Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
so, with the discovery of the vials in the cabinet, how does open go about identifying 'magic items' in DCC?
I was also wondering about things like working out what the 'blue fire' is, whether it's a spell or created by something in the room?

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
Good question!
It looks to me like this is not directly addressed in the rules/ left to the judge.
On figuring out stuff with the fire, let's call that a DC 10 int check to investigate it, again with that d3 bonus.
For magic items generally, there is a "sorcerer's guild" in Lankhmar, alchemists, prisoners, etc, that you could search out to get info. There are also various patrons out there... a Sheelba type wizard could tell you as a favor if you could get their interest (patronage works for both wizards and non wizards here).
Actual extended downtime investigation could also be possible... I guess an object would have some properties that could be discovered with testing and an appropriate DC, etc.
If you wanted to taste the stuff in the vials, there might be some info that could be gained that way, though if it was poison, addictive, etc, that might be a problem.
The more you "describe" what you are doing, if that would produce a specific result, I'll tell you without a roll. If you want to stick a hand in the blue flame, for example, you'll find out what happens

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
cool, I'll make a roll for examining the fire.
on a different note, would it be possible to have a treasure thread? then when we find something we can post there, makes it more difficult to forget something.

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
Sure! Do you want to manage it, or should I put things down?
So far, there has been the jailer's stuff and the wizard's stuff, I think (there was a key, some armor/ weapons, but not much else I can remember)

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
I don't mind either way.
perhaps in the future the player who's character find it posts, unless you'd rather keep track.
we can also post when we've divided things up.

Welcome Enoch!!
Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
just wanted to elucidate why I asked about getting through the door quickly...so I can use Ward Portal on it to help us escape, with the intention to use spellburn and luck to get a good result.
from your reply, I'm thinking it's going to make sense to try and take out the awake guards and get through the door before the others awaken properly.

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
Yeah, I think I get the idea... the awake guards are sort of right next to the door, though, so it's going to be hard to slide through unless you are all very fast. One slowpoke, initiative-wise, and you're in a fight with those guards.
Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
Do you want Dunulk to open the door, or fight the guards?
Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
yeah, i thought trying to get through quickly and unscathed is unlikely, so our best bet is to kill the awake guards and get through the door before the others can wake up properly and attack.
of course this assumes we get half decent init and hit rolls, unlike what I've just rolled
so, the answer is to attack, which is what I've already posted Shmehk as doing.
I hope we haven't headed into disaster

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
Well... only one way to find out

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
Sorry guys! I was so focused on the character creation thread that I didn't get to reading this thread until now. Looking forward to the game!

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
No prob
The party has finished their adventure.
Instead of meeting "in a tavern" or something, the way characters meet here is in action, so I want to get the action going, and introduce you.

Putting up the new post for the heist.
Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
Ouch! Sorry, Enoch!
Fortunately, it shouldn't last long, if they help you

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
It happens. 1st isn't as deadly as 0, but one of DCC's charms is its lethality. A point of Stamina loss will hurt, but the scar will be worth it.

Re: Silver Eel Tavern (OOC Discussion)
Should they staunch your wounds, it will just cost 1 luck to become conscious "at the end of the battle".
With very short battles like this of 1-2 rounds, I'll let you apply those recovery/staunching wounds rules if you apply them right at the end of the battle, and you got into that situation in the last round (or maybe last 2 rounds). There's supposed to be a little trade off in effectiveness to get those healing benefits... somebody's out of the combat for a round to deal with it, or whatever, but you haven't been lying on the ground bleeding for several rounds, so I'm ok with you using a luck point to recover, should they try to save you.
