 100 feet, and shows no sign of stopping. As far as you can tell, it goes down several hundred feet. Do you want to continue going down?

"Wait up Northman! I'll back you up!"
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
While the others are investigating down below, Shmehk will do a more thorough search of the lab, including the remains of the automaton.
He'll also check out the door that leads to the other side of the house, he won't open it but he will listen at it.

Alright, so curious about Aurs, and how light is working at the moment. Who is holding light in each group?

Shmehk has 4 torches left

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Hlalf continues after briefly waiting for his ally. Unless someone tells him to stop he'll keep descending.
100 feet would just be down to the ground floor again at Hlalf's size so this probably goes to the basement.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Hlalf and Saal find it very difficult to descend without light... do you have a limit on how far you will descend, or just keep going, in the dark?

Hlalf lights another candle and holds it with his shield arm.
We go no further than bottom of stairs. Wait for Shmehk.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Hlalf and Saal descend the tiny stairs, using the illumination of Hlalf's candle.
They descend 100 feet... 200 feet... the brick gives way to larger, colder stone as the stairs continue deeper.
After descending about 300 feet, the stairs end in a square room, about 20x20. The room looks like it hasn't been visited in a fairly long time, though there is a table with benches on the north wall, opposite the stairs. There are two doors, one going to the east, one going west. There are a set of coat hooks on the east wall next to the door, but no coats (or anything else) hang from them.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Tough week at work (finals are close and I'm the teacher).
I'll be following the group into the door if I'm the same size. I bought my gear RP-wise as just a regular guy, not an adventurer, so for the time being I'm short on gear. If someone passes me a torch or we find one I'll wield it.

No prob. As a teacher myself, I totally get itAureoBuendia wrote:Tough week at work (finals are close and I'm the teacher).

Sounds like you guys are going by candlelight, which is fine, though the light won't extend as far.

Hlalf will listen at the eastern door, while shielding the candle light with his shield from casting light through any cracks or keyholes.
Hlalf prefers candles because he can snuff them out quickly if needed.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Do we have some sort of passive alertness, should we roll to see how well we're able to analyze surroundings for strange things, or will Judge inform us of anything key before we need to react to it?
Want to get a feel how much we need to 'roll intelligence to find traps/see anything important.'
As far as positioning goes. I'll stay as close as candle holder to react if anything comes up.

Luck Test: [1d20] = 1
Apologies that it took a whole day to roll that. If I'm MIA with a roll pending, feel free to roll for me after whatever amount of time is deemed appropriate.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Listening at the door, Hlalf hears a scraping sound, which seems to be right on the other side of the door. It is hard to tell what it is, but there is a distinct smell of dead animal... curr and rot, in the vicinity of the door.
