OTHERSPACE: Episode Three: DESOLATE Awaits
OTHERSPACE: Episode Three: DESOLATE Awaits
Alliance Light Freighter Outrunner; Otherspace
The Rebel Agents make thier way back to the Outrunner and take a gander at the new….whatever it is….that dominates the nearby area. The moon-let/possible ship/whatever is surrounded by a number of wrecked ships orbiting it in addition to having several wrecks actually resting on the object's surface as well.
Zinn maneuvers the ship closer through the swarm of derelict craft towards the central object and the scene reminds the Rebels of a busy spaceport…in an eerie kind of way. A tug floats nearby as a light freighter spins wildly off the other bow. On the object itself, strange domes on each end of the….craft…begin to glow with an otherwardly light.
At the co-pilot's station, Jackson takes a long look at the scopes and notices that there is what appears to be a tunnel or entrance into the center of the…..whatever it is….that thier ship could fit in and that several escape pods from the Celestial apparently entered based on the recency of the ion trails. Pointing this out to Zinn, the pilot maneuvers the Outrunner to take a better look and sure enough, after a few moments, the entrance comes into view and the sight of a trio of Escape Pods can be seen resting inside the structure. Crodowski speaks up again and informs everyone that there is a magnetic shield at the entrance and that inside of the shielding; the atmosphere is breathable for all of them….
OOC: Here's a picture of the object you're seeing….its the front cover of the module.

"Not sure this qualifies as 'any port in a storm' but it may be our best place to start."
Re: OTHERSPACE: Episode Three: DESOLATE Awaits
"My only concern is those escape pods," Clark adds, "I'd bet those are the criminals, not the crew."
"Still, our only other option would be to attempt an EVA on some of those ruined ships, which could be dangerous with murderous criminals around."

Vale agrees. "It doesn't look like we have much choice, at least until our hyperdrives are repaired. The number of ruined vessels don't give me much hope of ours faring any better. I believe we are being picked up by this dimension's street cleaners, if you take my meaning."

Zuul paces impatiently and mutters to himself.
"Cursed shipss, why can't we ever just find something to kill. Why must it alwayss be hide and seek?"

Zinn's not happy about it; but not seeing any real alternatives, he maneuvers the ship into the 'cave-like' opening and through the magnetic shield to touch down near the crashed escape pods. Looking around; the Rebels can tell they are in a massive, hollowed out section….like a cavern inside of a volcano….though there's no immediate signs of anyone around….
Vale stretches out with the Force and he can detect a few human feelings from multiple beings, though it's indistinct and frequently…..cut-off and then back on somehow…like a comms signal being jammed. He catches bits of fear, confusion, anger, pain and a HUNGER from something very, very alien to him...
Looking out the cockpit the Rebels can see that the Escape pods all have opened hatches and tracks of numerous people leaving from them and headed towards the center of the station/ship/whatever it was they were all on. Looking up and all around; they can see in the immediate area due to some kind of strange, irregular lights along the rocky walls here and there; but the far distance both straight up and towards the center are lost in darkness. The tracks of the people onboard the pods seem to go towards an incline or ramp, that disappears into the darkness above them….

"Well, we're here now so let's just try to get out again as fast as possible", Clark replies to Gavin. He heads up the ramp.
Re: OTHERSPACE: Episode Three: DESOLATE Awaits
"Agreed. If those tracks are from the crew, we need to find them. If they are from the imps, we need to make sure they can't return to the Empire. Either way I think we need to follow."
Re: OTHERSPACE: Episode Three: DESOLATE Awaits
"We must watch our step," warns Vale. He prepares to follow the tracks once they have landed and disembarked.

Zinn shakes his head at the direction this mission has taken. "I don't like this at all, but we can't get out of here without a working hyperdrive. We'll lock the ship up tight when we go." Getting out of the pilot's couch, he checks all his gear, making sure all is in place. He draws his blaster carbine and says, "Let's get this done and get outta here. I want this place seeing our ion trail, and soon."

