Expedition: Fingers/Ghostly Trial - Part II - 23 July 2021
Re: Expedition: Fingers/Ghostly Trial - Part II - 23 July 20
Eh, the demonspawn are around Gaul. If you go with the wagons to the White Tower, you can all stay at the tavern there and you'll be prepped to launch and demon-free.
For the maps: here's how I'm handling them. These aren't "x marks the spot" treasure maps. They are the survey maps from the archives buried with the chief Steward. By studying them a week, you can find something of interest in each one, but I'm asking you to decide who gets them and who is studying each. (If you want to share all knowledge after, that's up to you IC).
It IS immediately clear, however, that all the maps are of they Yoldessi Plains, so will be located in the ring of hexes around the hex which contains the gargoyle city (the King's keep). So, you have a rough idea of where you'll be heading.

Does anyone have things to do during our fast-forward? If not, giving three maps to three people would speed research. Let's let the dice decide:
Who doesn't get a map? (B,F,H,M): [1d4] = 2
Okay. Bandy, Hengist, and Markd get maps to study unless they don't want one.
A trip to the Yodessi plains could be fun. We'd definitely want the staff of gargoyle-smashin' to come with us, though. And Fingers would have to figure out a way to do ranged damage to them (or be useless).

Bandy will happily take a map and study it for a week.

Marullus, does each map have only one thing of interest, or multiple? IOW, is it worth using all three weeks to study the maps so we learn three things from each map?
Re: Expedition: Fingers/Ghostly Trial - Part II - 23 July 20
Markd certainly wants one, plus he is rather competent (proficient) in map reading and surveying.

I'm only going to make you study it for a week. I will also probably give Markd some better detail, given his expertise as a cartographer.
Re: Expedition: Fingers/Ghostly Trial - Part II - 23 July 20
In that case, would people be willing to let Markd study all three maps? We'd keep the distribution as per the die roll, but Markd would do the study so we'd get extra detail.

...you guys are making me work too hard.
Re: Expedition: Fingers/Ghostly Trial - Part II - 23 July 20
You're right. Why don't you just shortcut the process and assume that we went to the locations on the maps, found the treasure, and brought it back?
Re: Expedition: Fingers/Ghostly Trial - Part II - 23 July 20
Bandy is still willing to give it a go. How hard can it be, reading a treasure map? (INT6)

I do hope intelligence isn't a factor in deciphering the maps.

Hengist will happily study a map. Let's see what interesting stuff there is to be found.

(just checking in--- I assume we are all good with all loot, etc if so...)
Markd bids farewell to his fellow journeymen and thanks them for a grand time. He mentions taking a few weeks off to read his book, let the pain from his recent wounds subside, and truth be told, spend some of this gold on Baudh knows what.
He will retire to his inn room and begin studying and reading.

A bit homesick for his kind, Bandy says his temporary farewells and makes his way to the Frogmorton Ford. He will spend all of his time there, eating good meals from Menengilda, working on deciphering the map during the day, and playing with the children in the evenings, teaching them about the ways of the world and enticing them with tales of his adventures.
He does let the others know where he will be and asks they send word to him when they are ready to meet back up.
OOC: I guess... Do you want me to make a 2d6 CHA check? And what is the daily cost for good meals if I'd rather not write out 21 stories for three weeks of good food?

She already contracted food for workers in Frogmorton, so use this:
Go post on her page.Mrs. Frogmorton only cooks Good meals, normally at a surcharge. She'll offer a deal and sell at the same rate as the tavern - 5sp/day.

ooc: Will do. The CHA check would be for staying in a room there for free for the three weeks.
