Whoahhh! Nelly, he shouts! Then he stops and fires a sling bullet. Then he charges back toward the goblins, roaring, You're going down, at the craven humanoids as he does so and feeling okay as he switches to his heavy mace.

Round Two

Chaos ensues! Drust fires an arrow from 120 yards away, but fails to hit a target. Cardicus advances to within 60 yards and fires a sling bullet, that also misses. Eleric runs forward but can't close in time, neither can Nerith, but the warrior tosses his spear and impales a goblin! Both end up some 20 yeards away from the goblins. Lothgar, manfully strides forward, drawing his axes, and slays two goblins before the beastmen can react. Two goblins move to confront the priest, but he evades their puny blows. The remaining three fire their bows at Eleric and Nerith, but the arrows fall short without damage!

Lothgar notes, out of the corner of his eye, a trussed individual on the forest floor near one of the goblins, dressed in robes and gagged, and tied at the wrists!
Actions for Round Three, please.

Initiative, PCs first:: 2#1d6 3 1
Note that some characters are missing movement rates on their character sheets. I've been assuming their movement is 60. They may run forward:

Nerith runs forward 60 feet and throws his spear, closing to within 20 yards and throwing his spear. The goblins have partial cover, and that applies a -2 penalty to the roll: http://orokos.com/roll/613901: 1d20+1 18 1d6+2 5 1d8 4
That hits, and kills, one. However, he doesn't have another spear, so can't cleave.

Eleric advances to within 20 yards of the goblins.

If he is somewhat lost in the melee and no more of the goblins get in the way, Lothgar will charge that goblin guarding the trussed up victim, screaming ODIN!!!

If he doesn't run, I'll try to sink my axe between his eyes! If the goblin flees, I'll try to loose the captive.

Drust will drop his bow, draw his sword and charge into the fray (nearest goblin). If he can get a back attack on one unaware he will try for it.

Elerik rushes into the fray, he raises his blade and swings.
He will try and disarm the goblin he's attacking using combat mastery (disarm)

Round Three

Everyone advances, Nerith stopping some distance back from the treeline and the others rushing in to engage the goblins. Nerith tosses another handaxe, but with his companions closing to melee he finds it difficult to hit a target, and the axe buries itself in a tree trunk. His companions swing and slice at the goblins, but only Cardicus is able to do any damage. The courageous cleric fells one goblin with his mace and catches a second one in the shoulder on the backswing.

"Cheese it, boys!" Nerith hears one of the goblins call out, "there are too many of them! Retreat!" He can't really see what's going on, given the tree cover, but the goblins disengage from the adventurers and begin to retreat deeper into the woods, weapons interposed between them and the party, seemingly abandoning their other captive.

Morale check:: 3d6 6 That's a fail. They're going to perform a Fighting Withdrawal.

After tossing out a few dirty curses in the direction of the fleeing goblins in his northern tongue, Lothgar will release the bound captive.
OOC -
Once we all greet and meet, Lothgar also needs to go find his spear which he hurled out into the woods somewhere! Also, I'm glad the combat worked out for us all - Lothgar kinda "Leroy-ah-Jenkins'd" the party a bit... but I couldn't see him holding back and running away from a group of goblins who were already shooting arrows at him.

"Cardicus! Check the prisoner, I will screen you from the goblins." Drust moves so he cuts off the goblins from the prisoner, but doesn't pursue.

Elerik moves past his bound companion as the cleric sees to him.
He moves several yards past the group and crouches next to a tree with his shield up to protect him from any arrows that come his way.
He watches intently through the trees and makes sure none of the goblins decide to return.

The goblins melt back into the woods as the adventurers let them go, leaving their dead behind. The bound magician is Elerik's companion, Bodhi the Enchanter. Thus far the magician is unconscious, unresponsive to the adventurers' aid*. The day is still young, the adventurers fresh and mostly unwounded, and they must decide their next course of action.


*i.e. I'm still waiting on his player to appear.

Elerik, how did you come to be captured by goblins? Are there more of them?

Then to the rest of the group.

We may want to move on out of here after we get our missile weapons back. We can move down the road and maybe find a good defensible campsite before dark.

"Well actually I'm not sure. I was riding along the path a few miles back and I think they threw a bloody great rock and knocked me spark out.
I came too tied up next to that mage. I saw about ten goblins in and around the makeshift camp.
Then I heard the commotion of you approaching just as I overheard those stinkin' greenskins debating whether or not to kill and eat us.
I thought I had nothing to lose so I barged over the nearest guard and ran for it."


He grins sheepishly at the stupidity of his capture.

"But tell me friends, how long have you been on the road prospecting the route for this road?
I ask since I only have a weeks worth of trail rations."
