Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
While team patches up, can I roll an Intelligence check on the potions to see if I sort out some pattern or get a better idea what it's about?
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Do you mean about the white potions and what is going on with the growing/ shrinking, or the stuff on the table?AureoBuendia wrote:While team patches up, can I roll an Intelligence check on the potions to see if I sort out some pattern or get a better idea what it's about?
Sure, you can roll. I'd say it would probably be with a d10, as this seems pretty outside your area of expertise.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
The potions look liquidy and the bottles are fancy.
Analysis of potions [1d10] = 4

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Once rested Shmehk will help examine the potions and the table with the other kit and potions on, hoping for some kind of paperwork to help explain them
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Shaidar can make an int roll for that with a d20.
Saal, you find the door to be locked. Do you have anything size appropriate to pick it with?

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
I've got a dagger, some wire from a Garrotte, and a lot of gusto!
I don't know if Rogues start out with a kit?

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Thieves don't really start out with a kit, but if, in your travels, you come across something that could be used as a Lubbock, or you buy one, you can have one. A search in a bunch of junk could turn up something, for example, but you don't have one at the moment.
Shmehk finds that this alchemical equipment probably was used to make these potions, and there seem to be three kinds... white (which made you big), black, and amber. The alchemist gear is probably worth a decent amount, but it's glass, so it is pretty fragile.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Shmehk will look around the rest of the lab for notes or anything that might identify what the other potions do.
Just to confirm if I have understood this correctly - the other potions and the lab kit are small?

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Hlalf ponders as the others investigate the room: " One man drink milk, he grow and another shrinks. If all men drink milk, all grow... who shrinks?
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
There is a "large sized" alchemical lab in the southern end of the room, with a bunch of large sized black and amber potions.
There is also a "small sized" shelf with small sized white potions.
There is a small sized door in the chimney, and a large sized door opposite the chimney, so far, unexplored.

Shmehk replies to Hlalf
(northspeak)
"A good question, I don't know the answer, but perhaps we should drink the milk one at a time while those who are big go as far as they can away. When you grew things in this room shrunk so I hope that will happen again with no big folk near"
he looks over to Saal
"I could try and force the little door open with a dagger"
drpete, thanks for the clarification on the sizes of things.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
I grabbed one a while back. Which color is it?
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
The small sized potions on the small shelf were all white.
Up (30 or so feet above you) is the table with the other potions on it.

Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
"I am curious as to what lies beyond this small door, perhaps our perpetrator cowers on the other side? Either way I think it wise to make a way inside the chimney."
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Ok. The little door opens away from you, so it's not something you can pry open with a dagger, but Shmehk can try to break it in with a DC 14 strength check, if he wants. Not sure he is up to it, right now...
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Oh, silly me, I have a crowbar in may backpack, can I use that?
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Shmehk will wait to see if Saal has any luck with the crowbar before trying to break the door.
Re: Chapter 3: The Lord's House
Sorry for the delay, folks... long thanksgiving, followed by some post-celebration conking out
Saal can use the crowbar, sure... it's not the usual delicate instrument for picking a lock, but it'll get the job done.
To "pick" a lock with a crowbar, you can use your pick locks bonus, but with your strength, rather than agility, mod. So you get a +1 rather than a +3. You have a DC of 14 on the roll.
