Beyond the Guard Room
Junius opens the door in front of him and confirms that the guard room is as they left it. Not wasting any time, the dwarf begins to creep towards the previously unexplored door on the opposite side of the room. Once the rest of the group has taken their places, Junius slowly opens the door to the area beyond, which creaks slightly as the dwarf pulls it open. A faint rustling or shuffling sound is heard beyond.
Then a somewhat more distant, muffled scream.
The new door opens into a room of similar size and shape as the guard room leading into it. With everyone on high alert, Junius peeks into the room and spies the sad and broken faces of eight men staring back at him; their stares full of sorrow and absent any hope. Open sores and blood are noticed at the wrists and ankles of these men where they're shackled to the walls and floors. The prisoners wear only pants; their upper torsos riddled with scars, with some sporting still open wounds.
None make any effort to communicate.
There is another door on the far end of the room, closed and dark. The muffled screams can be heard from within that room.

"Oh. I guess I have to do my thing," Horatio utters uncomfortably. The thief cautiously enters the room and carefully inspects the floor as he patiently works his way across the room. Junius uses this opportunity to turn and quietly ask the prisoner nearest him who they are and what happened. The prisoner weakly identifies himself as Gord Greenshaw, an elite warden sent in by Thatcher to search for and save the recruits. He doesn't know how long he's been here, but he suspects it's been several days, and that he was unable to locate any recruits before his capture.
When he spies Horatio enter his line of sight, heading towards the room on the far wall, a look of fear crosses his face. He admits he has endured two rounds of torture by the goblin abomination in the next room, and his fellow prisoners, whom do not speak -- they may have had their tongues cut out? -- were here before him, and have certainly endured far worse.
The longer the group lingers in the room, the more their senses are assaulted. Each prisoner has a small pot near them, but their restraints restrict their movement so much they are unable to reach them -- and have soiled themselves many times over. By their frail appearances, Gord and the rest of the prisoners do not appear to have been fed in some time.
Horatio reaches the far door and it doesn't require his thieving skills to hear what is taking place on the other side -- torture!

If he thinks they are safe, she will try out the keys they found the day before and tries to unlock him and the others. I'll take them to the other room. once they are in the room where the goblins were killed the day before, she offers each prisoner water and rations. I'm AdaRue Hanspitcher, a cleric-midwife of the Mother. We'll help you to get out of here and back to town.

AdaRue stays with the freed prisoners, ensuring they do not flee on their own, thereby alerting more guards. She keeps herself between the prisoners and the door, which is closed.

Locked Torture Chamber
Gord informs Junius that the neighboring room is small, with just enough room for the torturer, his gruesome instruments, and a toture rack.
At the door, Horatio inspects it for traps and finds none... but he also doesn't find a handle or other means of entry. Gord, noticing the thief's struggle, adds that the torture chamber is locked from the inside. He wasn't exactly afforded the opportunity to prove out his suspicions, but he does not believe there is a way to gain entry from the room they're in.
AdaRue approaches Gord and asks if his shackles are trapped. After his assurances that they're not, she produces one of the keys she has in her possession and releases his binds with a simple twist. The man rubs at his newly freed wrists and profusely thanks the midwife. Once his ankles are freed, he collapses against the wall and hangs his head; clearly he never thought he'd be afforded his freedom again, and his exhaustion is both physical and mental.
As AdaRue moves to the next prisoner, Horatio backs away from the door and shares their dilemma -- there is no apparent way inside.
