The adventure begins a new.

The group is on the ourskirts of the Lonely Wood preparing to bed down for the night when you were attacked by 3 goblins. The Goblins have just been dispatched.

Everyone is fine and uninjured. What is everyones next actions.

Cilian sits on a rock, staring at... well, nothing. Quietly, he asks, "You think those goblins were... part of a larger group? Or just bad luck we ran into them?"

Since we're a day away anyway, couldn't hurt to follow those tracks and see if they lead to profit... er danger, Tubeedee adds.

[Alethan]

"Wha?? Oh, ummm..." Cil stammers in reply, "That is to say... I didn't... er... that isn't what I... what I meant, ummm, Tub."

A bead of perspiration slips down Cil's temple and he wipes at it with the sleeve of his robe.

"I was just wondering if we had more to worry about. Not if we, ummm... might be able to FIND more of them."

Osric comes from behind Cilian and puts his arm around him while looking at Tubeedee. Hah! Tub has the right of it Cil. nodding We should follow the trail. A good goblin is a dead goblin and we certainly can't let them be so's they can cause problems for the simple folk can we? Raising his arms to the sky. Glory Cilian! Thunderous Glory!

The normally reserved warrior listens to the banter of his companions. He casts a confident look in the direction of Cil. "Needn't worry about Goblins." he states matter-of-factly. "Tis what's in there," he says, motioning to the Lonely Woods with the tip of his extended spear, "that you should be concerned about."

He considers Osric's support of Tubeedee's suggestion. "I ain't apposed to trackin' 'n killin' more of 'em, mind you, but they hardly seem worth the effort." he continues. "I'ma the mind we bed here and start again fresh in the 'morn."

Scythius begins surveying their immediate area looking for the area offering the best coverage for an overnight stay.

You travel 1/2 the day and you stop for lunch. As you all sit eating rations Johnasen looks around the area and informs you he has found some goblin tracks.

So I think that makes me a half day ahead of our current starting point.

You youngin's would be crazy to go trampsin about after'n goblins in the middle of the night. Nighttime is thier'n time.

Sides I wasn't paid to go after goblins, just lead you to where I saw that displacer beast.

Surveying the area the safest location to hole up woul be just inside the woodline amoung some of the tall spruce trees.

Scythius concludes his examination of the immediate area. "I'mma stake out an area right over here," he indicates a spot just inside the woodline. "I suggest you all join me."

Scythius treks to the targeted location and begins fixing up the selected area.

"Well..." Cilian acts like he is pondering the issue for a good two seconds, "wait up, Scy!"

Cil jumps up and follows his wild friend to the indicated clearing.

Nobody's hero, Tubeedee follows along.

Sergius also follows to the area picked by Scythius Not a bad place for camping.

I will assume everyone beds down for the night and you keep your pre-determined watch.

The night passes uneventful, you wake in the morning to find Johansen roasting a couple of prarie dogs over the camp fire.

It's a good 7 hour travel to the area you was wantin to get to. You ready to head out after we eat?

You can dialog and decide what course of action you want to take, displacer bast, goblins, whatever.

Scythius says nothing, but can be seen nodding affirmation of his readiness.

He enjoys a good, quick meal before spending some time caring for and stowing his possessions. A displacer beast, he wonders to himself as he oils his bow and verifies the tautness of his bowstring. Never have encounter one of them.... his daydream continues.

OOC: Ummm... does the Armour spell work in conjunction with Dexterity armour adjustments? Here is the description of the Armour spell...

Armour - Affects = one creature, Range = touch, Components (V, S, M), Casting time = 1 round; Creates field of force that serves as if it were leather armour (AC 8); does nothing if they are already wearing armour; adds no weight or encumbrance nor does it prevent spell casting; lasts until dispelled or until the wearer sustains cumulative damage equal to 8 plus the spell caster's level. Material component is a piece of leather blessed by a cleric.

I couldn't really tell from the description, so I thought I'd go with the DM's ruling before I decided which spell to memorize for the day...

Yes it works like you are actualy wearing leather armor so AC 8 - dex bonus. Also it lasts until you take damage 9 damage.

... He decides to memorize his Armour spell. Then he pulls out an old piece of leather from his belt pouch and kneels on the ground, the bit of leather on the ground in front of him.

Quietly, he begins speaking in a melodious and steady voice, "Volutpat eros eu vulputate in erat, nisl augue illum consequat."

He reaches down and picks up the leather with both hands, holding it high over his head, then repeats the phrase,"Volutpat eros eu vulputate in erat, nisl augue illum consequat." He pulls his hands apart, impossibly stretching the leather the span of his arms.

He repeats the phrase, "Volutpat eros eu vulputate in erat, nisl augue illum consequat." Then he pulls the leather down over his head. A split in the almost translucent leather allows his head to push through, the leather resting on his shoulders.

Once more, Cilian repeats the phrase in a steady and even voice, "Volutpat eros eu vulputate in erat, nisl augue illum consequat." he presses his arms down to his side and the leather seems to disappear, leaving behind a faint shimmer of light.

He sits in silence for a moment, then slowly gets to his feet and shoulders his pack.

"I'm ready..."

The party spends the day traveling deep into the Lonely Wood.

While everyone has spent some time in the wood, and some such as Scythius more than others, none besides old Johansen has ever traveled this far off the game trails.

The further you travel the thicker the forest grows and you are slowed making your way through the undergrowth. As the sun nears high noon Scythius manages to shoot a hare and you all stop for lunch of rabbit and way bread.

As you continue on johansen unrges everyone to not speak and move as quietly as possible. While scy, tub, and viktor manage to do so with fair success Osric manages to scare away every small animal within amile radius as he noisely crashes through the thicket of undergrowth.

Johansen stops the party and places his hands between the horizen and the sun.

About 2 hours of sunlight left. the spot where we ran into the beast is only a coupleof hundred yards ahead. he whispers

Ahead we will come to a cliff side, we was workin our way around te cliff to move up the hill to get the plants the man wanted when it attacked.

As quietly as possible the party moves foward until a small clearing opens up and before you is a smallish cliff face about 40 foot high.



As you stop to ponder your next move you hear a load roar following by gruff gutteral shouts in a language you recognize as goblin coming from above you and out of site on top of the cliff.

Sergius refrains from uttering the curse he had in mind and prepares his sling, looking up and around.
