Saracen readies his bow at the waters edge with the elfling. He places his shield upright in ge sand before him, and lays his flail at its feet behind it. Nocking an arrow and searching the surface of the sea near Monocar, the half-orc prepares to fire if the creature surfaces again.

Re: Quest #8 "Bring Me The Sea Monsters Head"
Getting Pulled Out To Sea
Round 11
Alordan lets go of Monocar and draws his sword, leaving Raythan to play tug-o’-war with the huge sea troll all alone. He thrusts at the monster to no avail while Raythan continues to pull towards shore. Luther also takes a poke under the water, thinking he made a good attack. He hits the beast, but his sword does not penetrate the thick green hide of the sea monster. The two rangers begin to realize that fighting this beast in its own element is even more futile than trying to goad it up onto the shore. Luckily for them, the creature doesn't return their attacks, content to continue pulling, hoping to escape with its meal if it still can.
Raythan keeps pulling with all of his might while trying to tread water and is now barely able to touch the sea floor. Unfortunately for him, against the much larger water dwelling creature, he is now also starting to get pulled out to sea along with the drowning Mountain. He finds that he cannot free the fighter from the beasts grasp on his own. He begins to panic, about to let go if he doesn't get some help soon. Since he cant get him flipped over onto his back while pulling, he doesn't even know if the human yet lives or not. The blood still spilling from the fighter is beginning to tint the clear water around them a rusty brown color.
Jack and Saracen stay on the shore, watching and waiting for the monster to show itself again so they can fire their bows.

Alordan begins to panic as hope starts to slip away... With little choice left to help his comrade, he strikes again to goad the bastard into releasing Monocar....
Long Sword Attack [1d20] = 8 (THACO=20)
Long Sword Damage(+1 str) = S/M: [1d8+1] = 8+1 = 9 / L: [1d12+1] = 5+1 = 6
ugh.

Jack, lost boy:
If the grownups can't stand with their heads above water, then Jack won't stand a chance.
When the surf runs red, Jack almost yells, "What's going on!" But the faeries taught him long ago to never ask a question he already knew the answer to.

Saracen remains at the waters edge, bow ready. "Someone else grab the mountain before Raythan gets pulled under as well. That will give the priest of magic time to work something upon the scrag!" he yells desperately.

Getting Pulled Back To Shore
Round 12
The tug off continues as Monocar is yanked back and forth in the sea, all the while the human sucks more water into his lungs. Luther sees the futility in trying to fight this thing while in its own domain. He sheathes his sword and gives a mighty yank on the dying form of his friend. This action gives the struggling Raythan the precious moments needed to ask his god for aid. He quickly chants the words to a healing prayer, all the while still pulling the Mountain towards shore. The chaos of his current situation prevents the spell from bringing Monocar back to consciousness, but it should buy him a little more time to drown. healed 3 hit points
Alordan thrusts again to little effect. He can see that, even though the groups attacks nearly had the thing conquered, this monster seems to be getting stronger by the minute again now for some reason. Though his sword strike didn't hit, it must have made an impression as the tug of war seems to be leaning in the favor of his friends again. Luther stands on the sea floor, his head barely above the water. He yanks again with all of his strength, finally freeing his friend from the strong clawed grip of the sea monster. The action tears some flesh away from Monocars legs, 2 dam but the pair of underwater wranglers is finally able to free the huge fighter enough to get him rolled over onto his back. Blood pours from the fresh wound as low audible groans emanate from the unconscious floater. Monocar has a serene and simple smile upon his pale blue face, clearly thinking about some happier times in his life as its end nears........for the second time in as many days.

Alordan backs up to shore with Monocar and his rescuer behind him! He will thrust with his sword again should the beast get greedy for yet another meal.

When Monocle is freed, Luther hauls him to shore as fast as he can. He glances at Raythan to make sure that the cleric has him, then turns back to the sea, ready to battle the thing.

Getting Pulled Back To Shore
Late Afternoon
Hot, Humid, Sunny
The trio combine their strength and continue pulling Monocar back to the safety of the shoreline. Alordan stays vigilant and keeps his sword at the ready in case the monster rears its ugly head again.
Apparently content with only one meal, the beast does not reappear, allowing the three comrades to get the unconscious fighter safely to the beach. Blood continues to pour from the mans wounds, staining the sand again, very near to where Devrin fell.

Alordan seeing no counter attack pending will tend to Monocars wounds as best he can. He'll bind them with the shirt off his back if he has to.

Raythan casts his final healing prayer over the unconscious Monocar, just as he begins to slip away into the darkness again.
His healing touch brings a little color back into the fighters huge face, but the spells power is not enough to bring him back to consciousness. healed 5 hp
The half-elf looks down the beach the two mile walk back to Beachtown.
"I guess someone will have to carry him."

Once Alordan catches his breath, he will start to carry Monocar as far as he can (as far away from the water as he can) and make there way back to town....
