Cilian fumbles for the latch on the harder leather case on his belt and extracts several large darts. He readies one in his right hand, keeping the other two in the left.

"Crap," Viktor mutters as he gets low and looks for some nearby brush or foliage to hide in. He immediately begins looking around for any danger or threats that might be approaching the party from the rear or flank, wishing he had a bow and knew how to use it!

Scythius carefully lowers his long spear to the ground as he crouches in place. "Sounds like our goblin friends find themselves in a bit of a bind," he smirks while unstrapping his short bow and loosening an arrow from his quiver.

With arrow nocked, he scans the top of the cliff seeking a target, paying particular attention to anything that might fit the source of the load roar.

What in the 9 hells is going on up there

Johansen whispers as he scuttles behind a tree.

Serg mutters something under hsi breath as he loada abullet into his sling and Cil fumbles nervously with his pouch trying to pull forth some darts. Vik ducks behind a large palmetto and quickly turens o watch the parties rear and scy crouchs low and nocks an arrow scanning the cliff edge for movement.

the noises continue as you cna hear several voices echo down in goblin with one louder and more commanding than the others. It's followed by another deep roar reverberating off the cliff wall.

No one scanning the cliff face can make out any movement. It appears whatever are making the noises are not next to the cliff edge and cannot be seen from below.

As Osric surveys the cliff he sees it runs a great distance perhaps 1/2 a mile before the slope of the hill reaches your level. the face of the cliff is very jagged and looks like there would be plenty of handholds, however Oric knows rock climbing was not one of the courses at divinity school.

I suggest we start moving Sergius whispers to the others Half a mile it may be but I think the beast will be busy with its meal, that should give us enough time. With luck we might even catch it off guard.

Unless y'ins would like me to go up and take a peek? Tbd says appraising the cliff face.
My climb walls is 90% wp, how long would it take to climb up and back down?
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Not sure if it's worth the risk Tub. Whatever's up there might attack you and we won't be able to do much from here.

The cliff face is very rocky with a number of handholds and ledges. You would recieve and extra 5% to your roll. Movement is standard per the DMG very rough surface with ledges and projections and it is a dry sunny day. Movement 24' per round so approximate 2 rounds(minutes) to climb the 40' surface. each round of climbing requires a climb walls roll.

Right, just make sure you don't fall on top of us. Sergius will keep his sling ready to shoot in case some threat appears on the top of the cliff.

Guys, let's give gecko-man some cover.

Tbd climbs up, just to take a peek at what's happening. Then climbs back down to let everyone know.

Tub offers to climb up a quickly take a peek up top of the cliff. With a warning of caution from Serg, Tub assures him he will be fine.

Scy continues to scan the horizen with arrow noched while Cil fumbles with his darts trying to look in every direction at once.

Osric nods in approval at his friends uncharacteristic bravery.

Just as Tub approaches the cliff face he hears Vik's voice.

Wait Tub I'll go with you, no way I let you go alone.

Slinging his shield over his back and sheathing his sword Vik cracks his knuckles and hustles to the cliff face.

Viks round 1 climbing roll[1d100] = 50

I need a climb walls roll from Tub, add extra 5% (subtract 5 from your d100 roll)

[1d100] = 88 - 5 = 83

[1d100] = 26 - 5 = 21

[1d100-5] = 38-5 = 33

Tub and vik grab hold of the rocky outcroppings and begin making their way up the cliff face. You are amazed at the speed your 2 friends show shimmying up the verticle cliff. In less than 2 minutes they reach the top 40 feet above you.

Vik is the first to reach the ledge. He pulls himself over and laying flat on his stomach reaches over to elp his childhood friend over the lip of the cliff when suddenly their is a blood curdling scream. Something flies 10 feet right over tubs head screaming as it goes over the edge.

Those below watch in horror as the body kicks and flails through the air until the sudden stop of hitting the ground. just feet in front of you the uncomfortable splat and crunch of bones makes you feel quesy. A metal skull cap pops off and spins until it hits a rock and falls flat. The body of the goblin lays there broken and twisted.

Vik finishes helping tub over the cliff edge and the two quickly disapear out of view.
