Burned Bush Wells
Re: Burned Bush Wells
The Wichita Kid follows Stokes out the door, hoping for something more exciting than shooting wolves—but not too exciting.
Re: Burned Bush Wells
With a sigh as he contemplates leaving the warmth Rusty adds "Might as well get going while there is still light. At least we know where there was an intact pelt and hopefully we can be back before the sun sets and it get real cold."

The rest of the party head out of the saloon into the street. The wind whips the heavily falling snow around in your faces. Fresh snow is just starting to gather in drifts around the building and between them in the street. The wind brings tears to your eyes almost instantly. Then you remember the blizzard that drove you into Dirty Dan's Saloon to start with.
Inside the saloon, Cal looks at Sawbones with a peculiar smile. "Yes Sa'. Men go by all sorts of names. Some they earn. Some they jus' git stuck with. Dave is David Danielson. Dirty Dan. Best groomed fella you are likely to meet this side of the Mississip." He shrugs.

Sawbones nods his head.
"Gotcha! Well, thanks fer the drinks and the information, Cal. I spect we'll be seeing ya again sometime since we aint going nowhere far anytime soon."
"Much obliged, friend."
He tosses one wooden buffalo nickel onto the bar for the man, glad that he warned him to stay away from the hungry gamblers. Then he tightens up his coat and pops up his collar before hustling after the others.

"Shall we be quick about getting the pelts from yesterday? Don't want to spend too much time out in this weather." Rusty asks as he shivers and leans into the wind.

Yup. Let's get that pelt and get back to town and warmth. I don't want to be out here any longer than we need, but I don't want to leave money out there for someone else to find, or some animal to eat it and ruin the pelt.

Re: Burned Bush Wells
Referee Dialog You ride out to find the wolf carcass from last night. At times you can barely see the entire group riding around you. Your hoof prints and the wagon trail are long obliterated by the drifting winter snow. After a couple hours ride you get back around where Rusty shot the wolf. Fingers and toes are long past numb. You can't help but notice in the near blizzard one draw looks pretty much like the next. You look around to see if you notice any sign that you are in the one where the dead wolf is. |
Tactical So you are in the area to look for the wolves. I would like each of you in your next post to roll d100 (Low is good). And in your post mention what in your background would help you find the carcass. This can be anything but it will be weighed to determine who, if anyone, finds the dead wolf. |

The Wichita Kid can't believe he's out in this weather, looking for a dead wolf of all things. "Shoulda stayed in town," he gripes to no one in particular. He pulls his cloak around him against the cold.
"Well, let's find the damn thing so we can get out of all this snow." He sniffs the air, hoping that the stench of the dead wolf will give it away.
Here, wolfie wolfie wolfie: [1d100] = 35

"Unless you like white, there is not much to see. So lets see if we can't find it. I though I shot it near this copse. Rusy replies as he looks for the corpse.

Sawbones has no business being out in the cold looking for one silly pelt.
Everything looks the same out here to him.

Nahum
Nahum looks diligently for the wolf pelts, thinking back to how he used to have to defend his families sheep from the wolves and having to track wounded wolves since their pelts brought in valuable income. "This way I think."

OOC: Nahum grew up on a sheep farm, dealing with lost sheep and wolves.

Next time I have a great idea that requires us to head out into this cold, remind me that I can't pull a trigger if I lose my fingers to frostbite! the gunfighter manages to get out through chattering teeth. Fortunately, the keen eye that allows him to size up opponents and catch the slightest twitch at the start of a shootout helps him spot a patch of fur sticking out of the snow. I think it's right there, at the base of that tree. Let's grab it and head back to town. Pulling his knife, he is willing to start gutting the corpse unless someone with more experience as a hunter wants to step up and take over.

Re: Burned Bush Wells
Referee Dialog Most of the flesh of the deer corpse rotted away during warmer weather the remainder has been mummified by the cold. It is of no value. You are able to break the wolf corpse free of the snow. Your horses shy away from having the corpse put on them. It takes a while to calm them down wrapping the corpse in a bedroll helps and you are finally able to get it strapped on and get moving. Hands and feet are numb by the time you get back into town about noon. |
TacticalHad to read through the freezing rules. You are all at the first stage which is just a -5% on first shot and to hit determination, which is negated once you can spend an hour out of the weather. What are you going to do once you get into town? |

Nahum
"Lets dig around and make sure we have them all, then get out of here. Might as well grab the deer as well, I am sure we can salvage something off it, even if it is just a meal or two."
Nahum, loads the wolf up, searches for anything else of value and then leads the way back once everything is loaded up.

Disappointed momentarily that what he thought was the wolf turned out to be just a deer, he is quickly able to see the silver lining and helps dig both animals out so they can get back to town (and warmth) as soon as they can.

"Good job finding it Nahum. Now let's be gone before we end up like that deer." Rusty says as the wolf is found and extracted.

Let's get this back to town and see if we can get our bounty like this. It'll be hard to do anything with the pelt until it thaws. And until we thaw.