Alliance Light Freighter Outrunner and First Level of Strange alien ship/station in Otherspace
After gathering gear and arms; the Rebels lower the boarding ramp of the Outrunner and they carefully make their way down and into the....cavern....they have found themselves in. The atmosphere is cold and a bit wet and thick, but breathable. As they cautiously make their way towards the long ramp, following the tracks of the Escape Pod crews and strange sound can be heard echoing in the massive chamber and the Rebels drop down with weapons at the reay....
An Adoris Feline; a small cat-like animal that is quite common throughout the galaxy as a pet, comes slowly walking down the ramp towards them. It's movements are very stiff and jerky and something seems rather....off...about it. As it gets closer to the Rebels, the one-time pet's face comes fully into view and the eyes have a stare that seems to be seeing....nothing. The creature is not responding in any of the typical ways one might expect....either fearful and darting away from them or perhaps cautiously creeping forward or stopping and giving them a curious expression....it is just monotonously moving forward with a stiff gait....
Vale and Professor Clark seem to step forward together to examine the creature and both are rather distressed by what they see. Professor Clark finds himself wondering if this is perhaps some kind of incredibly life-like looking robot while Vale Starcloud reaches out with the Force and detects a TOTAL ABSENCE of the Force in the creature.....despite the fact that it is DEFINITELY a real animal and one that is moving. Whatever has 'zombified' the poor animal is CLEARLY an abomination against everything he knows about the Force and its interaction with all living things....
The Feline wanders away from the group, never showing any signs of having noticed other living creatures near it; and the Rebels; now thoroughly spooked, continue on. The ramp continues to gradually rise and now, thin tubes of light extend along the edges of the ramp and up the massively thick and large, rock-like walls. As the Rebels finally come to the top of the ramp, they are immediately taken in by the sight of the massively wide and tall cavern they are in. It is easily 400+ meters wide and probably 3 times that in height; with the Rebels at a level about 200 or 300 meters from the bottom. Above them, they can see at least 3 more levels stretching across the open cavern right to left; stacked on top of each other; all lit up in a sickly reddish-gold light emanating from a massive column that runs through the center of each level and would seem to serve as a power core of some kind. (I.e., imagine being at the bottom of a silo with a lighted pole running thru the center and 3 bridges crossing the silo that can be seen from below) It wasn't immediately clear how the upper levels were accessed....
On the floor all around them a strange design showing patterns of stars and webs like those of arachnids (paintings of them) stretched for as far as the eye could see; occasionally hidden by strange 1 meter tall plant-like pods that crop up here and there. Sometimes these pods were by themselves; sometimes they were in patches or up to a dozen or so. The Pods seemed to be covered in a hard peel of some kind and many had thorny tendrils growing out of them. Once again, Vale could detect NO sign of the Force emanating within these 'plants' and the Jedi shuddered at the unnatural nature of it all. From a clump of pods perhaps twenty meters away; blast marks could be seen here and there and a few of the pods had been crushed; leaving stains from a sickly yellowish-green liquid that had spilled out of them. Some more of the web-like strands found on the Celestial could be seen in the area and a human figure, lying on the ground moved slightly and a feminine moan of pain could be heard.....

Clark rushes forward to aid the human figure on the ground! Depending on her condition, he will either administer first aid or question her about what happened and why she is here. He will also look for any resemblance to the missing criminals, particularly "Zardra".

Gavin cautiously follows Clark to aid the female though more held back and alert weapon ready in the event that this is foe rather than friend.

First Level of Strange alien ship/station in Otherspace
As the Rebels rush over, they find a badly wounded human woman who looks to be in her forties and who is wearing a utility spacer's uniform with the rank symbols of an Alliance Captain and who Jackson immediately recognized as Captain Jemma Gryphon….
Her mid-section has been sliced open by what looks to be very sharp claws and similar marks have shredded her uniform sleeves and she has clearly lost a lot of blood. Professor Clark also quickly notices that her skin has a greenish tinge as does her network of veins, which is almost certainly a sign of her having been poisoned…probably by whatever scratched her. With a rattling breath and moans of pain, Captain Gryphon opens her eyes and takes in the group of Rebels with a glassy-eyed look. Her gaze sweeps over Jackson and a slight bit of relaxation comes over her pain-lined face….
"Jackson….it's good….to see you. This mission has clearly not….gone very well….Ravik and the other escaped prisoners took me hostage and used….the escape pods to come to this…..abomination after the……spider-shadows attacked us. I guess my crew followed……I saw poor Chief Engineer Skellington get dragged away by those….things…..I tried to stop them, but they have…quite….the ability to slice with thier claws…..and they come out of no-where……My crew….you must try to save them….I know the Security team was….all killed by Ravik and the Imperials….but Skellington, Connors….Moonshot….Qualendo….Bakarra...Doc Sunray….you've got to…..find….them…."; her voice trails off into nothing and her body heaves and shakes a few times and then she lies very, very still…..
All of the Rebels had seen enough in this war to recognize that Captain Gryphon had gone to the great beyond. After a long, silent moment of respect for the fallen officer; Jackson spoke to the others, saying that those names were the names of the Chief Engineer and first officer (Skellington); the four bridge crew and the Medical Officer (Doc Sunray) from the Celestial. Now the only real question, was where to go from here….
Looking around the massive area they found themselves in, off in the distance, opposite from the way they came; some kind of large hole with reddish gas or mist rising from it could be seen and past it; it looked like some kind of series of pillars or columns rising out of the ground…..

Re: OTHERSPACE: Episode Three: DESOLATE Awaits
Jackson gently closes the captain's eyes and then gets up and looks at the others. "Skellington is our Chief Engineer and First Officer. Connors, Moonshot, Qualendo and Bakarra are bridge officers. And Doc Sunray, he's the Medical Officer. I know we all want to get out of here as quickly as we can but if they are all still alive, we can't go leaving them here. I have no idea what exactly these spider-shadows are but no-one should be left in their 'care'. I suggest we head towards those pillars or whatever over there and start looking for the remaining crew."
