Re: OOC Thread
Pretty well decided on an elven fighter/magic-user. Picked Sleep, and rolled Identify and Feather Fall. Need equipment figured out and I'll get a character sheet up.
I rolled 90 on gold, and after armor and weapons I'm afraid I'm not bringing much for hirelings. That's bad old school play, I'm aware, but so is going into the dungeon at AC 10.

Palgravadorix, an honest-to-gods Gaulish druid, will be joining the party shortly.
Do you have any preferred pantheons in play, or can cleric/druid types choose their own?

Re: OOC Thread
I don't have a preference at this time. Should the game go on long enough to become a sandbox then I will incorporate whatever you have come up with into my own. But that is far in the future. We start with Pod-Caverns and at the end of that module is the option to explore further into two more modules.
Re: OOC Thread
Once Hotgoblin posts a character we will begin the game. As we have 6 characters, please upgrade your characters to 4800 XP. Dave R you will be at 2400 in each class to reflect your dual-class.
Everyone will then be 3rd level except Luthandier who will be Fighter 2/Magic-User 2.
- OSRIC 2.2 p 25When a non-human character has more than one character class, any experience points gained by the character will be divided evenly between these two classes, even once the character can no longer progress in one of the classes.
Everyone will then be 3rd level except Luthandier who will be Fighter 2/Magic-User 2.
Re: OOC Thread
Working on it now.

Wow. The roller was horrible to me. But I see I’m not the only one.

Re: OOC Thread
I have some questions about my cleric, some of them quite basic so I hope you'll indulge me;
1. We start at full hp. Does that mean Osford starts at 27hp (d8+1*3)?
2. 3rd level clerics have 2 first level spells and 1 second level spell. Osford's wisdom bonus is 2/2, so he starts this adventure with 4 first level spells and 3 second level spells?
3. I've chosen for Osford to be a follower of Trithereon, a lesser god from Greyhawk. My only reference for Trithereon is a Dragon #68 article by the man himself. There are other sources but I don't have them. Here is a passage I'd like to ask about
"Priests of Trithereon .... (have a) tracking ability as a ranger of one level below his or her cleric level, to a maximum of 8th level tracking ability (for a 9th or higher level cleric). Those of 4th and higher level are permitted the use of spears, and at 8th and higher level clerics of Trithereon can employ broad swords."
Will those tracking and weapon rules be applicable in this game?

Full hp at 1st level. So Osford starts with 9+(d8+1)+(d8+1)
2. 3rd level clerics have 2 first level spells and 1 second level spell. Osford's wisdom bonus is 2/2, so he starts this adventure with 4 first level spells and 3 second level spells?
That is correct.

I don't have a problem with that but take note that in OSRIC tracking is not level based its an ability.:
Tracking: Rangers may track other creatures, with a base 90% chance of success in rural settings (modified by the GM according to such factors as the age of the trail, the prevailing terrain and current weather conditions) and a base 65% chance in urban or dungeon settings (again, modified by the GM to take account of local conditions).
So that means you get the ability at 2nd level. Those percentages do not increase as you go up in level. They stay constant. And I'm OK with the weapons as well. My AD&D group house-ruled the weapons and Cure spells before 2nd AD&D ever came out.
Which is another thing to keep in mind for your character. You do not have to pray for Cure spells. As long as you have an uncast spell slot, you can a Cure spell of the appropriate level on the fly.
I'll put up a House Rules thread as soon as I get a chance.

I'm looking around to see if Cernunnos was ever written up for 1E.

Re: OOC Thread
Here is a start.
The thief can check for traps and then fall back if things get ugly. Plenty of beef up front and guarding the rear, with the squishy in the middle?
Sound off if you don't like your spot.
Kelsey Steelaton/halfling thief
Yulia Carter/human ranger
Luthandier/elf fighter/magic user
Osford Green Ears/human cleric
Travix the Lonely/human magic-user
Palgravadorix/human druid
Ritbert the Bold/dwarf fighter
Ulfang the Barbarian/Human fighter
Travix only has candles for light since he cant carry much more than that. He is happy to carry someone's lantern or torch as we progress, though.
