Marodin does not speak Goblin. For some reason, I thought Tink was speaking Common. If he only speaks Goblin, I'll stop my attempts to recruit him.

Yeah, there were actually a few goblins that spoke Common. Tink is not one of them. I will try and remember in the future to put all non-Common posts in italics, to differentiate. It is something I normally do, but for some reason just completely spaced on.

So what are we doing next? Are we going back to town to bank all these electrum pieces? Or are we continuing on?

I am also strongly in favor of dispatching two characters to quickly return to town and get a couple pack animals. I wonder if we couldn't get a mule in the dungeon, harness it, tie a rope around the chest, and haul the damn thing out.
Bregalad the elf is in support of Marodin's idea for sending 2 people back to town. However, with his new oath, he will be staying in the tunnels. Does anyone wish to go back to town? Drudsa will not be able to cast again until the next day. Drudsa, do you want to head back for mules?

Lanny votes to push forward through the caves until Aleena is found, not wanting to lose any momentum or the element of surprise. He also favors hiding the chest (maybe under the flea-ridden bed in the goblin lair) until their mission is complete (but first removing and keeping the vial/dagger/parchment). He hopes that the party's base speed does not drop below 20' due to coin overload, as that will slow the whole group down considerably. If a majority prefer to return to town first for the pack animals, Lanny will not object, but will suggest that fortifications need to be set up within the caves to deal with potential wandering monsters.

Thordin the dwarf

I am actually a fan of stashing the treasure somewhere and pushing through. Take that with a grain of salt, though, as I am not a caster and have full HP!

There are a number of places outside where the treasure could be secreted with some degree of security. Keep in mind, also, that it is much safer to retreat and camp outside. I check for random encounters outside twice per day. Once at night, one in the day. In the dungeon I check every two turns!

Tratiln agrees that hiding the loot outside is the best bet in order to continue on.

Bregalad the elf will agree with any of these options; each has its own risks and benefits. However, not being overladen with treasure sure sounds good. Some of us could hold our position, while the others hide the treasure outside. It does seem like our safest and most expedient option.

I agree that some of us taking some treasure out and hiding it, while others stay and guard the remaining treasure, is a good idea. Rinse and repeat until all treasure is outside and hidden.

stashing treasure outside = a good idea. 4 of us may not be able to lift and move that chest, but perhaps 5 of us can?

By the way, did anyone lay claim to the dagger or vial? I assume Tratlin has the parchment. Unless someone specifically wants to carry those items, I'd suggest that Drudsa hold on to stuff like that, so that they can be tested for magic properties later...

Might be time to sort out how we're going to divide treasure. Randomly rank the party 1 through 9 and have a draft?

I'd prefer to see the items first be offered to those who can make use of them, and then a lottery.

I am sure there will be times when multiple players can use a particular item. In such cases, it would be nice to see those items distributed evenly, until each person has received something of value to them. Mutually agreed-upon trades would be great, too.

In any event, I pass on the items found so far, because they would most likely be of better to use to other individuals.

Ah, and I can cast detect magic on all of the items collected so far, if anyone is curious whether our items are of a magical nature (the dagger and vial, for instance).

The trap can be reset. Let me know who is staying with the treasure and who is making the trips outside, unless everyone is going out together.

I agree with the suggestions by sulldawga and finglas. I also favor the idea of doing a comprehensive treasure distribution OOC at the end of the mission (which would mean someone would need to keep a master list of all treasures obtained during the mission). Not to say, of course, that some items cant be carried or used IC during the mission. I seem to remember an old formula from Basic D&D treasure distribution that went something like this. For a "share", you took either:

1 permanent magic item (weapon, wand, etc.) and 0 shares treasure
1 temporary magic item (potion, scroll, etc.) and 1/2 share treasure
1 share of treasure

We could have the above rule available as a "fallback method" or general guideline, and then first try to follow what Finglas suggested about selecting items IC based on our characters' needs/wishes. Even if Bregalad chooses to use his "Detect Magic" anytime during the mission, we can also assume he will use it again after the mission is over, when we have gathered all treasures together for a final distribution.

Lanny also passes on the dagger/vial for the same reason as Bregalad.

Or, we can scrap all of the above and just play it by ear. For right now, I just wanted to make sure that one of the PCs picked up those items so that we didnt forget about them later, and that the PCs know who is carrying them.

Lanny will offer to scout ahead for the group that is carrying the large sacks out of the cave, using heatvision if necessary. Once the chest becomes light enough that the four strongest PCs CAN actually lift and carry it, then Lanny will suggest that the whole group escort the chest together, for safety in numbers.
