CHAPTER 7: The Great Mushroom Harvest
Re: CHAPTER 7: The Great Mushroom Harvest
Blixx
Int [1d20+1] = 9+1 = 10
Life Drain [1d20+3] = 2+3 = 5
"Oh, By The Ancients!" Blixx cries out and attempts to Life Drain the nasty things. He tries to get the one's inside his friend as well!
That's pretty horrid, I think Blixx will have nightmares now.
Int [1d20+1] = 12+1 = 13
Flight [1d20+3] = 17+3 = 20
Fear spurs him to get away from the nasty creatures and try to pull away his friend from the mass of squirming death!

Re: CHAPTER 7: The Great Mushroom Harvest
...
Round 2 continued …
Silvestri, Jack and Frekken all rush in and try to move Belial away from the downed mushroom. They try their best to avoid the invisible spores lingering in the air (Fortitude Saves with +2 modifiers).
Silvestri and Jack avoid the influence of the spores, but Frekken wavers and toppled over into the ground. They pull the mutant baboon out of the spore-contaminate area, but have to leave Frekken lay until they can cover their hands and avoid his dermal slime.
Frekken is now unconscious.
---
Blixx, protected by his mask, summons his life force draining powers and attempts to wither the worms away. His mutation fails to activate (cannot be used again today), and he plans for his next move. (Flight in Round 3)
---
Kurot watches the events unravel and makes his move to help his new comrades. He charges forward, into the contaminated area and grabs Frekken to pull him free. The artificial construct is unaffected by Frekken’s poison slime or the invisible spores, and the frogmonn is safely removed from the zone.
---
Actions for Round 3?
Blixx and Denslow have declared their actions.
Belial and Frekken are unconscious.
I will NPC Kurot.

Re: CHAPTER 7: The Great Mushroom Harvest
Jack doesn't wish to hit any of his friends and refrains from using any of his ranged weapons nor does he wish to go melee into the spore cloud area. Reluctantly rather than doing nothing he takes out his crossbow and aims for a worm not so near to any friendlies in the area and fires.
Initiative [1d10+1] = 8+1 = 9 Heavy Crossbow [1d20+2] = 15+2 = 17 to hit [1d8] = 7 dmg

Re: CHAPTER 7: The Great Mushroom Harvest
Not wanting to risk hitting his friends if he uses his bow, Silvestri will start to fashion a mask like Blixx's.

Round 3
Two worms strike at May-Jor before anyone can act, but they are unable to penetrate the cybo-bear’s defenses.
Worms Int = [1d20+4] = 2+4 = 6, [1d20+4] = 19+4 = 23, [1d20+4] = 18+4 = 22
Worm Att = [1d20+4] = 7+4 = 11, [1d20+4] = 4+4 = 8, [1d20+4] = 3+4 = 7
---
Jack steadies his crossbow and fires a bolt into and through one of the swirling masses of noodle-vermin (different than Denslow’s target). His aim is true, and he strikes the swarm (4 dmg) without risking a hit to May-Jor.
---
Denslow hurls another apple, risking friendly fire, yet succeeds with another ‘splat’ (2 dmg) on the same cluster of worms. There are still enough alive for the mass to move around May-Jor’s feet, but his strikes have taken their toll.
Denslow Int. = [1d20+2] = 18+2 = 20
---
Blixx activates his psionic flight and bolts to May-Jor’s position in an attempt to pull her out of harm’s way. The mothish mutant tugs and pulls, but is unable to move the 580lb metal and ursine mutant.
---
Kurot charges back into the fray, bringing his hand axe down into the ground next to one of the worm clusters (miss). The construct is surprised at his failure, and his neural net flashes through his past successes for reference.
Kurot Int. = [1d20] = 7
Kurot axe = [1d20+2] = 9+2 = 11, [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7 dmg.
---
The worm mass counter attacks against the android, but it hesitates as if confused when nearing the feet of the non-living biped.
---
Silvestri fashions a cravat from a piece of his clothing, and wets it with water from his supplies.
Actions for Round 4?
May-Jor is allowed an action for Round 3
Belial and Frekken remain unconscious.

Re: CHAPTER 7: The Great Mushroom Harvest
May-Jor rambles away from the wormy shroom-grove, though giving the rest of the group a wide berth in case she's tracking fungus worms. As she's withdrawing, she'll scrape at her leg with the edge of her axe, basically straight-razor shaving off what worms she can as she moves.
Re: CHAPTER 7: The Great Mushroom Harvest
As May-Jor moves away from the worms, Silvestri will assist by attacking any that try to follow:

Mace Attack [1d20-2] = 6-2 = 4
Blixx hovering over the ground attempts to smash the wormlings with his wrench(mace). Winding up and missing terribly trying to guard his bear-friend's retreat.

Round 4
May-Jor does a high-step scramble and vacates the fungal grove, amazing everyone that a heavy and massive cybernetic bear can move so fast! After she is a safe distance away, the cyborg begins to scrape at her leg to make sure there are no fungal intruders remaining.
Jack fires another bolt into a worm mass, sending more fungal filth spraying into the air (5 dmg).
Silvestri passes the robo-bear streaking out of the grove and brings his sword down for a strike against the slithering strikers, but is unable to hit his mark (miss).
Blixx hovers over the moldy mat of the forest floor and swipes with his mace, but cannot connect with his elusive target (miss).
Kurot tries again to smash a worm cluster, but is unable to find the quick undulating squirmers. He chops, harmlessly, into the flat, layered undergrowth (miss).
Outmatched and without a clear target, the fungal worms burrow into the forest floor and the ground under the mushrooms pulses slightly as they retreat to areas deeper into the forest.

Denslow says, I knew this was a bad idea. We should have gone whaling, whatever that is.

"By the Ancients, that was horrid!" Blixx imagines gruesome little worms tunneling through his body and shudders. It seems this is indeed a terribly dangerous forest.

Re: CHAPTER 7: The Great Mushroom Harvest
Silvestri looks thoughtful "Agreed, certainly not something we would want to repeat if we can. Blix's idea of facemask was effectvie, maybe we should all use them next time. Perhaps we could fashion some kind of long poleaxe so we can keep our distance." he looks over at Kurot "Kurot, I am not one to give orders or wish to put anyone in harms way, but your nature seemed to confuse the worms, would you be willing to try the next 'shroom. We would, of course, be ready to jump in and assist if anything amiss occurs"
Re: CHAPTER 7: The Great Mushroom Harvest
Denslow suggests,I could just toss my exploding fruit in there. We could then harvest what fungus survives.
