Are these goblins unusually well armored? I thought Lug's shot was a hit: THAC0 18, adjusted roll of 14, -2 for cover, medium range, should hit AC 6, no?

And all 20 goblins were arranged to be able to fire? How wide is the hallway here?

Lug can't see the state of their armor from here, but even the remains of the skeletons outside were adorned with piecemeal bits of dwarven chain, this being a dwarven hall. Earlier you could see at least two dozen goblins ahead of you clamoring behind the barricade - as two 10' hallways are meeting ahead of you, it seems that this many of the small creatures can fit in the 100 square foot area, and it appears that yes, a majority of them were able to get off shots, though a majority missed.

As Bremen reloads his crossbow, the last of his torch also gutters out. (Someone please expend a new light source.)

"Screw this," says Lug. "Let's go home. Stupid fuggers don't even know how to say 'we accept your offer' right. Act like we tried to trick them!" He lights a torch and starts back they way he came, sipping a healing potion.

20 goblins in a 10x10 space? And they were all able to operate bows that close together?

If they are listening carefully, Osana and Piers hear some squabbling among the goblins about injuries among their own number, but you were too far away to know details.

I've got to say, I was hoping that, if they were chanting and jumping around, we have had a free, sneak attack. They certainly didn't sounds like they were at the ready. And now that they're saying they were tricked? It didn't sound like they had accepted the offer at all. Hmmph. Dumb goblins. :P

20 is just too many to charge, imo.

Bremen gathers up Stantz and Clauson. I hate to say it, but the big guy is right. This is foolish. Baxtaw, having gone this way in the past, surely you knew how defensible this passage was. Did you bring nothing with you in preparation in case of something like this? If Baxtaw doesn't come up with a plan, Bremen follows Lug out.

Baxtaw- I figured the goblins would have abandoned this place since there is a dragon residing here. I can keep firing magic missiles down picking them hoping they give up before run out the spell.

While Baxtaw speaks, Osuna turns the corner and throws her last magic missile. "Die, you hateful things!" she hisses. "Maybe if we're lucky the dragon will come up and feast on what's left of you! Though if he hasn't eaten you yet, it's probably because you taste as bad as you smell!"

Lug takes a sip of his potion (+1hp); he starts up the stair and Bremen considers following pending a statement of plan from Baxtaw. The stub of Bremen's torch winks out, the darkness of the tunnel fairly complete, only faint reflected light coming from the goblin's torches at the other end of the hallway around the bend.

Osana curses the goblins in their own tongue, hurling both insults and a bolt of magical energy which looks to have taken out another goblin at the barricade. The goblins bustle amongst themselves, hauling away the injured or dead from the tunnel intersection where the barricade is. They do not disburse, however, instead reforming with continued resolve behind the barricade, though lessened in number.

Bremen waits another moment to see if the elf acts upon his offer to spend his magic. He whispers in the darkness, Can anyone make light with magic? If so, we could sit here quietly until they come looking for us or leave. If they come, cast light and attack.

Pierssuddenly breaks off from staring blankly into space."I have a Light spell" he says. "If everybody wants to go with the surprise attack plan, I can use it. But I'm tempted to just go back upstairs". He returns to staring into space again.

Bremen opts to wait silently where he is, hoping the goblins will become either bored or curious. If he hears them padding down the hallway (in their dwarf armor), he'll signal to Piers to cast light on something that doesn't get a saving throw. Then he and Stantz will charge out and fight. Anyone with a spear or such can attack from the second row.

He won't wait longer than 30-45 minutes though. If that threshold is hit, he will leave.
