Dr Jason O'Roarke your honor. Pleasure to be in your town. he grins at the man in the suit. I didnt want to miss the introductions but I do need to check on something with the locals and he nods to Bur, Just want to make sure hes on the same page, but dont you worry sir, I will help give a tour of where we make the sausage.

He waits a few moments to be sure he can excuse himself without appearing rude, and walks over to Bur.

Hi, dont know if you remember me, I'm Jason O'Roarke, we met at the coffee shop briefly. I know you were supposed to speak with Jacob, but he isnt available He does his best to look genuinely concerned And I sure would hate it if first thing that happened was we didnt hold up something Jake had said so, he reached into his pocket and produces a business card Day or night you can contact me. he looks back to the mayor and the others talking, Is there anything I can do for you at the mome t? Just want to make sure we have everything operating smoothly with everybody, ya know?

Etta waves Julia over and introduces her and her mother to Mayor Sanders. While the Mayor greets Julia's mother, Etta leans in to Julia and whispers, "Are we ready inside? Is it a good time to take the Mayor on a tour?"

Assuming that Julia doesn't give her any reason to pause, she leads the Mayor into the lobby, and introduces him to the team members in there. "Did Roy scamper off? Well, I'm sure we'll bump into him somewhere or other."

Roy shakes his head and rubs his eyes then pears out the window to try and find the thing he swore was looking in the window at him.

The Firehouse
Ribbon Cutting Day
Aug. 9, 2018, 9:55am
Hot and humid outside.

moving this time up a little more as we go since I am sure everyone is wanting to keep up the pace In my mind these things are not necessarily.

Julia and her mom come over at Etta's waving. They are polite towards the mayor, but they seem less excited. Julia leans in to speak back to Etta: After the ribbon cutting. It is starting here in just a few minutes. We should be good then.

The Mayor nods to Jason and seems pleased if overly calm about it. He seemed like the kind that didn't get overly excited about much. That'll do, Doc. That'll do. he professionally slide over to greet Julia and her mother leaving Jason to whatever he needs to do without seeming rude but with that numbing sense of authority that left the younger man knowing he was used to being in charge. (Yeah he has an ultra high cool)

Bur looks up at the young buster and bristles a little at first until he finishes speaking. Then he seems to relax and nods appreciatively. Good to see someone acting professionally. Can you tell me what happened with Jacob? Everything is alright I trust? the camera guy moved his tripod a little and began taking live shot of the front of the firehouse as the crowds gathered around behind them. It became obvious that the ceremony was expected to start very soon.

There were a couple large transport vans pull up and there are small crowds gathering of well dressed people in the back of the main crowd.

Roy Only just makes out someone rounding the corner to behind the building from where he can see out the window.

I wish I could, but we don't really know much to tell. There was a minor equipment issue earlier and while we were resolving it he became unresponsive. He stops and looks concerned, Jacob is a top shelf guy so we are waiting to hear back about his condition. But that's really all we know at the moment. It has been a hectic morning.

Finishing touching base with Bur he saw the crowd was coming together and checked his phone. "Five minutes to go." If you would, looks like we are about to start. SHakes Bur's hand and makes his way back over to Etta and Julia. So who is ready for this.

Roy lets out a loud exhale relieved that it was a person and not a ghost watching him. Then he wonders what the heck did they see? Shrugging it off he goes to find a book to read.

Etta nods to Jason. "Yes, let's get this show on the road. I'll go grab Lionel and Roy and Mac."

As she heads into the firehouse to collect the rest of the Ghostbusters, she pulls out her phone and dials up her daughter, Lily, to see if she and her family are going to make it in time.

Mac finishes up chewing the fat with the guys from town hall. They exchange numbers, and he's beaming over the notion of a contract with the city and the operational lattitude that may accompany it. He spys Etta, now in "mother hen mode", coming to round him up for the actual ribbon cutting.

He puts on his best game face, gets ready to meet the mayor (which just about as alien to him as walking on the moon would be), and follows along politely.
I saw this in a cartoon once, but I'm pretty sure I can pull it off.

Lionel "Freight Train" Williams

Mingling with the crowd, the big man does his best to be "one of the guys (and gals)," shaking hands and answering questions as long as they don't get too sciency for him. Seeing Etta, he excuses himself from a conversation with two young women interested in how much free time the Ghostbusters get, and if one of them might be interested in joining them for dinner that evening.

The Firehouse
Ribbon Cutting Day
Aug. 9, 2018, 10:00am
Hot, humid, and crowded outside.

Bur nods slowly to Jason as he shares some details. You don't say.... hmmm... very interesting...

Eventually, everyone is gathered about the podium as J.T. takes a position directly behind it and leans down to the microphone. Uh... Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today...

