The Golden Tooth Tavern
Re: The Golden Tooth Tavern
Earc Orctongue
Earc nods at Amistad's inquiry.
"Yeah, um... I was just finishing up my notes on the darts when Brother Mylo knocked at my door. He thought my room was No. 9 and was looking for this Foxy woman. I showed him that someone had tampered with the number and that I was No. 6. We located No. 9 down the hall, which was made to look like No. 6, and he knocked at the door."
He looks around somewhat awkwardly before continuing, "We heard, umm... water splashing in a noisy sort of way, but nobody would come to the door. So in order to do it all proper like, I put her to sleep and then Brother Mylo and his templars took her away to the infirmary. They also recovered a book covered in human skin and a creepy skeletal hand. I asked Brother Mylo if I might study the book a bit, but he said it still belongs to Foxy. He said he will inquire with her once she awakens, letting her know I helped to save her. There were some useful spells contained within and, if Brother Mylo is to be believed (which I do), there is no curse upon the book."
"Yes, I think our next trip should be to the sage! You say you've met with him before, then? Maybe we should head that way together - see if he is interested in one or two of the coins for a proper amount of money and maybe even one of the darts. I only have four of them now, but it might be worth it if, as you say, he can provide us with some coin for buying one of those potions for breathing underwater."

Amistad
No I haven't met the sage fellow, just read some notice board saying he would pay for interesting objects' d'art and information. The forge can create a harpoon type weapon too but it might take a few days first, I gave my bullywug longspear to Acheadany the mercenary to help her feel part of the team. Taking her on, she would get the same portion as a retainer like Alcide, I believe.
Amistad and Earc leave for the wooden keep? Amistad will let Earc do the talking.

Earc Orctongue
Earc nods and stands up, ready to go see the Sage.
OOC: A little busy most of the rest of the day, but will try to get a post in at the Sage's thread at some point today or this evening. Sorry for the delay... RL and all that.

Re: The Golden Tooth Tavern
Foxy O'Hare
Foxy walks into the tavern, clothes ripped and shredded and bloody cloth covering a wound to her head. Blood runs down her face which she leaves to drip, spattering on the floor as she walks.
Mr Hyde, your establishment is poorly run. That thugs and ecclesial provosts can wantonly abduct and abuse young women from your refuge is a great shame. I demand restitution from you,...and that bottle of finest red over there.
She will take the bottle, swigging a large amount straight from it instead of using a glass, then go upstairs to check the remnants of her room and see how another set of men have again put their greasy fingers through a load of ladies personals.

Re: The Golden Tooth Tavern
Hyde says nothing as Foxy yells at him and takes the bottle of red wine from his rack, letting her retreat with it upstairs.
"Well..." he says to those at the bar, drying a glass. "glad they figured she ain't possessed by demonic forces like was feared." He wipes the blood drip off the bar, gazing up the stairs after her. "Seems she just ornery as a hound-dog's mother." He shrugs and takes the next round of drink orders.

A week passes in the tavern, the bard Regis and his lute making a stirring tale of The Children and the Goblin King. The tale is of Foxy, the Flame of the North, and Clay, the Child of the Forest, who set out to rescue the Farrow Farm children from the goblin's clutches when no one else would. They overcome a horde of goblins, defeat foul necromancers, and walk into the very bowels of the Goblin King's fetid halls to emerge with the two young girls. They gain the aid of the farmers along the way and Foxy's bravery inspires the faltering hearts of the boy Clay and the farming men each time they go to flee rather than continue on against their harrowing foes.
The bard's catchy song, Foxy, Flame of the North, becomes popular in the tavern as the gratitude for the rescued children spreads among the townfolk. Engraved arrows saying "flame of the north" appear with play bows among the town's children. Following Idriss's lead, the children begin play-acting the rescue of the children, taking turns playing the heroine.

Re: The Golden Tooth Tavern
Foxy pays Mr Hyde to keep her suite taken for another two weeks ( May 14th - 28th).
She will leave town with Idriss and hired mercenary to 'go bounty hunting' at sunrise May 20th.
3sp a night for the suite, but I think I paid 2gp last time since she was not eating there. Let me know what Hyde bargains I'll mark it off.

As dusk falls on the town of Gaul, Carchannoi the elf returns, riding alone on his horse and approaching up the road from the south. He stables his horse and settles into the inn for the night.

Midday, 23 May 2021
A few days pass with drizzles and milder weather. A violent windstorm buffets the town today, though, with 40mph winds damaging roofs and window shutters.

Re: The Golden Tooth Tavern
Dorath enters the inn. He scans the room and heads for a table near an area of activity. He wants to be able to watch the other patrons but not necessarily be part of the action.
He orders: A mug of wine and a plate of whatever is hot from the kitchens if you please. Also, I will need lodging for the next week. Nothing special, not looking for privacy, only rest.

Re: The Golden Tooth Tavern
Hyde smiles broadly and gets him food and lodging as requested, also pointing out the Adventurers corner where maps and notes lie sprawled on the table.
(see the first post in this thread for prices. Just post what you get and note with an ooc tag in red to show you deducted coin on your sheet; no DM response is usually needed. The Maps thread and Songs of Gaul thread are IC resources you can learn from and use while in the tavern. Other characters in town can all interact freely.)

Dorath smiles and hands over coin to cover his stay for the next week. He makes his way to the table indicated and begins to peruse the maps and information.

Re: The Golden Tooth Tavern
A tall man, clean shaven, short cropped black hair opens the tavern door. He strides inside and shuts the door behind him, not just shoving it but closing it orderly. His paces measured he walks to the bar, hands over the copper pieces for ale and food and turns to take a table in the corner. He seems to carry a metal coat hangar which he fixes to hold his jacket, a long uniformed trenchcoat with motif epaulettes. He hangs his coat on the peg and hooks up a rather large military flail. Everything about him speaks of order and service, creased trousers, gloss shiny boots, even the way he folds his hands to give 'grace' or the way he uses his own silver cutlery and folds a napkin by his plate. He places on the chair next to him a lacquered and plumed helm. He sits upright, not moving except for eyes which constantly scan the room.
"Proprietor Hyde, I commend your simple barrack room fayre. If rooms are available I will avail of one and make no succour to the Bishops' hospitality."
Tyrrell, sits back and listens to the Bard singing expedition songs.

Re: The Golden Tooth Tavern
One of the other people in the tavern's common room rises: an elf, androgynous and dressed in rough, utilitarian clothing. "A fresh adventurer, eh?" it says. "Welcome to Gaul. What's your name?"
Re: The Golden Tooth Tavern
Tyrrell
Tyrrell moves his helmet from the chair next to him indicating to the elf to come and sit at the table. "Adventurers come and go. At least the Bard sings so. Do you know of these heroes of song, I thought the Duke and his men burned out the last of the goblins."

Re: The Golden Tooth Tavern
The elf laughs. "Would that that were true. My name, incidentally, is Carchannoi. What is yours?"
Re: The Golden Tooth Tavern
Tyrrell
"Tyrrell, that's double R and double L. Just in case the Bard needs to eulogise my fortunes in song. Carchannoi? 'He who charms goblins and ogres'. Do you often consort with the Dukes' enemies?"

Goblins are like bedbugs, you can never really get rid of them. If you leave just one they spawn all over again.
