DM rolls a whole bunch of dice
Tempus, the ever daring halfling, decides he must have the one-of-a-kind glass. He orders his big black bear to stay, pulls out his dagger, stands on his tiptoes, and uses it to lift the carafe off the silver tray by its handle. A few drops splatter on the table (and on the halfling), but nothing happens. Over the next several minutes, he is able to force the tray - about 10 pounds in weight, into his pack and the empty wine glass. Please add tarnished silver tray (10 lb) and warped drinking glass to Tempus' inventory. He leaves the carafe with liquid that looks like wine on the wooden table.
The rest of the group, save Galan and Chet, watch the doors nervously as the hummingbird continues to flit around, resting from time to time on the floor far from the party.
Galan and Chet take turns rotating through the four unexplored doors, straining to hear what they can on the other end. They hear nothing through the ornate door to the north - perhaps it is too thick. But Galan hears something on the other side of the southwest-most door in the room (blue dot on map), and Chet hears a similar sound, though fainter, through the door just north of it (orange dot). It sounds like a large object, sliding along stone, with some rustling and...tapping? The sound is slow and intermittent.
The listening takes ten minutes, giving the party plenty of time to think about what might be coming next.
The hummingbird seems to grow impatient and flies thorough the arch in the south of the room, disappearing from sight.

Barely able to contain herself after all this holding still, Yenny approaches the carafe on the floor and sniffs it, hopefully without touching it.

After being told of the varying sounds from the two doors, DAndelion suggests they go toward the southern one, as it presents them a better chance of not being heard while entering, and gives them a better chance of disrupting any mechanical trap.

Angus stands back. "Ain't so keen on heading where the machine noises are," he says. "Might be mechanical monsters."

“It could be possible that whatever is making that noise is trying to get our attention. This is almost an impossible theory, but I think it might be in league with the hummingbird, trying to distract us and getting us to go in there.”

Overcome with desire for the liquid in the carafe, Yenny steps onto her toes and sniffs the splattered burgundy-colored liquid...and the air around the carafe itself. The armored gnome inhales deeply, expecting the sweet bouquet of fermented grapes.
But she's not quite satisfied. The wine smells kind of like wine, but the aromatic alcohol smell is very mute - and the fruit smell dominates. After some sniffs, she determines it's not quite wine, but not quite grape juice either...rather...something in between.

"Hmm, how very curious." Yenny touches her finger to the liquid, sniffs it up close, and puts a drop on her tongue.

"Well, I think we'd be better off opening the door where there's less noise" says Rufus, "because..." He stops, startled by Hyde's yell.

Angus nods at Rufus. "I reckon we gotta open one of these doors eventually," he says. He steps up and opens the door behind which no noise was heard.

"Good idea." Galan says. If nothing pops out, he will enter carefully and begin to look around for traps and such.