Mayor Sanders rolls his eyes and gives his the man a Gibbs slap to the back of the head.

J.T. Winces and starts over. Eh... right. Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, let me present to you the mayor of our proud town...

The Mayor City.

J.T. City... Mayor Sandy Sanders. he then steps back and gives an exaggerated clap nodding here and there as if to queue everyone to begin applauding. There is a loose smattering of claps, some more enthusiastic than others as the mayor in white steps up to the podium, waiting a moment before he begins speaking.

The Mayor begins: Dear citizens of Fort Smith. It is my esteemed pleasure to appear before you today on this fine morning to officially welcome you and our newest additions to a new beginning here in the city. We have a long history in this city of investing large sums into out long established, police and fire departments, and EMS which if you look around, are all around you right now. But as many of you have said since the events in New York some years back, and in recent years as the frequency of similar happenings in our own homes seemed to become more commonplace, there was something lacking in that department. Quite literally in this case.
If you see a fire you rarely call a police patrolman, and if you see a robbery you would never think first to call an ambulance, just as you would not call the fire department about someone breaking into your business. So... when citizens began to voice more and more concern about supernatural sightings in their homes and businesses, we found ourselves ill-equipped. So, as is my good nature, I contacted those powers that be at the Ghostbusters Head Quarters way up in New York, to ask what could be done. And when they mentioned the possibility of opening a franchise, right here, on this spot we stand now... Well, I could do little but jump at the opportunity to personally pay for the cost of bringing in the franchise to our beloved town, personally investing in the ongoing safety of our people...

A voice booms from the back of the crowd from among the groups that arrived by van. A man dressed in a dark suit of very old-fashioned cut, and a wide-brimmed hat. His voice is old and showing some weakness although it resounds with practiced skill. Charlitan! It is through faith alone that our town will be saved. You and your lackeys are selling us out again Mayor Sanders!
How much tax money did you steal to squander on this farce?

The mayor pinches his nose briefly and mutters something under his breath, then leans in and whispers something to J.T. who then says something the Gabby and a few others who all go into motion. Mayor Father Belmont, how nice of you to grace us with your precence, yet again. As always, if you would just wait before you go about interrupting everything, we can get on with running our business before you put on your show.

Father Belmont I will not wait idly by while you sell our town deeper into the heathenistic ways you so readily promote as you slander and lie your way through...

Officer Hightail Steps out into the space that had opened up between the secular and religeos forces. Alright, that is enough both of you.

The Mayor That's right, Arrest him and his whole pack of rabble rousers. The come here to disrupt a city function and disturb the peace...

Father Belmont Arrest us? No! Arrest him! Calling us rabble rousers? You are the one making a spectical here!
Shutting down an entire street to stroke your own ego. Pride goeth before the fall!

Everyone can see there are three factions quickly forming between those that came with the Mayor, those that came with Father Belmont, and those trying not to get caught int he middle.

Officer Hightail Enough! If either of you so much as twitches towards the other, and don't calm down, I will arrange to have you ALL arrested for disturbing the peace and riot! Is that clear?

The Mayor leans in to Gabby. Can he do that? She nods. Sanders rolls his eyes. Gimmie those scissors, J.T. Holding them out and hurriedly in a loud voice. I officially announce the Fort Smith Ghostbusters Firehouse open and that today in Fort Smith is officially Ghostbusters Day. J.T. give them the plaque. In a flurry of motion, the mayor clips tha ribbon, and moves in for a quick picture just as gabby hands Julia and Etta both a bouquet of flowers apeice and Lionel finds J.T. shoving a plaque in his hands. The cameras flash and there are a scattering of cheers even as the group with Father Belmont shout out less than nice denouncements. Before things can get too out of hands the Mayor and his people push everyone in through the doors which somone locks once everyone is in the lobby.

Okay... so Julia, her mom, all the busters, the mayors people, are inside the lobby, the front door is locked there is a lot of noise outside but a little meta game, nothing of consuquence yet.

Everyone please roll me a moderate cool for the pictures ;) lets see if anyone was caught with a Huh? look. 10 or more to look good :)

J.T. Well, that went well...

Mayor J.T.... I wish your head was good for more than a conveinient place for you to hang your teeth...

Looking at the plaque that was shoved into his hands before being hurriedly ushered back into the firehouse, Lionel manages a lame, Uh, thanks. So, who was that guy, Mr. Mayor? He doesn't seem to like us very much.

Jason manages to react to the camera on time, as they are shepherded inside the lobby. He finds himself back near Ms. Pendelton who is still looking concerned. Xin chào lần nữa. Hello again. I didn't mean to eavesdrop earlier but I heard you speaking on the phone. I picked up a bit of Vietnamese from friends and spending too much time in noodle shops. I didn't mean to scare you off earlier. He smiles politely at the young woman. Will you be joining us on the tour?

