Add reason for edit to edited posts?

Depending on how a DM is set up as a forum moderator, a "Reason for editing this post:" entry may show up when editing your post. But that only shows up if you're set up as a moderator with the ability to edit other people's posts. It does not show up if you're set up as a moderator without that ability (incidentally, that distinction also seems to determine whether edits of your own posts as DM show the "Last edited by <User> on <Date and Time>, edited <N> times in total" messages that all regular users get when editing a post).

Would it be possible to turn the "Reason for editing this post:" field on for everyone who is editing a post? Often, in a game where I'm a player, I'd like to edit a post and remark why. I can always add a comment in the post itself, but the built-in code formats that a little more nicely.
