Garth replies. "Good idea, we have no need for any additional altercations."
Yeah, no need to expend energy fighting something without treasure and that isn't part of any objective if we can avoid it.

"Go back to sleep, Shanny... It was just a cat."

Gwilt uses the lit torch to light a small fire bundle, keeping a live ember going after he puts out the torch. Then he'll quietly prep a small fire, ready to light with the ember at a moments notice, should anyone need the light source.

If it isn't necessary during the night, then they can use it in the morning to prepare breakfast or just scatter it and put the ember out.

Shannigans dreams of a cat pelt strewn across his floor. His favorite chair, book and pipe nearby.

Finishing rolls:
Kaltar wakes on 1-3: [1d10] = 1 | Alordan wakes on 1-3: [1d10] = 6

---

Ewell and Strom wake the rest of the group at the end of the uneventful final sleep shift. Alordan probably had the roughest night with two separate 3-hour shifts (6-hours total) while everyone else managed at least 7.5 hours of rest overnight. (+1 hit point)

Ewell feels at least a wee bit better. The throbbing pain from yesterday's attacks have subsided enough for him to function normally. He asks, "breakfast? Shall we go to the stream for fish, or just gnaw on some rations and head on? I am thinking the sooner we get a move on, the better.

He rechecks his gear to make sure everything is packed correctly for a hike.

Alordan is slow to wake up, particularly with the soothing waterfall sounds in the distance, making it doubly hard. "What's our options here? We have goblins on the cliff wall to our north, maybe some more goblins and wargs in the waterfall cave, and Mother knows what to our south through these woods. That band of orcs we took care of may be the ones I was looking for, but with the leader they had, does that mean there is more to our south? More organized? Anyone recognize that leader type they had with them?"

As the party begins chore type activity, one could mistake Shannigan's actions as lazy and mistrusting, but he sits, double checking his spellbook, trying to be as secretive as possible with it, and confirms that he will prepare the same spells today. When finally rising, he sniffs about, then realizes at least part of the odor bothering him is in his close vacinity."Gotta wash up! I can still smell the snot from those things."

Garth rises with the rest of the group, glad for a full nights rest.

"Mornin' all, I just need a bit of time to refresh my repertoire."

Gwilt wakes and quickly stows his gear after eating some trail rations.

"If we want to make for the town, lets get started right away. According to Alordan, it might be more than a day of travel." He looks over at Strom. "You going to be good for travel?"

Ewell nods agreement..." Good Point. I would rather feast in town tonight or in the morrow. Now, if I heard correctly in all the chaos, do we not have to cross the battlefield and the stream to get to this town? We need to be quiet and vigilant.

Kaltar gets up does his morning ablutions and performs a morning prayer with Strom.

The waking up thing - no impact on spell memorisation is there? Can you let me know everyone's updated hp so we can gauge healing requirements please Mr DM?
"Morning all, Shanny that smell is pretty overpowering, I think it didn't help with getting restful sleep last night!"
Kaltar pauses, worried he may have caused offence

"that was a joke by the way" he goes red-face with embarrassment.
"Who is in need of some of healing?"

Correct... most likely. Alordan arrived from the north, between the cliff and the stream, and actually crossed the stream to enter the battlefield instead of crossing behind the waterfall.

Alordan was able to accomplish this easy enough, but keep in mind, he's not wearing metal armor. Crossing behind the waterfall, or staying to the right of the stream entirely, will be your most likely courses of action. Staying to the right of the stream will present the challenge of crossing the stream (from east-to-west) at a future time, however, as the town Alordan is aware of is to the west of the stream.[/ooc]

Thinking back on his first encounter with the goblins at the top of the cliff, Gwilt wonders if there may be some goblin activity going on above their heads.

(Gwilt explains to the others that he retraced the steps of the two goblins that came down from the cliff above the previous day and that the trail headed west but seemed to arc as if it might at some point come out by the cliffs again.)

He'll step back from the cliff face a bit and look up, now that he has the morning light, to see if he can note any physical structures along the edges of the cliff at any point within viewing distance. He'll also look to see how climbable the cliffs are - if not by him, then by Shanny, with his... useful skill set.

Maybe it would be possible to climb back up the cliffs here, or somewhere near here, then go back to the waterfall where the goblin rope was attached, and see about crossing upstream from there or making an attack on the goblins with the party having the high ground.

Gwilt studies the ridge of the cliff and does not notice anything abnormal or unnatural. The rock face is fairly vertical, and will likely pose a problem for an armored and fully equiped individual to ascend without a rope or "specialized skill set."

Gwilt shrugs, not really surprised that the dim-witted goblins aren't clever enough to fortify or protect their cave from above; instead, relying on a chained up worg. The worg, he remembers, and peeks over to the harness at the base of the waterfall. It appears, at least for the time being, a new worg has not been chained to replace those previously dealt with.

I say we doctor up whomever the cleric needs to doctor and quickly hug the cliff and cross the waterfall, and head out.

That sounds like a plan to me.

Gwilt quickly dismisses the notion of climbing the cliffs, as it would take too long, especially with some of the encumbered party members present.

"OK, let's take the fight to them, then."

Short on flight arrows, Gwilt readies a sheaf arrow and moves to lead the party along the cliff wall to the falls. Maybe the goblins don't have much fight left in them. Or maybe there aren't that many left to begin with! He feels lucky today, in any case...

Spells restored as per previously

Kaltar steps upto Ewell:
"Come my friend you have need of some healing."

Kaltar grasps his holy symbol, closes his eyes and intones the prayer:

Ewell is immediately aware that the spring in his step has returned. He also makes a mental note to self... stay friends with this one.... He graciously says, "Thank you much. I dont know what you did or how you did it. But, I can feel better already.

He will fall in line to head out.

The group collects their belongings and, while Kaltar cures Ewell (after the proud Strom refuses any assistance, insisting he is fine), the rest of the group works to conceal any sign of their stay. "No sense in calling unnecessary attention to this location," Alordan says, "Just in case."

With everything checked, and double checked, the group elects to pass on scaling the cliff wall. Ewell suggests the group hug the cliff wall, cross the waterfall and head out and no one, at least outwardly, objects. In fact, the plan is met with enthusiasm by Gwilt. "OK, let's take the fight to them, then." he adds, switching to sheaf arrows before moving to lead the party along the cliff wall to the falls.

---

The party is able to head north along the cliff wall without incident and begins to follow it east, towards the falls. Gwilt's observation, that the cave is no longer being guarded by a worg, holds true as the group approaches the restraint the goblins have in place near the enterance to their cave (Gwilt, leading the group, is marked with the 'x' in the excuse for a map below.

Considering they are practically under a waterfall, quiet speaking is probably out of the question...

Gwilt points at Shanny, then does the two fingers to eyes, then points inside the cave to indicate he should use his infravision to peek around the mouth of the cave to see if he can spy anything giving off a heat signature.

Gwilt makes room for Shannigans, looks to make sure Alordan is likewise ready with his bow, then nods to Shanny to go ahead and look...
