Oh. That sort of answers the question, then. We wait for them to bust it down... No way we could effectively open it into the room with the creatures pounding on it.

"Well, I got nowhere else to be," says Fingers. "Let's wait until they knock the door down or give up. But keep an eye out for anything wandering toward us from somewhere else, okay?"

Bandy nods and periodically glances around while waiting for the door to break down.

Here's my latest map, which I haven't updated since the hall with the skeletons on the walls. I think we're at one of the two doors at the top of the big room.

Sorry about the size; I don't know how to resize a screenshot from my iPad.

Markd suggests they investigate the eastern wall door, then. Hoping the awakened dont succeed in opening the door.

I'm going with Finger's stated action as group lead.
On the map, you opened the right-hand door on the north wall.

Fingers hides next to the doorframe while Bandy and Markd take up flanking positions. Hengist and Allmond stand with holy symbols ready. It is only a few more minutes and the door hinges shatter under the forceful blows! With a splintering of the wood, five ghouls burst into view, slathering for flesh.

They are immediately assaulted by Hengist and Allmond calling upon the might of Baudh - all five of them recoil under the joint summoning of divine power and clamber over each other to flee back into the chamber.

Peeking through the door into the unlit room, you hear them cowering against the back wall.

Date: 2:40pm, 24 July 2021
Light: Allmond holding Markd's lantern (until 4:30pm)
Effects: Turning
Injuries: None

Bandy thinks for a moment and then says, "Oh! I have a vial of holy water in my pack... do you think that would be effective against them? Should we attack them? Or do we just try and grab some stuff?"

"Maybe we could kill them one at a time?" ventures Fingers. "But, yeah, if they'll stay scared, we can just take their stuff and go. Thing is: are they gonna stay scared?"

Do we want to try to fight these one at a time? Is there a way to do that that doesn't seriously risk level drains?

OOC: If they're ghouls, they just paralyze and eat you alive. I think they are considered "turned" unless attacked? Maybe we just attack one at a time... ;) Then the halfling, the thief, and the ugly human try to kill it.

So we can have Fingers pull them individually with bow shots and then the fighter types wail on them?

"I think they will stay against the wall, at least until they get attacked. That may break the turning. If The fighters can deal with one at a time we should be ok. Just hit 'em hard so they can't kit back." Hengist gives his support to Fingers' idea.

Bandy shrugs, "It sounds good in theory!"

He readies his longsword again...

"I guess let's find out," says Fingers. He stands back behind the fighters and fires an arrow at one of the ghouls.

'Silmaril' (THAC0 18): [1d20+4] = 12+4 = 16, [1d8+2] = 5+2 = 7

Do we need an initiative roll?

Standing in the shattered doorframe, Fingers loads his longbow and shoots into the darkness. It is a difficult shot, but he is rewarded by hearing a body crash to the floor, his arrow striking true (-7).

Cornered and under assault, the other ghouls recover as well. You all see the other four ghouls advancing cautiously across the room, slinking around the biers as they reach the edge of your lantern-light in the middle of the room.

"Rude ghouls," quips Fingers as he fires again. "You ask one to battle, and they all invite themselves!"

'Silmaril' (THAC0 18): [1d20+4] = 4+4 = 8, [1d8+2] = 5+2 = 7

Someone else roll initiative, please?

Bandy moves to within striking distance and swipes at the legs of the nearest ghoul...
