Re: Ill news is an ill guest
Thorgrim covers several hundred yards when all of a sudden he realizes that the rest of the party is not behind him. He stops, confused, and looks around, left, right, and then up. "Ack, by Moradin's hanging hammer! That would be a lot faster." He quickly pops the cork on a flight potion, chugs it, and joins the rest of the party - in the air.

Re: Ill news is an ill guest
The party drinks the strange magical fluid. Almost immediately a tingling sensation runs up your bodies like a thousand ants. You feel your weight lesson as if someone is pulling you from above with a rope. Eirenaios is the first to look to the heavens and his feet leave the ground slightly. He laughs and climbs over the groups heads. The rest join him in the air and you make small maneuvers to become accustomed to the sensation and movement.
"Remember!" shouts the little gnome now fifty feet below you, "By noon look to the ground lest the ground come lookin fer you!"
After a few more moments of orientation one by one you start speeding to the north following the orc trail. The trees are thick, but dipping low you can spot their destructive path through the brush and follow easily enough. Gaining confidence you increase your speed.
the potion will last longer than Craxzus spell. Does he still shape change into a bird?

No he will save that spell when they are nearer to there target. He may need it to get into the village to warn them. Is it possible to combine potions? I am talking using fly and speed.

Re: Ill news is an ill guest
speed potions increase personal speed not magic movement. If you actually had wings that would work.
The wind whips by as you brave faster and faster speeds. The forest below zips by for hours. In the distance you can see you near the mountains. A crater can be seen. Perhaps a long dead volcano. Thin wisps of smoke can be seen drifting above its edges.
Below you, you spot your quarry!
An orc scout with a bow, 4 grunts carrying a plank with 3 chests on it, and 1 straggler with a spear bringing up the rear. They seem to have been slowed by the forest and their load. Just ahead the approach a stream.

Throm motions that the group should fly up ahead of the orcs and land up ahead so that the orcs head into an ambush. He uses no words and just makes hand motions to try and get his point through.

Craxzus- Acknowledges Throm and moves ahead looking for a good ambush point. He points to where the Orcs will have to cross the stream and begins his descent on the opposite stde of the stream.
How much longer will the fly potion last?

Thorgrim nods in acknowledgement and begins scouting the area for the best possible ambush spot. He will try to find himself a spot that will allow him to squeeze off 1 or 2 shots with his crossbow before wading into melee with his axe.

*According to Rukens calculations the sun still has at least an hour until its reached the point where he warned to get to the ground. You have made excellent time flying above the forest and caught up with your quarry much sooner than anticipated.*
About 10 minutes ahead of the orcs is a stream with many boulders and trees. The orcs are rushing but the woods and their load hinder their progress somewhat. Two orc scouts are ahead of the rest by about 500 feet and are unhindered. They will be the first to reach the stream.

Thorgrim will land by the big boulder and tree on the left side of the map on the orc side of the stream. He plans to wait until the orcs cross the stream and then fire on them from behind while his comrades attack from the front. (Hopefully)

Eirenaios will nod and land on the other side of the stream hiding behind a boulder in the middle.

Thorgrim gently descends and quickly scans his surroundings for the perfect hiding spot. He camouflages himself in the underbrush and readies his crossbow.

Re: Ill news is an ill guest
I had actually been looking at a spot on the other side of those rocks (north and just slightly west of where you put me). That way I can fire on them from the side somewhat. If Throm wants to stay where he is that might work quite well. We can hit them from 3 different directions.
