IC II
Re: IC II
Meagnor the Elf agrees with Tratiln "after all, it's an elvish village. But I suppose we want to return to Threshold and deposit these jewelry."

Re: IC II
Tratiln recalls hearing that all trolls possess such a heart, a kind of organic geode that is the source of its regenerative powers. He is unable to determine whether the jewelry is magical; the chainmail likely is, and stoppered vials of liquid tend to be as well.
Re: IC II
Lanny the elf
Lanny spends some time walking around the troll lair just looking at the bones.
"The number of bones suggests that this troll, and indeed these very caves, have been around for a very long time... These passageways may go on for miles and miles... For my part, we have completed what we set out to do - to finish clearing the ground floor of clues about Bargle and Elwyn, and then to eliminate the troll threat that we knew to exist. I would suggest that we gather up these treasures and return back up the stairs and replace the barriacades in front of the double doors... Just like with the portcullis in the western part of the caves, I have no interest in waking the dead or the deep creatures of this place..."
Lanny will assist in gathering the treasures into sacks. If the party votes to return to the surface, Lanny will take a moment to take one last look through the backpacks of his old comrades, looking specifically for any writings or personal effects that they may have kept which he could return to their families.

"It is unlikely that Varis or Myrall will be able to identify the items immediatelly, they will probably require at least one day. Perhaps one of you warriors can test the armor to try noticing anything unusual about it. The jewelry we can easily carry with us but I am of the same opinion as Saul, we should avoid wearing it."
"Isn't that what adventurers do? I agree with giving priority to the noble task of saving the elven village, but I would like to explore this place further in the future. Good point about barring the door! Without the troll here any creatures beyond this point might be tempted to occupy the upper level."frobozz wrote: "The number of bones suggests that this troll, and indeed these very caves, have been around for a very long time... Tratiln is amazed after watching the troll's heart disappear, "I had heard of this before but never had the chance to witness it. Facsinating.

"I have never seen a troll before. Only heard stories. Nasty buggers, them."
"I agree with elf number 3, we should take these treasures back to Threshold for safekeeping, then ride with all haste to the elven village and remove the ogre threat."

Re: IC II
Saul think for a second on Tratlin's words on taking horses back to town:
"I say Jake and someone else should go back to town and deal with our loot and get him rested. We killed the troll, we cleared this cave. Our job is done.
We could explore the rest but if we want to help those elves I say we do our exploring on our own time and when no one is hurt."
He turns to Jake "You can ride Castanha, just remember to feed her an apple and she'll give you a smooth ride home. Meanwhile we could head out and you join us when you're ready."

Re: IC II
It is mid-afternoon when the adventurers return blinking to the surface. When informed of the desire to return to Threshold Quinthos becomes distraught. Wringing his hands he cried out, "Alas! I fear we have waited too long as it is! I should have sought out other help, instead of trusting in such feckless ruffians and miscreants, even if many of you are elves as well! No! I cannot wait another minute! Return to Threshold and I shall seek out those who will aid me with more alacrity!"

"Ruffians and miscreants? I think you are not only being unfair but more than a bit offensive as well. We have offered you our help without asking anything in return and now what are we? Ruffians and miscreants?"

Meagnor the Elf
"Calm down, Quinthos...we've just slain a menace to this village, we have one of ours hurt and nobody is paying us anything for this. We deserve to to secure our spoil and we need to resupply in order to able to help your village. If you think that's no reasonable and you think you will able to find better aid, feel free to go. We are offering our help in the best way we can. I feel ashamed by such harsh and offending words from an Elf. For my friends won't expect such attitude from a grown person. We understand your pain, but respect us."

Quinthos the elf
"Indeed!" the elf cries, "and oathbreaker to boot! For did you not promise, upon my expression of concern tor time, that this delve would take but a few hours! And now you express plans that would delay the journey by a day or more! No, I am afraid that I have wasted my time imploring for your aid!"

"Listen Quinthos, we will respect our promise to you. If you think we have spent too much time here, fine, we are listening to you arent we? I see no need to use harsh words, and I am really sad to see you attacking us like that."

Lanny the elf
Lanny speaks softly to the distraught elf.
"Quinthos, we explained before departing that this expedition to the caves was our primary mission. Knowing that, you could have remained in Threshold to seek out another party to aid you. We have not broken our word to you, but we deserve to be fully healed and up to maximum strength so that we have the best chance to defeat the ogres that we will be facing on your behalf. Let me discuss the issue privately with my companions..."

Re: IC II
Tratiln in a calm and comforting tone turns to Quinthos, Friend, please understand. A couple of us are injured, including our scouts who are of the utmost importance to any action we'll have to take against the ogres. How are we going to be able to help your village if we end up eve more injured or killed. I'm sure there are more dangers on the road to your village and we must be ready to face them an those brutal ogres. Us being injured doesnt do anybody any good and I fear that if those miscreant ogres do defeat us because we are not at full strength your poor village will suffer even more and I know that is nothing any of us want. We have avenged lanny's comrades and brought peace to his soul and we WILL do the same for you and your village In order to guarantee our word I am willing to give you my share of our treasure now.

Quinthos the elf
The elf does not appear to be mollified by Tratiln's words. "Do the clerics among you not have the power to heal? Must you return to town after every scratch and bump?"

Re: IC II
Tratiln suggests that the part reach a compromise. I believe Lanny mentioned there were some other villages between here and the elf village. Why don't w stop there sand rest for the night? Would you be satisfied with that Quinthos?

"Fellas, I propose we start moving to the elven village at once. Despite the outrage of being called a ruffian by someone who we only aimed to assist thus far, I will not have any doubts cast upon our word or our honesty so I think we should make good of our promise as soon as we can. I have a healing potion with me and we should be able to treat Saul and Jake on the way."
"That sounds fair to me Tratiln. Not sure if Quinthos will want to continue travelling with those he deems to be criminals."

Quinthos the elf
"Thank you for your words, Master Drudsa. I apologize for my reaction, but my nerves fray more and more every day. Who knows what has befallen the elves of my village in the two weeks since I left! Several comely elf-maidens dwell among us, and I fear they may have been taken by the ogres as playthings. My betrothed is among them, and I fear for them all!"
He pauses. "If the others in your companionship are amenable, I believe we can make the nearest village by nightfall, or shortly after. I passed it by on my journey here, but I do know it contained at least an inn and temple. It seems a logical place to stop for the night."

"Apologies accepted Quinthos. Your distress is understandable but for the future please remember that however dire one's situation is, it does not grant entitlement to offense or aggression of others. Let us now focus on what we can do, and if everyone is ready I suggest we depart at once.
When the tempers have cooled down Drudsa will approach Quinthos
"I know it must be difficult for you but I urge you not to dwell on the fate of your folk at this time, as it will only cause you despair. You can serve them much better with a clear mind."
