Chapter 2: Back to the Barrows!

Lhainor will drop back to the rear of the party and keep an eye on the two doors we passed in case something emerges from either of them while we're checking the open room. Kohrek is still in front with Nimh if something happens up there.

Moony will slowly follow along with Nimh and Kohrek but keeping far enough back to stay out of their way.

The party moves west down the hall an additional 20 feet, where the tunnel opens up into a small (20x20) room. There is one door visible in the eastern half of the north wall, right by the eastward corridor you entered from. The walls are covered in more than 100 octagonal burial niches, each with a small urn inside.

In the center of the room, you see a skeleton lying face-down on the ground. As you enter, an unseen voice begins to moan.

Suddenly, one of the urns flies out of a burial niche, right at Nimh! She is able to block the flying urn with her shield, and it shatters in a puff of dust.

Nimh

"Back out everyone, something unpleasant in here. Most likely some sort of angry spirit." Nimh will start backing up and keeping her shield at the ready. "Maybe we should try one of the doors first."

Can we see any details of the face-down skeleton as we back out of the room?

Perhaps we could put this spirit to rest, but I'm not sure it's worth the risk...

Nimh

"I could try turning it."

[Fingolwyn]

Nimh

"I could try turning it."

Lhainor

Not yet, unless you want to search the burial crypts. It might not stay turned while we see what's behind the other doors, or you might fail and not be able to turn it again when we're ready to search the room.

"OK, the door it is then."

Ok, so there's a north door out of the room, there's a north door in the corridor, and there's a south door in the corridor.

[Rex]

Nimh

"Lets try the odd door out and go south."

[drpete]

You retreat up the corridor to the south door.

Opening it, you see a tunnel heading south. You see that the corridor extends twenty feet, then turns to the east.

Lhainor

Do we want to explore down this hall, or check out the other door (north) in the current hall?

[Rex]

Nimh

"Might as well check the closest door."

Moony nods in agreement with Nimh.

The north door opens into the east end of a 20x20 room. The walls are covered with about 200 square burial alcoves. The alcoves are dusty, and you see cobwebs in them, suggesting that they have not recently been disturbed.

The room is otherwise empty.

Let's search this room for treasure and see what we find. Someone should watch the hall while we search (I will if no one else does).

So just a heads up... searching all of the alcoves would take you about an hour (5 turns of searching, one turn of resting). Are you fine with this?