Roy holding the book he was trying to read stands in the back of the group since he is over 6' tall and tries not to look too awkward with a closed mouth smile and a mildly goofy look in his eyes.

Etta maintains her pose, even as she is being hustled past the cameras. Peering out the window at Father Belmont, she says, "Oh Lord, we have ourselves a charismatic."

She eagerly waits for the Mayor to answer Lionel's question about who this local firebrand is.

First things first, welcome back Scott! I hope Extra Life went well! Please fill us in on the ooc thread when you can!

Second, I know it is a holiday week, but this usually means more posting from me rather than less, but no pressure either way. I hope you all have a grand week.

The Mayor heaves a frustrated sigh and answers the question from Lionel. That there boys and girls is a pain in my ass named Father Belmont. That old codger was an old codger when I was still a schoolboy myself, and he is still terrorizing me and my town. A bunch of crazy religious zealots. Bad news. He likes to show up to big events and squak a bunch of noise. Come to the fold and all that so long as it is his fold. I would have thought his followers would have thinned out over the years, but seems they have gone up recently with all the supernatural sightings

Gabby looks up at Jason in surprise but offers him a nervous smile.Na. It's a softer a but you speak well. You didn't scare me. I had to get ready for the mayor arriving. One of our people got us a heads up that Father Belmont and his people were coming. I let Officer Hightail know and got our own people close to the door for... well
.. I guess you can see... and yeah, I'llbe along. For the tour I mean...

Yay @ more posts

Well thank you, he says as she complimented his attempt at her language. So is that Father Belmont guy just "local color?" I haven't had a change to dig into researching the area in depth. I just got into town and between settling in and the incident at the coffee shop yesterday, research has been kind of back burnered. He looks at the young lady, No better place to get info from, than from a friendly face. Would you want to get together sometime and let me pick your brain? He smiles warmly at her trying to be as friendly as he can. Well, I guess someone has to start this party.
Charm: [5d6] = 20 Ghost:[1d6] = 3 I am going to address the crowd, hopefully the charming makes them warm up to me.
He clears his throat and speaks up trying to address everyone in the room. HELLO, Hi, I want to thank everyone for coming today to our grand opening. He waits until the crowd has settled and most people have begun to look at him, Thank you, all. I am Dr. Jason O'Roarke and the best advice I ever ever got when it comes to public speaking was "Don’t try to be too charming, too witty or too intellectual, just be yourself.” So apologies in advance. He smiles warmly at the crowd, hoping the self deprecating humor would get a couple of laughs.

Before we kick off the tour, I would like to take a minute to introduce the rest of my esteemed colleges that you have had the pleasure of meeting. While we have only worked together a few days I dont think you could have asked for better to help protect this lovely city. He begins motioning to the other busters as he speaks about them. We have Lionel 'Freight Train' Williams, from the gridiron to Ghostbusting let me tell you, this guy has moves. I am glad to have him watching our backs out there. Then we have Roy O'Dowd, expert at repairs, and great taste in movies. He takes a beat before continuing. Now Dr. Vanette Conklin and "Mac" McAuslan have just arrived but already proved to be invaluable assets, and to hear him talk I betcha me and Mac arent from too far apart. So we will try to be on our best Bluegrass behavior, right Mac. He nods to Mac as he says that line. And last but absolutely not least, the hardest working member of the Ol Fort busters, Julia Dunst who has overseen the chaos that is getting this up and running. He surveys the crowd, Does anyone have any questions or anything to add before we start?

Gabby offers a nervous smile but looks a little grimmer as the subject of Father Belmont is brought up. He scares me a little, to be honest. He doesn't care much for... Well, for anybody I suppose. He wants to push his strict rules on everyone that he does on his own congregation. Ever read the Crucible? He makes me think of those kinds of stories. I'm worried that people that keep looking for witches are bound to find them, you know? No offense... She said a little sheepishly. When the invite to get together comes up, she clams up again and turns like she is going to walk away, but at the last minute, she nods a little before moving over to check something with one of the other city officials.

Jason wrote: Well, I guess someone has to start this party.

J.T. Pipes up with a raised hand, although he doesn't wait to be called on. Oh, uh... so where is it that you keep the ghost? Do they go in a bottle, or a lamp, or something?

The Mayor Takes off his hat and rubs his face in a not so successful attempt to hide his embarrassment, or then again, maybe it is a kind way of displaying his embarrassment so everyone can see it... when on considers his character. J.T.?

J.T. Yes, Sir?

The Mayor Hush.

J.T. Yes, Sir.

A few other questions come out from those gathered.
I heard you use some kind of laser beam that re-kills a ghost. Is this true?

What safety Protocols do you have while operating all these equipment?

Are you bonded and insured? Who pays for damages?
