Re: Quest #18 "The Search For Dragons!"
Galanthas
"Ah!" The young elf gives a short loud shout and begins running towards Ren and Stumpy, willing to get as far as possible from the woman who asks for his help and giving it in turn to the two humans he met at the Treehouse in Beachtown. "Greff! What are you doing?! Go help Wes or at least cleave your sword into that demoness' head coming out from the cave!"
Once he gets where Ren and Stumpy are, he will try to drag the poor Stumpy along with Ren and as quickly as possible, holding his short bow in his left hand, just in case.
Is the flying head still there? What is it doing?

Wes
Wes sees the sand start to move in front of him and hears Galanthas shouting about a demoness behind him. He realizes that he's not just caught between the devil and the deep blue sea, but with some kind of weird sand-creature thrown into the mix too. He has to think fast.
Wes drags Steve over to the cliff wall and half-throws, half-drops him there. "Don't move! Your life depends on it! I'll be back for you". he hisses at him. Then the druid takes off running in an arc towards the trees, making sure to keep a distance between himself and any sand creatures that might come towards him.
Hard Wis Check (Wis 17) [4d6] = 14

Greff proceeds to peak around the outcropping bow in hand and sees Ren and Galanthas dragging poor Stumpy. "Oh NOW you want to move the body to safety! Move it you two!" The ranger will proceed to cover the trio with his bow against whatever is in that cave.
I hope Ren doesn't give Greff and guff later he did ask for help moving Stumpy!

In Search Of Dragons!
The Cave
Sunday, 7th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Hot, Sunny, Humid, Buggy
The high pitched whistling from the cave mouth grows even louder as the seconds pass.
Galanthas leaves the cave opening to help Ren, calling Greff back as well. They grab onto Stumpy's dead form and help their friend Ren move him out of the hag's reach. Greff keeps his bow ready in case anything jumps out of the cave at them. The hollow void where the hags head was is now an empty alcove in the cliff face. There is no telling what happened to her at this point.
Wes moves to the cliff wall and deposits Steve there, telling him to keep silent or die. He then returns to his task at getting into the jungle unscathed. As he makes a wide arc back towards the foliage, he sees 2 small claw-like appendages suddenly pop out of the sand in the area he saw moving around a few seconds ago. There is clearly something else about to join in on the fun very soon.

"I wanted to help Wes move Steve until that woman came crawling to me in the mud asking me for help! I'm sure she's the witch! He says while trying to drag Stumpy away from the cliff wall and hence the cave.

Wes
The druid keeps heading toward the treeline as fast as he can. He knows that his magic will be more effective among the trees than out in the middle of the sand.

The Cave

Mid Morning, Hot, Sunny, Humid, Buggy
Ren, Galanthas, and Greff try to carry the dead body of Stumpy away from the cave. Ren seems very upset over his friends condition and moving the man through the soft, uneven sand is proving to be even more difficult than expected. Their movement is slow going at first, especially with Ren slipping into some kind of mourning phase as you try to advance.
The whistling noise finally stops, but not without consequence. The claws emerging from the beach are attached to a nasty looking monster. The beast finally bursts from the sand, showing you its entire hideous form. It looks like some kind of mutated conglomeration of an ankheg and a sand worm. You can see many short legs attached to its worm-like body. It has a small pair of nasty claws near its head and a round mouth filled with nasty sharp teeth. What might be even worse, a soaking wet, nearly naked, attractive young female emerges from the mouth of the cave next. She surveys the area before heading straight towards Steve and the sand monster. She picks up the nearly dead form of Steve with one hand and takes a huge bite out of his neck. The mans last life blood spurts out all over her face and she seems to enjoy that quite a lot. She ignores Wes, who has just arrived at the trees by this point, and looks in the direction of the others. She continues chewing while she speaks.
"What did I tell you idiots? I tried to be reasonable with you, but now you will all have to die."
She points at the sand worm thing and then back to the main group. The large worm starts crawling towards you with its claws clacking together eerily. She takes another bite out of Steve as if she were eating popcorn in the park.

Letting his bow and Stumpy's body fall to the ground, the elf tries to cast Sleep on an area that catches both the worm and the witch (if possible).

From the relative safe zone of the tree line, Wes waits to see the results of Galanthas' magic. As he waits, he takes a quick look at the jungle around him and a use for his own magic starts to form in his head.

The Cave

Mid Morning, Hot, Sunny, Humid, Buggy
Ren seems terrified and unsure what to do next. He wants to save his dead friend from being eaten, but he doesn’t really want to be eaten himself. He panics as the enemy draws closer.
Galanthas drops everything and reaches down for a convenientlay located pinch of sand. Tossing it in the direction of the worm and the hag, he recites a quick magical phrase as the sand grains drop upon them. The gorgeous, bloody mouthed hag seems completely unaffected by the magic, but the same can’t be said for her huge insectoid pet. For the second time in a row, facing a much larger and far more powerful adversary, Galanthas is able to drop the huge beast with his slumbering magic, right in its tracks upon the sand. It lays there unmoving, snoring softly for a while.
The good looking female drops the bloody body of the now deceased Steve back to the rocks and takes a few steps in the direction of the group. She laughs at the comment of Greff, staring into his eyes as she starts to approach the trio. “If you only knew how many men have offered to split me with their swords, little man. Won't you come into my room, I wanna show you all my wares.” She waves for you to approach her as she slowly advances.

The elf ducks as quickly as he can in order to get his bow back and get an arrow to fire at the witch.

Actually, it would only take half the round to retrieve the bow. So, you could still take one shot this round, if you’d like.
As Jernau suggests, if you ever think that a roll might be needed, go ahead and add one to your post.

Galanthas
As Galanthas takes back his bow he shouts to Ren "Ren, wake up! We have to kill that fiend now!" and shoots an arrow at the witch
To hit with short bow [1d20] = 1; damage with short bow [1d6] = 2

Wes
Wes knows that most of his magic will be ineffective on the woman as she stands out in the open, so the battle is likely to be resolved by swords and arrows. Lacking both, Wes conjures up one of the few spells he has that should have an effect on the fight. He concentates for a moment, stretches out an arm and tries to outline the woman's form in the ethereal light often called faerie fire.

Its been 5 days since your last post LT. I am moving this along.
In Search Of Dragons!
The Cave
Sunday, 7th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Hot, Sunny, Humid, Buggy
Wes casts a long range spell from the safety of the tree line. Soon the beautiful young hag starts to glow when a violet halo suddenly appears around her nearly naked body. She remarks about it sarcastically as she looks at her arms and hands. "Oh pretty!........ I freekin HATE pretty!!!"
Greff fires off 2 arrows at the oncoming monster that both sail high over the top of her head.
Ren snaps out of his funk after the scolding from Galanthas. He pulls out his sword and steps forward to stop the monster from approaching his dead friend. He closes his eyes and attacks the woman, nearly tripping over his own feet and falling to the sand in the process. Galanthas retrieves his bow and fires one arrow at the glowing hag. His errant arrow sticks into the back shoulder of Ren's armor. 1 dam
The hag grabs onto Ren's arms while his gaze is averted. Using both of her hands to lift the human up off the sand, she starts shaking him like a rag doll. "Just look at me you fool! It will go so much quicker for you if you just look into my eyes!" Ren squeezes his eyes closed as tight as he can while being jostled and shaken badly.
"Help me! Help me! Get this freak off of me!" is all he keeps saying to Greff and Galanthas.
