Good day to you Sirs / Madames

#1 Post by ChubbyPixie »

Hi, ye all. ChubbyPixie here. I must say I'm quite pleased to find this PbP forum and collection of old-timey edition likers - heard about it on the Roll for Initiative Podcast. Could it be that my dream of finally playing forreals in a ADD1e game will transpire? One hopes.

I see there are still openings in the ToH game, but I am afraid. Though quite (theoretically) familiar with the rules (never found a group), I do not feel confident I could build a 9th level character from scratch. Could I? Are there helpful guidelines for this? Some helpful Wizard or Genius? Perhaps I should patiently wait for a lower level game...

Anyway, I'm happy to be here. Nice to very soon have met you all.

Hail & well met, ChubbyPixie. Welcome aboard the good ship Unseenservant!

Yes! Your hopes and dreams of 1E fantasy can be fulfilled and satiated here.

And yes! You can roll up a 9th level character that can join the rest of us in dying a death most horrible in the Tomb of Horrors! 8-)

I think there are more than a few, myself included that are quite rusty on Ad&D Rules.

I could be wrong as they all run together to me but this link should have most of the AD&D rules applicable for the ToH game being run.

Well, that's helpful. Thanks.
Perhaps I'll give it a shot. I'm pretty much guaranteed to die anyway, right? Is that the fun part? Hopefully I'll get er done in time to join...

Take time, ask questions, you should be able to be cycled in even if you don't start when the game kicks off.
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Good advice - I will take my time. And I guess I'm in the right place if I run into trouble. It'll be a good exercise at the very least. Can't wait to follow along and witness the mayhem...

Yes, there will be mayhem for sure. You can count on that in the Tomb of Horrors!
