Where do you start, at the entrance or the closest pit to your position?

OOC: Ok. Searching them all will take some time so I'm going to resolve the actions of some of the other players before I tell you what you find.

Which pit did you want to search first?

After 10 minutes of chipping at the plaster, Tix and McCloud have uncovered the edges of a wooden door as well as the pull ring.

"Well done Tics, a door into the unknown...", McCloud will tuck his dagger into his boots. "Perhaps my friend you'll do the honours with any locks and traps?"

McCloud will make room for the halflings expertise and go check on the other guys, "Quinn feeling better yet? Perhaps we can also throw a cloak or curtain over that green devil face, I detest it's baleful influence and it looks as though it is mocking our actions in the tunnel".

If the party is going to spend a few turns searching the pit walls by turn before we go through any doors or the archway, then McCloud will fetch a grubby blanket from the camp and spike it over the green face, resisting all temptation to behave like a lion tamer and put his head in the mouth!!

When you approach the face you feel no urge to reach into the mouth like the others felt. You start to unfold the blanket to cover the face and that is when you notice that the inky blackness is not there anymore. The mouth appears to be an opening in the wall, like a narrow tunnel. Just inside you see the skeletal hand of a corpse clutching a gold necklace with a ruby pendant. Looking closer it appears the poor fellow was trying to crawl out of the tunnel with a large sack of coins on his back and got stuck.

Roll 1d20 please.

Another 10 minutes passes as Tix checks the door. He's confident that there are no traps here, except for the pit directly in front of it.

By the time McCloud returns with the blanket and Tix has completed his search. Skiiratch has reached the last pit and found nothing but poisoned spikes and the old bones of past victims.

McCloud sees the party busy with various tasks, trying to keep focused himself he fetches the blanket to cover the devilish face "I don't like its' baleful presence watching over us " he muses. it was whilst spike up the covering that the dark hollow revealed its contents...

"hmmm...thats' interesting", he thinks, "I should tell the others". McCloud tries to turn and speak but the words don't form and the glint of gold catches his eye. "you'll be rich beyond compare" whispers the devil on his right shoulder. "No, its' a vain trick, vanity all is vanity", shouts the guardian angel on his left. "Its' magic and will buy back your ancestral home", "Thou shall not fall into temptation..!"....the arguments echo loudly in his already confused mind, McCloud stands there mouth agape (dribbling foolishly) and fingers waving before him....

[1d20] = 6 (help, help, I'm being sucked into a black hole roll!!)

not sure what I'm rolling vs...hope my kilt +3 helps?

Tix will have a listen at the door. Dont see any traps here, but maybe we should find a way of covering the pit securely so we can easily get in?

The Dwarf keeps a wary eye in case the Monk needs a quick exit from the pit.

Bindle has finished searching the 3rd pit and found nothing but old bones and scraps of clothing from past victims.

While the devil and angel on his shoulder begin wrestling, punching and kicking one another, McCloud notices something odd. The dead body and sack of gold that appeared in the mouth look transparent for a moment. He shakes his head and looks again and the illusion has faded leaving the blackness of the gaping mouth.

Quinn is feeling better at this point and is steady on his feat once again.

Tix leans in and listens, but he hears nothing on the other side. The halfling recalls the wooden storage crates back at camp had wide sturdy lids. They are smaller than 10x10' so they would have to be supported by something long enough to span the pit.

Tixs speaks up. Well gentlemen, I do believe that the gods have favored us with a number of possible avenues for further exploration of the tomb. Should we agree upon a suitable path?

McCloud shakes himself like some wet dog going dry..."this place gets more eerie!". Finally hanging the covering over the mask, McCloud will involuntarily slap his head to clear his thoughts.

"my minds as misty as this mist...". McCloud will not enter into the misty doorway but check its surroundings, stonework for any tricks and traps. Being aware that some creature may suddenly lunge at him from the fog, he'll have one hand on his cutlass ready.

Quinn gets up and helps the others cover the pit trap in front of the newly discovered door.

"That's the pit what opened with the lever, isn't it? What if we just pulled the lever back into place? Maybe it would close the trap back up..."Skiiratch wonders aloud.

"I think the pit we opened with the lever is the one below the box that killed Erodhan. The pit in front of the door is the one we opened with......well Erodhan."

"Ah, that's right," Skiiratch says, shaking his head, "Too many bloody pits to keep them all straight!"

"I don't like the look of the devil mouth, nor do I like the thought of stepping through mist when I don't even know if there is a floor on the other side."

Did anyone do anything beside stick a pole or weapon through the mist? Like try to check for a floor on the other side? Could just be another bloody pit!
