I'm a 2E player... would like to try a 2E PbP ... Either a Bard (charlatan preferred) or Thief (any type desired, cause thieves rule!).

I have not played this style in years... I have not used online rollers before... so there will be a learning curve.

I only follow one forum these days - the 501st... So I think I now have time to put to a PbP!

I have set notifications "on" to this post - so I will see the replies.

Game on!

Welcome g-s glad you made it over!

:)
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Hah, my fellow Mod, Alethan will be over in moment to give you the run down. But just tool around and see if there are any games you like.

Indeed, welcome to the Unseen Servant forums!

If you haven't already, be sure to check out the thread for new players here: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=858

Also... limiting yourself to playing a bard/thief in a 2e game might create a bit of delay before you are actually in a game. There are a handful (maybe 5?) of games running 2e rules (or house rules that significantly pull from 2e). Not sure if any of them are currently looking for players. If they are, they might be looking for something other than a thief or bard.

You might want to consider expanding your choices to other rules or other versions, if not classes. By all means, feel free to play what you like; just understand the limitation you are setting for your availability.

But regardless of what you play, you are welcome here!

Just putting up my preferences. I've only ever played 2E - so it's more a go with what I know thing... and I own everything for it too.

I've played almost all the classes, but the Bards and Thieves are the most fun - though slow to climb levels at higher levels.

Oh, I totally understand the desire to play in a comfort zone! Play whatever makes you happy. Like I said, you're certainly welcome here no matter what rule set and class you play!

Cheers and luck with your gaming!

I always felt being a thief was more a mndset than class. yeah you might lack the specific skills but i doesn't mean you can't sneak, rob, adn steal.

I once played a fighter who was terrific scoundrel and thef!

Welcome, grey_starr!

Prior to joining this forum I had played 1E almost exclusively. I joined a 2E game to try it out and found I really enjoyed it... as much, if not more, than 1E. You said you had all the books, which is great, but I figured I share this website with you just in case you're in a pinch and don't happen to have the physical books in front of you:

Purple Worm
http://www.purpleworm.org/rules/

I never owned anything from 2E so I use the above website regularly.

I'm currently running a game which is heavily 2E-influenced, but also mixes in some 1E and 5E (or DND Next) with some house rules as well. I already have a large group of players already (more than I initially intended), but feel free to check it out. I'd be glad to add you to a waiting list if you're interested.

Thanks... and welcome aboard,
- Dave

Welcome to the forums, grey_starr. :)

I'm a 1E/2E player myself, but am still a play-by-post rookie. I found my experience with 1E/2E was sufficient to understand this method of gaming.

Have fun, there are a lot of great gamers here. 8-)

Hey hey Dave... Yeah, add me to the list. It reads well.

Do people post up Character Sheets to look at?

I haven't been actively recruiting, so you're actually next in line when an opening becomes available (see: 07. Waiting List).
grey_starr wrote:Do people post up Character Sheets to look at?
They do, yes. That is common in all most games. In my game, the list of current characters can be found here: Character Sheets

---

I created a 'Table of Contents' which is a somewhat organized set of links to the various sections of the game and or rules. I still use it constantly and find it helpful to quickly find what I'm looking for.

I'll be sure to ping you if/when there's an opening to see if you're still interested. Do note, however, I attempt to keep the game moving at a fairly rapid rate and players are expected to post daily (M-F). Like most games I'm familiar with, my game does take a bit of a break on the weekends, but not everyone is willing/able to commit to the daily posting frequency and it's better to address that expectation up front.
