Expedition: Ablesforth: The Demon Hole - 14 July 2021
Re: Expedition: Ablesforth: The Demon Hole - 14 July 2021
Pendleton practically yelps as he looks for someone large to take cover behind. He holds his silver dagger out unsteadily.
Edit: Attack roll, if any demon thing gets near him.
Silver dagger (THAC0 19): [1d20] = 20 [1d4] = 1

Neegan wakes from his sleep swinging as his Hand Axe was beside him.
+1 Hand Axetohit(THAC017)[1d20+4] = 2+4 = 6,todam[1d6+4] = 1+4 = 5

Crap. I was trying to scroll down the Roll the Dice page on my phone and hit Able's macro for attacking. And poorly, at that. I'd have preferred to cast Protection from Evil on Dare and tried to circle up around the dwarfs, allowing them to use their crossbows. Phooey.
"Persuader" (THACO 18): [1d20+2] = 2+2 = 4, dmg [1d8+2] = 3+2 = 5

If this ends in a TPK, we're going to have to start calling this the one where we were killed by a smartphone.

Pendleton isn't safe for another day. His PfE is from a ring he can use 1/day. Thus rushing to hide behind someone.
But, hey, maybe Marullus will be nice and give you a mulligan because that there's no way Able would have attacked in this situation. We can hope.

Never can tell. Able's standing advice was to hide behind the Templars as a shield wall.
Also, Pendleton is listed as having PfE still, hence my suggestion.

Oh, right. Well, forget I said anything. Especially Marullus should forget I said anything.
Re: Expedition: Ablesforth: The Demon Hole - 14 July 2021
Ablesforth can have a Mulligan.
I will let Pendleton's spell still be working for this encounter.

Re: Expedition: Ablesforth: The Demon Hole - 14 July 2021
Thanks. I can't remember: does attacking negate PfE? Or am I confusing it with invisibility?
Re: Expedition: Ablesforth: The Demon Hole - 14 July 2021
Attacking negates both.
Re: Expedition: Ablesforth: The Demon Hole - 14 July 2021
Thanks. Pendleton will only attack if it seems his PfE isn't working for some reason.

Really? Thanks. I'll try to remember to scroll with my right thumb in the future.Marullus wrote:Ablesforth can have a Mulligan.

As an aside, my (work) computer (which is my only computer) seems to not want to connect to Chrome lately. I'll type in a proper post later.

Able calls to Dolph, Idriss and Pendleton, asking them to link arms in front of the dwarfs. Grasping his silver holy symbol, he calls on Eruanna to Protect Dare from Evil, letting the acrobat know he can help guard the dwarfs from the infernal. Stay close t' the wall and we'll try'n funnel ya outta the room, away from these-here sniffers.
I'll let that Initiative stand.
I would have used the spell on Neegan but he already attacked. Zhym, were there any doors on the map we haven't explored so far? A place we can get through and leave the sniffers behind? Or should we just try that with this door, pouring oil across the threshold and lighting it? Maybe one of the NPCs can light a torch for our escape this round?

"It's just a bad dweem, little beardy-kins. Now go back to sleep."

Re: Expedition: Ablesforth: The Demon Hole - 14 July 2021
Neegan wakes up swinging as the creatures enter, but finds no foes within reach. Ablesforth prays for Eruanna's protection upon Dare, Dolph lights a torch rather than drawing his sword, brightening the room. The incense, still smoking next to Ablesforth's bedroll, emits is thin ribbon of smoke which winds through the chaos and out the doorway before you. The dragon-faced sculptures on the wall leer at you, seeming more amused, and the fresh air entering through the door renews the odor of goblin piss around your bedding.
The half-headed hellspawn pour into the room, outnumbering the party two to one. They press their advantage, falling upon the party before they can effectively regroup. They pair off, attempting to attack everyone at first, but gnash their teeth hissing in anger as they find themselves unable to physically touch anyone but Neegan and Grimble. Neegan gets his shield up in time, barely keeping the slavering creature off of him, but a second one rakes his arm with its claws (-1). Grimble is quick up from his bedroll and dodges his pursuers, ducking eventually behind Dolph.
Ablesforth, Idriss, and Dolph link arms swiftly to try and create a safe space for the others against the wall near the door; Pendleton yelps and dives behind the cover the others provide. Both dwarves join him as well, the creatures now recognizing the threat and concentrating their attentions on reaching those hiding behind those they cannot touch...
(Dare is warded and not part of the arm-circle yet... what is his action?)
You'll have STR checks to keep your human wall effective - I need a [1d20+2] from Ablesforth and I'll roll Dolph and Idriss. You can try to maneuver out the door if it holds successful. Note that you're leaving your packs and bedding behind if you do so.
Date: 23 July 2021, 3:01pm
Light: Red light from ceiling; Dolph's Torch (until 4:00pm)
Effects: Invisibility (Pendleton) Protection from Evil (Ablesforth, Idriss, Dolph, Pendleton), smoldering incense (until 8:20pm)
Injuries: Neegan (minor wounds)

Re: Expedition: Ablesforth: The Demon Hole - 14 July 2021
Pendleton is protected from evil, but his strength sucks. Is there anything constructive he can do in the exit plan?
Re: Expedition: Ablesforth: The Demon Hole - 14 July 2021
That IS an excellent question.
