Yarthmont 12, AC 1000
Hex 25.22
The adventurers retreat back from the cleared area and make their camp. Several times during the night the adventurers are woken by howls, far off in the distance, but they are unmolested during the night.
Yarthmont 13, AC 1000
Hex 25.22
The adventurers rise in the morning and begin to prepare for the day. Sometimes during the night clouds rolled in from the south, bringing gentle warm spring breezes and a tough of humidity, although it does not look like it will rain.

Nerith "I couldn't agree more. We should move a bit faster so we can track better before the weather rolls in."

Yarthmont 13, AC 1000
Hex 25.22
Subhex 0304
9:00 am
The adventurers break camp and return to the edge of the blighted area. It looks like their desired path takes them through the northern part of the hex, and for awhile so does the giant pair of footprints they are tracking, but after about a half mile the tracks diverge, heading north into subhex 0303. Shortly thereafter, the party crests a hill and espies an enormous humanoid figure, at least ten or twelve feet tall, crouched in the valley some two hundred yards below them. The valley, like the rest of the landscape they have been traveling through, is dull and dun-colored, with little to no vegetation to speak of.
The giant is dressed in primitive fashion, clad in dirty, uncured furs, and is tending a small fire that it has managed to start. Next to the fire is a bound figure -- it's too far away to tell if it is Man, humanoid or animal -- that struggles weakly against its bonds. On the far side of the campfire is a rough structure, built, it seems of a couple of large slabs of rocks leaned together in a haphazard manner. An enormous club leans up against the hut, perhaps 30 yards away from the giant.
It does not seem to notice the adventurers.

Nerith "Yes I can see that too. But if we are going to do this we need to outwit the giant one hit from that things club would surely flatten one of us or all of us."

"I agree with the good Preacher, if we are going to do this stones and arrows it must be. My bow is ready." Drust makes ready his bow and checks his arrows. "I would like first shot if possible."
Can I use a back attack with my bow?

Re: IC I
Nerith weighs the suggestions of the others "I think attacking on more than one front is a wiser plan. Though trying to steal a giants club would be more like trying to steal half a tree from a lumber yard. What we need to do is draw the giant away from where his club is, or lure him away at least from his camp. Someone can sneak down and free the captive. It would almost be best if we had some sort of trap to lure the thing into."

Re: IC I
As the adventurers discuss their plan the giant figure below them finally gets its fire going and stands up to stretch, scratches itself crudely and idly wanders about, kicking rocks with his enormous boots.

Nerith "Sounds good enough to me. Now as for ranged weapons I've got my spear and two hand axes. How about the archers attack from here those of us that need to close in range can try and slip around the giant on his other sides and attack from 3 different sides."

Preacher Cardicus
I've got a sling so I'll be with the archers, says the preacher. I suggest our group space an attack line, so that in case the creature starts hurling rocks, he won't strike two of us with one stone. Good luck, everyone, he adds.
